That Beverly 400 looks really cool. It's over 100 pounds heavier than the ADV, but probably due to larger motor and stuff. I like the speedo display. Nice!
That surging that trek talks about in the video almost sounds like a electronic speed limiter. On my NSS250 Reflex I have topped that bike out many times on the interstate highway and there is never any surging when I top out on my speed at 86 mph. Since my speedo is optimistic at 5 mph at any speed I am actually doing 81 mph but never ever has there been any surging when I run out of cvt ratio. I have heard this also from other PCX 150 ownwers as well. Makes me glad I bought an old Honda NSS250 now!!😁
I have now had my ADV150 for a year. little over 4000 miles on it. I would NEVER take it out where the speed limit is 60 or higher. While she will hold 65 WOT, there is nothing left. (Mine is still 100% stock.) If you hit a head wind, you could have trouble maintaining 60. All the highways around here are 70-75 MPH, but like the road you were on not all that busy. All the back roads that I do all my riding on are 50-55mph, I usually do 45-50 for best MPG, but will do 55-60 if other traffic is around. Mine looks like a touring bike with the top and side cases, but I call it my 2 wheel station wagon. White or Black one? That looks like the Cadillac of maxi-Scooters. Definitely tons of power and easy to travel on highways with traffic if the commute calls for it. Nice! ✌🏼
@@Trekopolis Mine is black. I bought it for the possibility of riding on the highway. It's funny that I've stayed in the city since I bought it. The slower city commute so far has been pretty enjoyable.

Great video thanks for taking us along. I always enjoyed the back roads on my motorcycles even though they were 600 cc plus, always found the interstates and turnpikes boring. It’s the ride that matters…
Nice share bro. Appreciate hearing the bike etc... not just music like some (tho your doing it for the highway portion is understandable). Pulling the trigger this week on a Silverwing. Stoked. Be well. And I agree... mornings are the best!

I bought an ADV 160 in the Philippines and was never on a major highway. With my son on the back we got up to 69 and it wasn't maxed out so I have no idea what it will actually do.
@@shanerichardson9568 Wow, for Philippines that’s extremely fast. Most places you will never get above 45mph . Rice drying on the road ,dogs laying in the road ,truck parked in the right lane , barriers put up in every town with a school, etc
The 350 ADV is in short supply in Europe so i reckon Honda will be in no hurry to make this available in the US. Also the ADV 150 is not availible here in Europe. Agree with your comments about riding scooters ie twist and go. After riding motorcycles for over 50 years have now added two scooters to the stable, xmax300 and a nmax 125, the bikes hardly get ridden now.
Yep! Riding a "Twisty" is a different experience and I find it just as or more enjoyable than a standard bike. Like anything else it's nice to have choices. Although, riding some of the sport bikes I have to admit those are fun too. I need a garage full of all types of bikes. Maybe one day. ;)
The "bouncing" you mention, is the engine hitting the Rev Limiter. Ppl, if you know of a taller screen for the ADV150, taller than the aftermarket unit fitted in this Vid, please reply with details.
@@mthirschberg The shield I have measures roughly 20" from top to bottom and the one on that website measures 18", but looks like it sits higher on the bike. Hard to tell how much taller you'd actually get with it based on the screw hole positioning. Thanks for the info.

That’s crazy, I knew that area looked familiar soon as I seen that 75 Dayton Cincinnati lol I happen to live nearby. Great video 👍🏾 planning on getting me a X-Pro Bali 150cc Scooter soon
I'm assuming when you're doing 60+ mph you have it completely wound out and pinned? Not bad though for a little 150cc scooter. I had a Rebel 250 that would do a little bit better than that maybe, but it was nowhere near as stable as your scooter at that speed. Good highway demo video!
Full throttle will keep it around 63-65 normally. I've hit 67 a few times, but any uphill or oncoming wind plays a factor. You can cruise all day long at 60mph though. Sweet spot on this bike I'd say is anything under 50 where you still have available acceleration. Yep, it is pretty stable when there's no violent winds.
I just wanted to say that I enjoyed your video on the ADV 150. You have covered all that the bike can do. I wanted to know what the bike can do top end and if it was stable. We have two Honda Ruckus scooters right now that me and my wife like to ride around town. We really have a great time on those bikes. However, several of our local town roads in Florida are 40 and 45 miles per hour. Top speed for me is 38 on the Ruckus. So I am looking to maybe upgrade to the ADV 160 just to be a little safer. But if Honda even put a 100cc or 125cc on a Ruckus, we would stay with it because we just love them and the looks too. So thank you again. I think we will upgrade to the ADV 160. Dont plan on driving on I-95 with a 70mph speed limit but good to know that it is possible. I dont want to push the bike hard hopefully increasing its longevity. James
As long as you're not pushing the limits of the ADV at max speeds for long periods of time I think it could handle anything to be honest. Bouncing off the 67mph limit over and over again seems like it would wear parts prematurely. Plus, it's no fun feeling that when you're going that fast. The sweet spot for the ADV 150/160 is anything under 50mph I'd say. To me, anything above that isn't enjoyable to me. Everyone's different! It's good to know a bike's limits before purchasing something though.
as a former driving instructor, and now 61 years old...I am having trouble finding a reliable vehicle ( Van / Wagon / whatever ) I would be nervous sitting at stop / signs / lights without a rear-view mirror. I notice it seems hard to see clearly behind you unless you lean over to one side. I would be worried about getting rear ended and pushed into the vehicle in front of me. I have never even ridden a 49CC scooter, but for only FINANCIAL reasons only I would consider taking the 16 hour class at the local community college and getting my motorcycle endorsement so I can buy one of these. For $4,000 - $5,000 it seems like a reliable mode of transport around town and short trips out of town. But living in Wisconsin I have no clue where to even store it for the winter months?
I am always looking behind me, especially when I plan to stop or sitting idle at a traffic light to make sure vehicles are slowing and see me. I'm not sure if I would be able to get out of the way even if I tried, but maybe. I am always aware of my surroundings. The mirrors are not going to provide 100% visibility, but it's enough where I have the confidence that I can see what I need to. I never feel like they don't do the job. You take a chance every time you ride and that's just a choice we make. I know a guy who was rear-ended by a delivery truck as he waited at a traffic light, it happens. The delivery driver didn't see him and was probably looking at this phone. He was laid up for months and lucky to be alive, with multiple neck/spine surgeries. He said he is done riding and is selling his Harley. All it takes is one time to change your mind about being out there on two wheels. However, I don't focus on the "what-ifs" because it saps the joy out of the experience for me. I accept the risk and I'm as careful as I can be and that's all I can do. I would never ride without a helmet, however. That's also a choice. Anyway, the rider's course does teach a lot about riding that you would never read in booklets because the instructors have a wealth of knowledge (most of them) that is priceless information. I was humbled going through the class because I thought I knew pretty much about riding. Wrong. You always learn something. BTW, if you get a bike you can buy a nice cover online to store it under if you don't have a garage. Some of the better covers do a great job protecting the bike. You can check out the slightly used market for motorbikes too and may save thousands, then invest quality accessories and enjoy the experience. Riding is a combination of keeping a positive outlook and being true to your physical abilities or limitations. Once you find the right bike you'll really enjoy two wheels a lot more. Hope this helps!
it's a honda, you can bounce it off the rev limiter for decades and it will smile and ask for more so long as you change the oil. they have earned this reputation...

I remember sitting on different bikes, imagining riding them, but I took a chance and bought mine anyway because it felt right sitting on it. They all ride the same really, it's more about fit and comfort. I think dealerships lose a lot of potential buyers with not allowing test rides, even around the parking lot. I have a 2023 ADV 150 and a 2023 PCX 150. The PCX is way better on the open highway, its faster and has more pickup speed. but the ADV has better shocks and better for back roads.
Is it? Interesting. I've not ridden a PCX before so that's cool. They are pretty close to being identical machines, but even the slightest component change can make a difference, even tires.
@@Trekopolis Yes the pcx has a total different motor. it is a 4 valve motor with way more get up and go. i only did some small clutch mods and have see 80 mph. my adv has less than 500 miles on it, and its for sale this spring. pcx is just way better.
@@km4fsi827 That's right, the PCX does have a different configuration, I forgot about that. 80mph eh? That's crazy. Not sure if I'd like going those speeds on a light bike. One blast of cross-wind and... well, you know... Ouch. Careful with that!
The weight isn't an issue, but long legs may become cramped because of the floor boards. Taller folks have replaced the seat or removed the hump so they can sit further back to stretch the legs more. Worse case buy a crash guard and bolt on some food pegs in the front if your legs feel cramped. Try it before you buy it is the idea. Everyone is different. Some taller people don't seem to have concerns so there's that. Hope it works out for you! ✌🏼
So apparently there were 30 Honda ADV 150s that just took part in the Scooter Cannonball run, out of 130 bikes. I know one cooked its cvt belt but the rest seemed to do well at WoT across the southern US in summer temps.
I personally do not like the limited power of the ADV160 as it can do 72-74 mph on a flat road and can hold 64-ish with hills. Though the gas mileage is at its worst when riding long distance having to hold the throttle at max and overtaking cars is sketchy. Great scooter for stop and go traffic around town, but it is not made for the interstate in my opinion. Also .. I have never experienced the fuel cut / rev limiter bouncing you describe on my ADV160. The speed on the 160 just does not get past 74 mph. The 74 mph is achieved only with me tucking in the windscreen.. sitting upright I'm maxed at 72.
Right around 67mph I can feel this bouncing sensation like some limiter is preventing the bike to go a higher speed. That's okay since I rarely will go that fast, but it does feel strange when that happens. The ADV160 probably can go a little faster I'm hearing. No thanks. :) I'm happy under 45mph all day long just taking my time.
Great video! Any news on the ADV160 being available in US? Im in SE Asia right now and they are out here. Know anything about shipping a bike international if I purchased it here? Thanks in advance if you decide to respond! I appreciate your content
It is said that the ADV 160 is slated to be released in June, but I have not checked with any dealers yet to see about availability. There appears to be two color choices; black and red. As far a international shipping check out Shiplux to get quotes. And also, thanks for the comment!
I wonder how the 160 would handle. I have a royal enfield himalayan but honestly miss the ease of riding a scooter. I’m contemplating trading in for a pcx or adv. I’m just concerned cause speed limits where I am are 75 mph 😪 Wish they sold the ADV 350 in the states edit: ease*
Have you considered something on the used market like a Burgman 200/400 or something with a little more power, but still an automatic? Those can be ridden on highways with less worry because they have higher top speed and they are heavier and more stable for cross-winds. Just throwing it out there. A new ADV or PCX are pricey, but something a year or two gently used might save ya some cash.
@@Trekopolis I’ve looked at the Xmax but they are definitely out of my budget. The Burgman does seem like the best option but I’m not the biggest fan of the looks. Even my Himalayan is topped out on the high way though so a burgman may be a good option
@@confettihunterminus1 I hear ya, some bikes aren't head turners, but in the end I'd rather have something that suits my needs. You forget about the looks once the enjoyment factor sets in.
Iam not 100% sure, but I think it might be the revolutions limiter your bouncing off of, I think the rev limiter causes that possibly! It's so you don't blow the engine, but I think you can override the rev limiter
Nice vid, and thanks for sharing. I plan to get a Honda Grom when I move back to the USA next year. Never ridden a motorcycle in the USA before, but I’m a 5’6” guy who has travelled and ridden motorcycles and a few scooters in Asia, self-learned. I feel pretty comfortable driving a light motorcycle (I owned a honda 110cc in Vietnam for 6 months). My question is, do you think it’s useful for me to take a motorcycle course in the USA or can I do fine just learning the motorcycle rules online? To be clear, I have a USA car license and have a lot of experience driving cars. I would rather avoid spending the money on a course, just wondering if it has any use for those comfortable on motorcycles in other countries. I have no interest in driving on highways - just commuting and little backroads adventures in California.
I will always recommend taking a course in the US because even if someone thinks they know all there is to know about riding a motorbike you will learn something new. I was very surprised how much I didn't know. The course I took in Ohio was not expensive at all and for the amount of knowledge and confidence it gave me it was a no-brainer. It will also allow you to waive the riding test at the BMW if you show your passing certificate. When you get to the US research courses in the state you'll be and go from there. You may have to wait a bit because they tend to fill up quick, but it's totally worth it. Just my humble opinion.
@@Trekopolis Thanks, great feedback. I have no idea how much it costs, but I guess I assume $300 or something given things like this (workshops) sounds like it would be expensive in the USA. I’ll check it out - just super excited when I can get my first bike there..
@@iamrishio Looks like around $425. Everything is outrageous in Cali. Mine was nothing near that. I can't even remember because the cost was really cheap in Ohio. So it's something to think about for sure.
The wind is tolerable with the screen, but yeah, it's still there. The screen helps more at lower speeds I feel. At 65mph you're gonna have to deal with it, but it's better than not having anything I suppose. The only time I feel squirrelly is when a cross-wind messes with me. If there's no wind it's not too bad honestly. My sweet spot is under 50mph all day long on back roads. lol
I'm about 215 minus a pizza and I have a very steep hill near me leaving that park I show a lot. It climbs up with no problem. It won't set any land/speed records, but I would never feel as if I'm holding up traffic. It does a nice job pulling through the entire incline.
i used to take my 150 on the highway but sold and upgraded to a 250 just for the extra power had a drunk driver on wrong side of the road come at me and begin max pinned didn't have much power to get out the way i managed to safely doge the idiot who then crashed into a ditch and waited with the dumbass until cops came but with the 250 having that extra power i feel way more confident on the highways
That would be a scary experience, one you'll never forget. Yep, more power does have benefits, especially at higher speeds. Even with that I'd probably avoid highways, just not worth it to me. Always some idiots either drunk or staring into their phones they are addicted to. SMH
No power to get out of danger/trouble at highway speeds. Wrong machine for long highway stretches. I have a supercub @ 125cc and I would never take it on the highway...heck, I wouldn't take it on a road that's 50mph. (My bike selection came down to the Supercub or the ADV150....it was close, but the SC won in the end.)
The lack of added power on a busy highway traveling 65mph when you need it is the conundrum. Sometimes we must accelerate to avoid an ugly merging situation because braking is not always an option. You have to jockey for position or people will merge into you. I see it all the time. I spent nearly two decades as an outside technician traveling our tri-state area and there's no way I'd want to accomplish that on my bike. That's a recipe for trouble.
I noticed u let go of your handlebars in your neighborhood. My ADV150 shake if I let go of my handlebars like that. My tire pressure is right at the owner's manual says the tire pressure should be. Any ideas?
I don't think that's normal. Maybe the front wheel/tire isn't balanced. Interesting. If you work on your own bike I'd check the two nuts on the front wheel to see if there's any play. I'll see what I can find.
I did check the front tire nuts. They are securely on there. I know you have a shop manual can you check what size the nuts are supposed to be for me. One is an 18mm and the other is a 15 or 14mm. Thanks.
@@seanhenry4601 Oddly enough the manual doesn't even show or state the nuts for either wheel. In that case I usually carry my socket set over to it and try various sizes until one fits! :) I'm finding this service manual is very basic and lacks some detail for certain things.

Hey! do you still have the scooter? I am just wondering how many miles it has right now?
I like the ADV 150 and was interested in one. I wanted something faster so I found a 2012 Silverwing. That thing scoots.
@@sixwhip14 Agree. Highway travel is zero fun for me because of the wind, crazy speeders, and the lightness of the bike. I feel very vulnerable if something went bad.
Great video thanks for taking us along. I always enjoyed the back roads on my motorcycles even though they were 600 cc plus, always found the interstates and turnpikes boring. It’s the ride that matters…
Well said my friend! Thanks for tuning in. ✌🏼🌄
Nice share bro. Appreciate hearing the bike etc... not just music like some (tho your doing it for the highway portion is understandable). Pulling the trigger this week on a Silverwing. Stoked. Be well. And I agree... mornings are the best!
Appreciate it! Yeah, I try to mix it up. People complain about music more than anything so I've learned to curb it best I can. I guess people would rather hear wind than music. (shrug) What can ya do? Anyway, good luck on the Silverwing! Always liked those. Let me know how it rides.
I love my adv 150 too, just for chill ride not for speed, enjoy the view of nature here in Philippines
I bought an ADV 160 in the Philippines and was never on a major highway. With my son on the back we got up to 69 and it wasn't maxed out so I have no idea what it will actually do.
That's fast enough! ;) Probably better not to find out. Ha.
If I cruised around 65mph I'd avoid the bouncing. Even so, that's faster than I really care to go. 👍🏼
California Scientific ADV 150 windshield is perfect with max coverage and full bar movement with stock mirrors.
@@mthirschberg The shield I have measures roughly 20" from top to bottom and the one on that website measures 18", but looks like it sits higher on the bike. Hard to tell how much taller you'd actually get with it based on the screw hole positioning. Thanks for the info.
@@Trekopolisfor reference, the stock windshield is 6.5" from the top mounting hole to the top of the screen, the cal sci is 11.5", 5 inches taller than stock. Not sure about the others. The cal sci is definitely as wide as possible without hitting mirrors. Highly recommended. Take care.

So glad I bought the Honda. I tried electric but did not fit the mustard.
That’s crazy, I knew that area looked familiar soon as I seen that 75 Dayton Cincinnati lol I happen to live nearby. Great video 👍🏾 planning on getting me a X-Pro Bali 150cc Scooter soon
Howdy neighbor! Small world at times. Well, avoid the Interstates on that bike and you'll be fine. Be safe!
You change your pulley set and clutch springs also center springs to aftermarket
Mine is all stock and I don't plan on changing any of that anytime soon. Maybe down the road if I feel I need to or if the stock parts begin to wear!
I think for longer rides and faster roads, 55-60 is fine to hold for 1h or so... But slower roads are always better and more fun even with big bikes.
When the world goes by too fast we miss the moments that matter most. ✌🏼
Thanknyou@@Trekopolis
it's a honda, you can bounce it off the rev limiter for decades and it will smile and ask for more so long as you change the oil. they have earned this reputation...
Well that's good to hear, but I avoid the bounce to be honest cause I enjoy taking it slow.
You should consider doing daily commute vlogs. Good stuff man!
Thanks! I work from home four days per week, but an idea is a weekly TGIF vlog. Hmmm! Always appreciate the helpful feedback. 👍🏼
my old PCX 150 I could get to 70-71... but I rarely did that. I wonder how fast I could get the PCX or ADV 160 to...
There's only one way to find out! Be safe!
@@Trekopolis can't find one to rent, no dealer anywhere nearby allows test rides... only way I could find out is to buy one, and not sure I want to right now
I get that, dealers would not let me test ride anything either. I remember sitting on different bikes, imagining riding them, but I took a chance and bought mine anyway because it felt right sitting on it. They all ride the same really, it's more about fit and comfort. I think dealerships lose a lot of potential buyers with not allowing test rides, even around the parking lot. Big mistake in my opinion. @@AyaWetts
I am in Columbus. Driving down to Tennesseee and picking up a new ADV 160. Question is, I am 6'6" 230 lbs....wondering if I am too big

amzn.to/3oL3LPc No, I don't notice any vibration and it swivels in any direction.
That was a fun ride and music! 🎶
Thanks! I enjoyed creating this one. 👍🏼
I think the rev limiter is associated to the RPM's you are pulling versus the belt and sliders. But I wouldn't ride it WOT for long periods either.
Yep, regardless, it has limits and not meant to ride wide open like that for long periods I would wager to say.
So apparently there were 30 Honda ADV 150s that just took part in the Scooter Cannonball run, out of 130 bikes. I know one cooked its cvt belt but the rest seemed to do well at WoT across the southern US in summer temps.
@@alexiezachariades4872 Well, that's comforting thanks. At my rate mine should last 30 years!
Great video.
Thanks, sir!
I wonder how the 160 would handle. I have a royal enfield himalayan but honestly miss the ease of riding a scooter. I’m contemplating trading in for a pcx or adv. I’m just concerned cause speed limits where I am are 75 mph 😪 Wish they sold the ADV 350 in the states
edit: ease*

How was the wind on you and does it get squirrelly at those speeds?
The wind is tolerable with the screen, but yeah, it's still there. The screen helps more at lower speeds I feel. At 65mph you're gonna have to deal with it, but it's better than not having anything I suppose. The only time I feel squirrelly is when a cross-wind messes with me. If there's no wind it's not too bad honestly. My sweet spot is under 50mph all day long on back roads. lol

i used to take my 150 on the highway but sold and upgraded to a 250 just for the extra power had a drunk driver on wrong side of the road come at me and begin max pinned didn't have much power to get out the way i managed to safely doge the idiot who then crashed into a ditch and waited with the dumbass until cops came but with the 250 having that extra power i feel way more confident on the highways
Just wish i could turn off the music when you’re riding. So i skipped those parts.
Good feedback thanks
I noticed u let go of your handlebars in your neighborhood. My ADV150 shake if I let go of my handlebars like that. My tire pressure is right at the owner's manual says the tire pressure should be. Any ideas?
I don't think that's normal. Maybe the front wheel/tire isn't balanced. Interesting. If you work on your own bike I'd check the two nuts on the front wheel to see if there's any play. I'll see what I can find.
