I don’t get this modern anti Disney backlash. Did nobody watch Encanto, Luca, Soul, The Mandalorian, No Way Home, any of the shorts, etc? It’s a massive company full of great artists, probability tells me it’s near impossible for them to never put out anything good.
This one looks like it should be meme worthy too (mostly because of Galadriel, Argus Filch, Mike Wheeler, and Obi-Wan Kenobi (read the cast and you'll get my point))
This looks like it will definitely be MUCH better than the Live Action Disney version: - It's a beautiful stop motion - I love the twist on the Blue Fairy being a mystical spirit animal guardian in the form of a Sphinx - They had a go at making Jiminy Cricket realistic & it worked, he looks cool & magical at the same time - The puppet master (Stromboli?) as a villain works - The moral of the story also works (he is immortal & only has a number of time to be with loved ones like his father, who is an old man) This will surely be better than the live action Disney version
The actual name for the character is Mangiafacuo not Stromboli in the book, unlike the disney version. This version took three villians, The Fox, The Cat, and Mangiafacuo mixed them to created a new unique villian called 'Count Volpe' the ringmaster puppeteer whos hair flares like a fox, and mistreats his monkey 'Sprezzatura'
@@Mr.Nobody653 technically Mangiafuoco (literally Fire eater) wasn't a villain in the original story, but someone that teaches Pinocchio to look behind a person appearance, as he looked terrible and scary but was actually a good man that gave him money to buy medicines for his dad.
This version of Pinocchio is so different from the other variants like the Disney (animated) version, but yet it’s so unique from the others that it stood out for me than the rest. And finally this movie has a version of Pinocchio that makes him look like a actual wooden boy, same goes with Jiminy cricket.
This version looks better than the Disney remake exactly because it's original, and not a lazy attempt at extending intellectual property rights. Edit: Oh I see you meant the Disney original version.
Got the pleasure of watching this on the cinema, it is in my all time top 3. If this doesn't win best animated feature at the Oscars, I will officially lose faith in the Academy
The part where he says he doesn’t wish to be a burden anymore… that hits close to home. All the themes and messages inside this one trailer outweigh anything Disney has made in years. I can’t wait to see this masterpiece of animation!
I just hope people don't assume Guillermo copied the lost son plot point from the Disney live-action remake, as he did announce that change before Robert Zemeckis released his film on Disney+.
It took 15 years to make this movie Frame by Frame!! Every single expression of Pinnochio was a different mask with a unique facial expression. Every single character, building, background decor, infrastructure was hand made/painted. A monumental endeavour, a masterpiece, a movie that I really enjoyed on Netflix
I have never ever enjoyed any rendition of Pinocchio, and i’ve honestly grown so tired of seeing it always coming back...but THIS?? I will watch this. This is art, this is unique, this is what my childhood self wouldve loved to see. And i cant wait to see it as an adult!
I don’t know if you've watched it, but 2019's Pinocchio starring Federico Ielapi is amazing, and one of my all-time favourite movies, and the most faithful adaptation
I have seen it already and man, this does not dissapoint. Succeeded my expectations because it's so heart-warming but also heart breaking. I had never felt such pity for old Geppetto and tenderness for Pinocchio's näivety. Made me cry a lot and laugh too. Do yourself a favor and watch it.
It's so refreshing to see a movie with a soul. A stop motion with its own vibes and atmosphere and excellent soundtrack rather than some soulless CGI movie that's just bashed out. I hope to see more

Del Torro’s version of Pinocchio is sure to bring us closer to the art of grotesque cinema. It conveys darker themes and messages, thus it is more suitable for more grown up and mature audiences.
darker themes and messages have been a part of childrens fairy tales for centuries. it doesn't mean that it isn't suitable for children. they are far more resilient than most people give them credit for nowadays. i mean coraline was horrific but i don'tthink anyone is going to say that it wasn't a movie made for children

@@TheLazyFusspot_3428 Wowzers so many meme possibilities, truly a ROFL moment when it comes out!.
I think this and the remake both were amazing
This looks like it will definitely be MUCH better than the Live Action Disney version:
- It's a beautiful stop motion
- I love the twist on the Blue Fairy being a mystical spirit animal guardian in the form of a Sphinx
- They had a go at making Jiminy Cricket realistic & it worked, he looks cool & magical at the same time
- The puppet master (Stromboli?) as a villain works
- The moral of the story also works (he is immortal & only has a number of time to be with loved ones like his father, who is an old man)
This will surely be better than the live action Disney version
The actual name for the character is Mangiafacuo not Stromboli in the book, unlike the disney version. This version took three villians, The Fox, The Cat, and Mangiafacuo mixed them to created a new unique villian called 'Count Volpe' the ringmaster puppeteer whos hair flares like a fox, and mistreats his monkey 'Sprezzatura'
@@Mr.Nobody653 That's pretty cool. Also, poor Sprezzatura. Reminds me of how poor Salsa, a monkey was treated in MOTHER 3

Second, this is one of the most beautiful movies that I've ever witnessed in my life. What a wonderful piece of art Del Toro has made! I have always loved stop motion, ever since I first watched The Nightmare Before Christmas. For Pinocchio, you can literally see how much time, love, and care was put into this film. The 9 years of waiting was definitely worth it. It has now become one of my all time favorite movies, and I'm sure that it will be known as an instant classic in the next few years. If this doesn't get nominated for Best Animated Feature or Best Picture at next year's Oscars, I'm going to so depressed. I can't recommend this wonderful and iconic masterpiece enough!
