@@ColeKeleher I'm a retired nurse. Nearly all child abuse/neglect is related to drug/alcohol abuse. Nearly all crime is related to drug/alcohol abuse. Why does one political ideology defend drug use and oppose law enforcement?
If we are talking about America, neither side opposes police and neither side glorifies drug use. Democrats have continuously been accused of that when the accusations are just republican propaganda. Democrats actually support rehab instead of jail time and support making police accountable for the crimes they commit rather then giving them complete immunity to any and all actions they do while on duty
The most tragic thing about the first one, at least to me, is how convinced OP is that his mother's behavior isnt her fault. Drugs can change a person, but OP is describing classic malignant petsonality disorder behavior. A cycle of abuse, neglect, and love bombing, plus a serious victim complex. I hope the better rehab sees through everything so she can get better, but OP needs to cut contact.
That pissed me off. OP was unable to hold their mother accountable, but at the end of the day, it was their mother who made the decision to take those drugs and abuse them.
Almost as bad is the stupid comment about the state connected rehab being able to help her more than the other. Like, excuse me? OP himself said she was clean for a while after each time, then SHE made the CHOICE to relapse. That has NOTHING to do with any failure on the part of the other rehab service. IF you grant the notion that anyone has a share of blame in her relapse that isn't her, THEN the only possible guilty party would be the family and friends who failed to provide a strong enough support system. I disagree with that conclusion, as it's entirely on the addict, but OP seems to be reaching for anyone to blame but his mother.
story 4. Im not apportioning blame but want to pose the hypothetical of something happening to the wife and her siblings. Would they expect op to look after her parents then ? What would all those commenters say then? Would they give up the virtue signallung? Would they say op isnt responsible for them and turn his back on them? Or maybe they will wish they just stayed quit in the first place
First story when OP says it was not wholly her fault, I can guarantee that list came from his mother. She is not ready to stop taking the substances and won’t be until she acknowledges that it was her fault. She took the stuff, she got hooked and she didn’t take the help available.

In the USA, if a company has more than 50 employees within 75 miles, they are obligated to allow you to take leave under the FMLA. OP should have used that to take care of his Dad and then used any sick/vacation time he might have saved up to deal with the funeral stuff.

With that 2nd one - I can just imagine the manager wondering why they aren't getting as much work out of the OP, and if they ask - "Well, you proved that me working the old way was a sure-fire way of getting hurt, so I decided on a schedule that works for me, rather than punishing me for having family problems. So I now put in less hours because the company proved it doesn't actually appreciate us doing that." With the one with the elderly, that is going to backfire at some point, with the wife's expensive tastes. She's going to complain about him not helping enough, when they are so far out of balance on how much they make. Loved the last bit during the cat video - letting the comedian go after him, then telling him he's never getting work at that place ever again. I wonder if he actually voiced the "Oh shit!" moment he clearly had?

It's a lot more simple than that. The second it came in front of a judge the case would be thrown out. You cannot sue your adult child for anything while they were a minor so long as you were their guardian. In legal terms, you're bringing a civil action against yourself as you are legally responsible for them while they are a minor. Even if the person was without legal representation, the case would be thrown out as there is no defendant. (Plaintiff and defendant can't be the same person)
nope she lost sympathy when the fact she has him buy her expensive gifts that her has to save up for. I'm willing to bet any gift she gets him if any at all are cheap.
Why would the wife pay for hub’s parents, when he make so much less? He needs to get a better job, and help with the household and parenting. He has to save up for her gifts; what kind of gifts does he get?
Story 2: So OP cut off his own nose to spite his face. He switched to a contract he liked less, and brought in less money, in order to spite his boss? Does he really think whatever work he does is so irreplaceable that his boss will somehow suffer more? His boss probably got a commendation for getting OP off the contract the company likes less, while OP earns less money. All while OP included in his story that he couldn't take longer leave because of not having much money. Stupid.

They were also being a petty and entitled little person, with regards to the arrangements that somewhere they'd agreed to. They need to re-evaluate themselves, and find a cop[y of the Twelve Steps of A.A. and apply them to their life, even if they don't drink they can still bee adapted to many things.
How many sahp expect the earning partner to support their parents in old age? This woman makes 300k a year and it sounds like 10k a year would change the quality of life for his parents drastically.
