sos bros semblance of sanity andor episode 1 reaction star wars
I think it's kind of funny how Andor, the one Star Wars show no one was looking forward to, wound up being not only one of the few good Disney-era ones but one of the best pieces of SW media ever.
not just star wars media, Andor was amazing TV period. holds up against other greats out there
That's how it happens. Lore doesn't matter, hype doesn't matter, the best story you can make with any setting is the one that cares for own themes and ideas beyond franchise it exists.
Capable writing, and a great director
Honestly i dont even know why we're seperating pre/post disney era star wars because if we're gonna be honest its been a lot of mid for decades now. Andor imo is already better than anything that came out in the prequel era and is infinitely better than the prequel and sequel trilogies
@@tofuteh2348 I get what you mean, Andor is probably my second favorite piece of Star Wars media, right behind A New Hope
Andor is close to a masterpiece... it's the best written thing in the SW universe ever.
It's definitely one of the best written pieces of expanded universe content. And that's including the breadth of the old EU. It's up there with the original Thrawn Trilogy and KOTOR 2.
@@Girder3 Agree completely. The only other thing I can think to compare it to is KOTOR 2. They both excel in their different thematic elements.
@@Girder3 I was saying that it's actually even better than the original trilogy... Those are obviously better movies but when it comes to writing, nope, Andor is better.
I wouldn't say that at all, its put together pretty well as a sci-fi thriller, but there is still head-scratching moments that get forgiven when other shows don't.
Best writing is CW finale but Andor close second. Also s3 of Bad Batch is beautifully written
The first three episodes dropped at once. This show is split up into arcs much like clone wars.
Also yes you're in luck this show does a lot of work developing the planets and cultures that it depicts!
And just to piggy back on that, ep1-3 are the first arc, ep4-6 second, ep7 is an interlude episode, ep8-10 third arc, and ep11-12 are a two-episode finale.
This show is absolutely amazing. Watched it three times, not to mention numerous reactors like you guys watching it. You're in for a wild ride gents!
Your analytical minds are going to love this show. The Empire done right
The most mature and intelligent Star Wars, reacted to by the most mature and intelligent reactors.
* chef's kiss *
The writing in this show is insane. "Can you make a lie for me?" is such a good fuckin line and implies so much while raising SO many questions that may never be answered. Chef's kiss.
I absolutely adore Andor. It went from a show that I thought no one was asking for, to an absolute masterpiece. I can't wait to relive this show with you two!!
i gotta say, jacob is almost always locked in when it comes to these analyses
I can't even begin to describe the happiness I felt seeing this in my feed. I really hope you enjoy this show
FINALLY...some talented and hard-working writers and artists broke into Disney and made a GREAT, WELL-WRITTEN SHOW!!!!
the true heist :)
I'm so excited to watch you guys experience this for the first time. It might be the greatest piece of Star Wars content ever.
I wasn't expecting this now, but I'm happy to see it.
This is far and away my favorite Star Wars anything, and the most I've enjoyed Star Wars since I was a kid. The writing and performances are really on another level from the rest of the franchise.
The first 3 episodes released at once, which hints at the story arc structure of this show. Mostly done in 3 episode arcs
Your analysis of that (currently unnamed?) deputy was spot on! I love his character so much, and there's that cool little dichotomy between his strict adherance to the law/orderliness, and his desire to "rebel" against the lax authority of the security force which is just such a neat dynamic...
I'm sure I'll have more to say about him as time goes on, but im looking forward to your continued reactions!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
I haven’t been this excited for a reaction since JJBA. Andor is one of my favorite shows of all time, and almost certainly my favorite live action series of all time
I somehow put off watching this when it was released, but it was a masterpiece. can't wait for the second season.
BEST SW EVER MADE AND MY FAVOURITE TV SHOW OF ALL TIME, ABSOLUTE TOP TIER QUALITY.
This reaction is a surprise to be sure but a welcome one
ON PROGRAM
Hands behind head, eyes front, feet on the floor
This is the best season of tv in history. THE BEST. I look forward to your reactions. Soak in every second.
Totally here for this show, amazing arcs in this show are coming up.
The town on Ferrix is a character itself in this story. It feels fully fleshed-out. All the people feel real, they have things to do, they're not just NPCs populating the background. Take, for instance, that wall of work gloves. We can invent reasons for that. For instance, it may be a way of clocking workers on and off shift. If every worker puts his gloves in a specific location you can tell at a glance who is on shift, and if the workday is completed, who hasn't reported back. They don't explain it, but it's the kind of detail that makes the place seem real.
As others have said, the first three episodes were released at once. That was not planned, that was an accident of scheduling problems: The first two episodes were delayed for other reasons, but they still had to maintain the schedule for the full season. But it was a happy accident, because the series would have suffered if critics had been forced to go a week between these three episodes.
Your discussion is very good, and the series will amply reward your willingness to think deeply about it. Good reaction, guys.
Oh my gosh how did I miss you guys checking out Andor?!
I'm so excited to see your end of episode discussions for this
I appreciate the frequent commentary and analysis. Many reaction channels just sit in front of the camera like drones and offer vapid reactions.
Looking forward to future Andor reactions.
This show is an all-time classic of TV - not just Star Wars
I've hired Bor Gullet to wipe my memory so that I can experience it with you for the very first time!
This episode sets the tone - down and dirty; and The Empire is nowhere to be seen ... [although Syril's superior reports to them - and wants a nice shiny report card to present to them ...]
I can already tell you're going to love this show...
I didn't want to watch it either - but my favourite voice actress from Witcher 3 was in it ... and I was just curious to see her face for the first time (episode 4 - but I gave her the big build-up by watching all of the episodes)
I'm glad I did - this is brilliant from start to finish!
Yes! So excited that you're doing Andor!
2nd comment but i want to appreciate that you're one of the few reactors I've seen who noticed that Cassian didn't *want* to kill those Corpos at the beginning
21:11 it released a 3 episode premiere and then one a week beyond
Holy crap, I did not expect this.
Oh hey, good star wars? In this day and age? Hell yeah.
There is plenty to choose from...
@@shugaroony no there isn't. At least in the live action department, Andor is an Anomaly to say the least
I can't wait for you guys to meet the characters in this show.
Tony Gilroy is my fucking guy. Michael Clayton is one of my favorite movies ever, Andor is one of my favorite shows ever
whatttt im gonna enjoy this so much!! star wars supremacy ✨
I am really hyped for this reaction this show is so good
I love the mention of Rebels in the beginning because that immediately tells you how deep into StarWars you are.
For me personally:
Favorite Live-Action Show: Andor
Favorite Animated Show: Rebels (i know, a bit uncommon)
What I wanted to add is that Rebels Season 1 and Andor Season 1 both start at 5BBY (if you haven't already noticed it)
Also, Andor, Rebels and Rogue One are probably some of the most connected content in StarWars when it comes to the world building (probably even more with Andor Season 2)
Oh, and for this the first 3 were released at once, after that once a week
Great to see you guys reacting to this. It's an amazing series. Catching up with your videos for this but the first three episodes were originally a long premiere episode, IMO. I loved the Chief Inspector and how he totally called what happened to the guards. B2EMO is great as well.
You guys are doing andor? Let's goooo
You are in not only for the best Star Wars show but one of the best Sci-Fi shows of all time; it might even be the best written show.
I do consider Andor a Masterpiece. So much detail, so much depth, so much debate.
new Andor react just dropped boys! We're here for your journey
Lol, I just can't wait for them to react to Syril's background 😂
Don't worry, it was well into the season before I stopped thinking the opening title was an establishing shot of a planet.
Through myself and reactors I’ve seen Andor over 15 times now. It’s sad that I get a high watching people watch Andor for the first time 😂
Same friend, same.
One Piece and Andor!? We eating good now!
It's not just the most excellent Star Wars show; it's also the best piece of SW media since the OT.
You guys like "Bad Batch", too? I'm happy to hear that. Forgot to write that on Patreon, where I just spewed my Andor feelings on why it hit me hard, but. Bad Batch is pretty good, too. I'm in the middle of season 3 rn.😊😂
super excited for this reaction series!
oh ive been begging for yall to lock in. finally
27:00 .. good point about Obi Wan remembering ... " .. before the 'dark times' before the EMPIRE! ..."
This show's acting and writing and monologues (there are several classics) put, even him, to shame
This show is very different from the rest of Star Wars because it's obvious it's not idealistic about the state of the galaxy during the time of the Empire. The franchise needed a gritty look at what caused the rebellion to form.
The first 3 episodes of this series released together.
My favorite part of this episode is probably the recurring bit of characters making up fake stories - the guard in the initial sequence to Cassian, Cassian to Brasso, and the inspector to Syril.
Brasso taking up the invention of Cassian's alibi was perhaps the first hint that the dialog in this story was going to be fun.
Andor/Andoria is a moon in Star Trek, and the Andorians were a founding member of the Federation. It's one of those things that makes being a Star Trek and Star Wars fan confusing lol
Project Stardust was the name of Death Star while building. Or smth like that. I'm not interested in Death Star, I just know that from "Thrawn: Treason" novel by Zahn (pretty neat novel imho).
Ohh I have been waiting for you guys to do this one!
Oh wow, I was not expecting this!
A surprise to be sure!
YES BEST SHOW MUCH HAPPY!
it's a slow burn. but it's so satisfying how the season ended. so well written. great performances from all the actors. this should be what Star Wars is.
This is by far the best series Disney has made via Star Wars
Similar to Arcane, this show has multiple story arcs in the season. I won't say how many, or where they start or end. I just wanted to explain why it ends in such a strange spot. It is a really great show imo, and it is getting a season two, good luck Semblances.
I love your analysis on Syril. I was a very socially inept conservative religious teenager and I can to some extent I can relate to Syril character.
OMG Yes thank you for starting this reaction
best star wars show W yes sir they know they spitting fax cook
I think trying to connect this show to the rest of Star Wars through observable details will lead you astray - this show works when you let the story say what it needs to and engage with the ideas it is presenting. This show is not adding much to the lore of SW - it is adding to the thematic ideas. If you try to engage with it on that level, I assure you that it will be very rewarding.
YESSS YESSSSSS!!!!
Love this show
Subscribed for more Andor!
Re "A good amount of time" @ 11:23 or so. We do.
My god Yas ur the best star wars analysis for this
Just when I thought I was out... ❤
If no one has said it, Andor/Andoria actually *is* a Star Trek planet name 😅
this a good react and ive seen a lot! 😂
I'm enjoying how smart your analysis is! I'm a simple man, I see Andor I click subscribe.
Let's not forget the implication of watching Diego Luna's character being harassed by two white cops for basically no reason.
I get the feeling that Deputy Chief Inspector Carn thinks he's too good for the job he has, and is trying to show he's better than all the slackers around him.
I think you might have a better angle though.
Are they going to watch other live action shows as well like Dark ?
YESSSS I was wondering why you guys stopped reacting to the star wars shows! Your reactions to the Mandalorian were awesome. Hell I'd even like to see you guys watch BoBF and Obi Wan even though they're... not the best lol
EDIT: Ok I guess not BoBF since it sounds like you already saw it lol
Might have already been said, but they dropped the first 3 episodes at once.
andor is not only a good star wars show is a good show
IIRC they did realease the first three episodes(or two?) together and then it was one per week
Am I correct in thinking this is first time you guys are getting back into Star Wars again???
YES!
best star wars since empire
The released episodes 1 and 2 the same night. Then only 1 at a time.
Andor was a brief respite that provided the oasis of, at the bare minimum, hope that Star Wars could be better. But then Mando, Bobba, Obi-wan, Ahsoka, The acolyte...
True.
OOOOOOH ANDOR LETSGOOOO
Oh hell yes.
huh, i was expecting invincible. i didnt even know about this show
You're so lucky.
This show is amazing.
What I would give to have my memory wiped, so that I could see it all again for the very first time ...
@@jazzx251 i really was not planning to watch it at all, but if you say so then i might
I literally expected nothing for a series centered on the blandest character in Rogue One and I was hitten with a show on breaking bad level of goodness.
I didnt know about this show
they should see house of the dragon
YES
Godamn! I've waited so long for you guys to react to this show. So glad to see you finally start. And on the same week as starting One Piece live action. Is it too much to hope for Fallout as well? XD
The perfect Anti-Fascist/Woke series out there. Love this show. ❤
Great thing it is also well-written to boot :)
Sadly it has become very, VERY rare in disney
hey i have a good anime for you the saints power is omnipotent i think you guys would like it
Almost thought they quit watching star wars shows, its been soooo long.
Well - the real Star Wars showed up again!
They are now about to have their faith restored ...
I would recommend you watch the Mandalorian and Ahsoka since you've watched Clone Wars and Rebels. You don't need to react to them, but I think you'll enjoy them
They reacted to the first two seasons of Mandalorian. Pretty sure they haven't watched season 3, though, since they mentioned once that they were put off from watching it due to the reception.
@@lpk675 I know, and I'm saying they still should check it out because they love Clone Wars and Rebels, and S3 of Mandalorian continues a lot of plot points from those series
@@lpk675I feel like that is so out of character for them. Typically these are the kind of guys that I would think would like to make their own opinions and not be so much on the follower side. Like, why would you not want to engage with the property that you apparently like and make your own opinions.
@@msbkaioken136 huh, i thought he meant the reactions wouldnt be appreaciated
@@user-sh9ww1yk1y What do you mean who is the he that you're referring to?
The Last Jedi is good
Which part? The character Assassinations? Negative IQ, incompetent characters? Shattered world-building? or the nonsensical plot that has so many holes in it it can identify as a net?
It's so bizarre considering how intelligent these 2 are. How like much of followers they are when it comes to Star Wars, if somebody says anything bad about it, they're immediately like they must be correct. It's such a weird relationship with Star Wars and such like a follower non intellectual mentality to have. How about you actually act like adults? One of which actually wrote a book and engage with the property, so you can actually have your opinions instead of following what other people say.
It's true the star wars sucks now 😂😂😂 besides this for the last 5 years they haven't released anything good lol
i mean, they're not wrong. eventually when something is disappointing enough to you you stop engaging with it. and if friends/people whose opinions you trust in he community are telling you "not worth it," then you probably won't find it worth it. people don't have all the time in the world, and when a franchise has lost your trust, you just don't make time for it anymore.
@@jamesliggins891 For the most part, what they have seen, especially the mandalorian. They have enjoyed so that is not the reason why they did not watch season 3. And from the way they made it sound. It was not people that they trust or likely. You should trust in general that made them not want to watch It. It sounds like they just heard some bad things and immediately were like. Well then, we shouldn't watch it then so bizarrely and uncritically. At this point in time, especially the vast majority of people that talk about Star Wars on the internet are complete and utter. Ideologues that just spout nonsense and are not to be trusted at all. These 2 are not most people this is literally their job stop pretending like it's not. And lost their trust doesn't make any sense either. Considering they did enjoy seasons 1 and 2, they literally immediately backed off the show. As soon as they heard any complaints at all. It's so cringe kind of like this, insanely laughable attempt at justifying their actions.
@@msbkaioken136You are taking this way way too seriously. "Justify their actions"? It's a fucking Star Wars show, they didn't tweet racial slurs.
Them not liking something is not a personal attack on you. Get over it.
@@msbkaioken136 but they said they didn't really love what the mandalorian, that was part of the reason they stopped engaging with star wars so much, because it wasn't what they wanted it to be.
No, Star Wars greatest show is, and will always be, Rebels.
Saw the title of the video and got to say no it definitely isn't lol
Since I didn't watched anything stars wars, just curious - Which are better?
It easily is the best not counting Clone Wars (Mandalorian is good but only 1&2 3 was really bad, Ahsoka Obi-wan and Boba Fett all had shity writing and poor acting)
@syressx9098 while still really bad I still think Ahsoka was better. Honestly Disney Star Wars just has horrendous content
Probably one of the most horrendous takes I’ve ever heard I cannot believe anyone with eyes and ears can say Ahsoka is better than Andor or anything for that matter.
@FrostyMountain-wo3kl it could just be because I loved Ahsoka in the animated TV show but yes while it was still dogshit I did like it better then Andor which was also dogshit. Like I said Disney Star Wars is trash lol. I am sorry that you clearly can't understand that I clearly stated its all shit in my first comment
