If it's any consolation, a lot of that sound is achieved in how it's mixed and recorded. Don't forget that a good performance relies as much on "behind-the-scenes" talent (in this case, the sound team) as on the actors themselves.
I agree completely............Quinton Flynn is a great voice actor like all other actors for Metal Gear Solid. I always thought there was something familiar with Axel's voice in KH 2. When I saw the credits realized it was Quinton Flynn. Axel was like the opposite of Raiden. He was likeable and badass. "God it Memorized" - EPIC!
I can't get used to Raiden with a human chin. I've played as a Raiden with a metal chin for so long now that it feels weird seeing him with a full human face. xD

As good as Flynn's Raiden was, he has done voice overs for alot of other games and programs. In fact, he voiced one of my favorite characters (Sheldon) in "My Life as a Teenaged Robot". He really does have quite a vocal range.
for those of you who dont know, there is a 5th metal gear game coming out. its called Metal Gear Solid: Rising where the new cyborg Raiden is the lead character. i cant wait! its for XBOX360 and PS3 now instead of just PS3. im to the point now were i dont know who my favorite character is anymore between Snake and Raiden.
I like Snake and Raiden, they are both unique, many people didn't like him, because he always fought with Rose. Now, if these haters actually would've paid attention to the codec, where Raiden tells Rose, why exactly he was acting strange near Rose(Because he had nightmares about his childhood as a child soldier.) then they'd understand what's going on with him. Seeing this man crying because of his childhood nightmares, almost made me cry, myself.

There needs to be more directors like Kojima, I was completely convinced that MGS4 fully showed what the PS3 is capable, considering that blu ray is still new and very hard to work with. It's just a shame that some good directors don't attempt to work as hard and instead just do regular console ports for multiplatform games in which people only compare graphics and in reality there's no differnce. But MGS4 is something new I've seen from next gen games.

The rest of the cast seems much more natural in the delivery of dialog. By the time MGS4 came out, Flynn was a lot better. Rosemary was about the same...
