I expected Chapter 7's big twist to be the biggest one but it's like from that point on, the entire game just nails you with world-shaking revelation after revelation. I was on the edge of my seat from Chapter 8 onward.
So when Jin says Amalthus destroyed Torna he means it's legacy. It's influence. It's ideas and people. That is what was lost when Amalthus attacked. He wanted to make sure nothing of Torna remained, that it was truly gone forever.
now I haven't played the DLC, but here's is my guess. Mythra was the one who literally destroyed the Titan itself and sunk it below the cloud sea. But after Pyra went to sleep, Amalthus destroyed the rest of Torna's people who survived. Thus destroying it's name (for the most part) and legacy, yes. So Mythra destroyed Torna literally/physically, but Amalthus destroyed Torna's name.
I really hope the update the flashback scenes with what they retconned Torna TGC versions. Like it would be so much more powerful if Hugo and Milton were mentioned when Brighid is trying to remember her past self

I want to clear some things up: In the end of chapter 7 Jin just before ophion attacked he looked away knowing he can’t do anything to save us Malos and his feelings were reminiscent of what amalthus feared or daydreamed and finally snapped out of at maloses death Amalthus wasn’t the bad guy nor Jin both wanted justice but both didn’t kill directly Jin just beat evil people up and amalthus just captured blades and stored them safely for the sake of revenge against the tornans who killed his home and his mother Both went to heaven because both didn’t permenantly kill people and blades because when they died those people and blades were freed and both wanted revenge for each other and then both ascended
Both had lost all faith in the world. If someone got in their way, they didn't believe it worth it to spare them. But neither were truly "evil," as it were. Having said that, I still cannot forgive Amalthus. Ever.

One thing I don't get...there's a moment the game pauses to decide which name to call her and shows a picture of both Pyra and Mythra. What was the point of that?
The big thing is at the end of the game, when the whole party is together after the final boss. Pyra/Mythra will be in the form that you choose. This also applies in other cutscenes where they are in their "base" form (either Pyra or Mythra). And i think Rex calls them whatever name you choose. Nothing too dramatic, but a nice touch. It doesn't change anything story-wise.
Also, found out what happened to Detroit... or Ohio... or just some city in the world with just as bad of a reputation... is it bad I want this moritha to actually be confirmed as one of the first two? I mean, I'd make it that because of the history. That, and as irony, considering that it's below a place named paradise when translated into English, so it must have been built there. Unless moritha moves in the opposite direction as the world tree, or they move at different speeds, but I highly doubt it.

Michael Rivers if mythra or pyra are in there nature form, the name of the nature form is based on wich you have chosen.

Yes in the ending it is. Based on your choice, the ending will be a little bit different but not a lot.
Personally I just go with Pyra because that’s what it defaults to when you play that battle for the first time.
