Today i would like to share some tips on getting more students on Preply, these are the things I noticed during my time teaching on the platform.

I disagree on dropping rates. Surely it's easier to start expensive then get cheaper by adding the discount programme? (Not everyone wants primark prices because they will think you are primark quality!) Also if you have a CELTA as well as a 120hrs TEFL cert. you want to make that money back as much as possible. If you done the training you deserve to be expensive. ;)
Then you are entitled to that opinion... Im talking about what worked for me and for other people who just started. You can have all the degrees in the world but ig you're unaffordable and not being booked then unfortunately you will not make money... We don't have a primark in SA and our mentality is different, not all students are so shallow. Most europeans choose SA tutors due to affordability. Anyhow its advice, people can choose for themselves
It's ok if some people can't afford me. I'm comfortable with that. In RL language school group classes- the charge is £15-£25 /hr and privates are £35-£40. All teachers have degrees and Cambridge CELTAs as a basic standard. So I'm going by the RL standard. Also, since I'm educated in Oxfordshire U.K., have a British Russel Group degree and have a native RP accent -someone will pay more. Online or RL. It's not a common thing globally. It's my niche so I'm sticking to my standards and most will agree that is fair enough.
And no one is forcing you to not stick to your niche and standards.. My videos are to help people struggling to make a living where tgey dont have a choice and picky isn't an option. Also they are based on my personal experience so if you dont agree, im sorry but rather keep scrolling, dont watch the content if you dont like it because this world is full of different people in different circumstances. For me putting food on the table for my child and having something that can support me was important. So i understand where you are coming from but not everyone is the same so my advice to you is maybe dont make remarks like primark prices for primark quality - thatd not a good way to address your issue

I have been on Preply since March and still haven't had any students. I have a 91% profile score. I have watched so many videos and chatted to many teachers on the community and STILL nothing. I am at my wits end and so frustrated. I am so miserable and out of ideas now. Nothing works. Nothing.😭☹😭☹

Thanks hun, i just looked at your profile. Everything seems fine the only thing i would recommend is redoing your intro video and show your true personality. You can still be yourself while being professional too :) use the elegant teleprompter app i suggested in my last video and that will help keep your dialogue flowing easily. The other thing is you only have one review and it says you have only taught one lesson this tells students that the one trial you had was not converted into a regular student so something wasn't up to par despite the fact that she gave you an outstanding review, even if thats not the case that is what most people will perceive. So i would suggest dropping to 5 or 6 dollars and see if you get students and more reviews. This will show potential students you are reliable and you are able to turn trials into subscriptions so their hunt for a great teacher will end with you. My profile score is 80% and I can't get it go up...
Been live 3 weeks, edited my profile a few times and also lowered my rate and still not a single student 🥺 I’m currently 1043 in the profile position. I even filled in my schedule a lot.

Hi Yurishka, I have been approved on Preply from the 8th of January. My profile score is 100% and i had a trial lesson and the student gave me a 5 star review however they haven't bought a subscription and i dont think they will. Im really struggling to get students and ive watched so many videos so i dont know what im doing wrong.
I'm also charging $3 an hour

very insightful content. I'm currently struggling to get students so I'm hoping to use any available method. I just wanna ask about the 'find students' feature though, I've been on Preply for 4 months now but I've never seen it. I only see the find tutors one. Is the feature still there or is it my profile that's not set up properly?

Hi hun, pleasure ❤️ i would recommend uploading a new introduction video and maybe changing up your description for students... I will see what other tips are useful and let you know
Also change your profile picture to something with office type clothes or more formal across any socials people might see. Especially if you want a wide range including kids which would in turn increase your income. No judgement from me...plenty of unfortunate judgement from all the teaching platforms...they are so fussy!
