    I started living in my 1991 Westfalia Volkswagen on February 1, 2011. It has been an adventure of life lessons and learning to live minimalistic. In this video I give you a tour of the Westfalia and show you what I have done and modified in the van to make life comfortable.

    Living in a van weeds out the girls you don't need in your life. If they can't appreciate you for who you are and the dreams your chasing and accomplishing while living in a van, then they are not the type of girls I need in my life. Simply done.

    As for the question on westy vs full size van. The westy is a great package deal ready to go. It's compact, very maneuverable. They cabinetry is a godsend for storing all the daily needs and keeping everything organized. The westy also provides a pop top which allows you to stand up and move around the cabin. I'm six foot and with my top popped I can stand with my hands fully extended upward and not touch the ceiling. Maybe I will post a video showing this aspect. I do like the idea of a full

    Well, #1, be comfortable and confident with your decision to live in your van. I did it because I wanted to, not because I HAD to. #2, be organized. Invest in equipment that will help you stay organized and live comfortable. ie; rocket box, propane heater, battery charger, inverter, tackle box organizers, mattress topper, good sleeping bag. I started living in my van while I still had a full time job and was easy to fund these items. I have a storage unit that I use as a "home base" for other i

    You are my new heroe! I also live in my camper van and have been doing so for the past 1,5 years. My boyfriend showed me one of your newest videos yesterday and now I’m hooked. The way you shoot your videos, your drone pictures… Just beautiful 😻. I just recently started my own channel but man, do I have a lot to learn! So to be as good as you are I will watch every one of your videos chronologically 😂. Starting tonight.

    My Westy is a 1991. The van has about 220,000 miles and the engine just went out. Otherwise I have not had any issues. I am replacing the motor with a subaru motor so it will be good to go.

    I sleep in my van almost every day. I've been off work most of the year and it has saved a lot of money, not to mention provided a lot of adventures. Vans are spacious enough. If a person enjoys this means of living, who is a person to judge? I have so many well off friends who said they would love to give up all the stuff (and debt) and lead a more simple life!

    Hey guys, thanks for the comments. Sorry for the delayed response. I like to park my home at Wal Mart when I'm around town. It sounds funny but I find the parking lot rather "homey". I'm doing this in my home town so I have several friends and family members with an "open driveway policy" where I can park for an evening or two. It all depends on what I'm doing. Thats what's great about the freedom of van living. The key is to blend in where ever you go. As for the question on westy vs full siz

    repying to 1040chino I am planning on living in a van or my pickup camper. I have not lost anything. I have land, horses, two sail boats, snowmobiles,motorcycle, tractors and farm machinery and a giant home. I AM SICK AND TIRED OF MAINTAINING IT ALL. Sooooo... I am either moving on the boat or into my camper and chucking it all. I figure on living off the sale of this " stuff" till i die. Not everyone choses an alternate life style because they have no choice.

  • @LivingTheVanLife
    @LivingTheVanLife  12 лет назад

    Yes! The tackle boxes are key to success of westy life. There is lots of storage to be had in a westy, but it's complicated storage so you have to be creative on how you organize! The flat wide tackle boxes are awesome for the cabinets. You can stack 3-4 on top of each other easily. For electricity I have the auxiliary battery set up under the driver seat. I never have dead starter batteries any more. I very rarely plug into shore power. And I guess I don't really use that much power anyways.

U can tell, the ones that worry about things like 'how it would effect their puddy chasing' are the funniest. I know U did this out of choice, many do to avoid living in a shelter.
