How Cool, I was there. The USDA Forest Service said that to use Whitehorse Meadows near Glide Oregon for our Family Gathering we had to have a Fire Marshall and as a wildland firefighter the Elders elected me as the Rainbow Family Fire Marshal and as such I had to organize a team of able bodied souls incase of a fire and I had to demonstrate in the middle of the Gathering's Drum Circle How to use a Fire Extinguisher, everybody booed me thinking that I was a G-Man but then an Elder Zack Rabbit explained and everything was cool, I also did Parking Lot Detail and Camp Security and Clean up too, what a mess afterwards but go there today and you can't tell we were ever there too, I have three Rainbow Nicknames, Lurch, Omar the Firefighter and Parking Lot, the parking lot name followed me to many other gatherings, peace camps and barter fairs too. Thanks for the Awesome Memories🙅
I met the rainbow people after that gathering in the Oregon Peace camp. I was 13 at the time. The law back then didn't fear the Rainbow People like they do now. Violence was dealt with peacefully if possible. And violence was rare. The violence didn't start with Rainbows. Rainbow people are non violent for the most part. The problems started when the law started getting involved. Until then the gatherings were peaceful. The rangers in this one are typical of the times.
I was at the Peace Camp above Ashland Oregon just after this Gathering, I refused to leave my Harley in the Parking area so I camped off to the side of camp all by myself and my precious bike, well kind of by myself, the Medicine Man Earl was my neighbor. I was Camp Security and a Gleaner /Digger for Food runs into Ashland, if you or anyone reading this was there you all called me LURCH
The Ranger Gordon is my grandfather!
He passed away when I was four so it is so cool to see him like this!
I remember working with Gordie as we called him, cool dude

Does any body know or remember Sparky? He had been a Chicago Outlaw and left to join the family in Canada in 1974.
