  • Brodsworth Yorkshire and St Michael and all Angels Church built in Saxon times. Peter Thellusson who built the adjoining estate in 1791 is interred in the church.
In the 1960s the church came under threat from the effects of coal mining as the National Coal Board began work on the Barnsley coalfield in the vicinity of the church in the early 1960s. It was reported in 1964 that coal was to be mined from under the church itself, and within three years, the effects of mining subsidence had become evident. Subsequently the NCB erected wooden shoring inside and outside the church in 1967 to counteract the effects of subsidence, but metal tie bars had to be added inside the church to stabilise the building further in 1970 and again in 1973. Subsidence continued until 1986, when the NCB informed the Church Council that movement had ceased, and negotiations began for the beginning of remedial work.
Brodsworth Hall had fallen into disrepair by 1990 when it was given to English Heritage. Since then its fragile interiors have been carefully conserved, while the gardens have been returned to their earlier formality.
