I knew I was gonna feel some type a way about this game when I got the Frost Fairy, tried to get a statue but died, got Frost Fairy again, MASHED the jump button and got it that time. It instantly reminded me of the strategy everyone used in Sonic 06 when playing as Silver or Omega to stay in the air while levitating/hovering
This is a great list! I appreciate that you not only listed what the costume did, but creative ways to use it (it's what I love most about the costume mechanic). I just beat the main story mode and haven't unlocked all the costumes yet...so my favorites right now are Soaring Sheep (floating has saved me many times & it's easy to farm), Frost Fairy (duh), Merry Ghost (floats & is cute), and Jelly Jolt (best in battle because it makes that forcefield when it jumps & isn't hurt by electricity, literally used it in final boss). Working on replaying all the levels to get all those costumes I missed and it looks like I have a lot to look forward to!
Super good list, haven't actually finished Balan yet so I'll be keeping these costumes in mind! Also OMG thank you for featuring my shot of Leo with the Tims in the elevator, I mostly sent it as a joke but I'm glad you liked it!
I loved bringing the Air Unicorn into levels and getting to a high place to see where I could go. This game is so much fun to explore, it felt like I was playing Spyro again.
what happened with following: Sheep / flower (there are sections for which they are essentials (when seeking for remaining balan statues); Teleporter (you are able to skip gear prince with Balan costume, but you are not able to skip Teleporter if you go for all Balan statues) and you can as well fight with this costume; Dino vacuum cleaner / lethal vacuum cleaner (there is 1 statue for which you have to use it), Frost giant - yes it will not unlock some doors like inky blaster, but it also shoots decently in the distance and can make you a small additional planforms, so if you are faster you can use them. Airy double trouble (now if you want to pick something on lava, in the air or behind lasers you can; it is also handy to look around corners and under platforms for platfroms without loosing a costume. Jellyjolt - you get it early, swims in water and is immune to electricity and it fights with electric field (and is a must for 2 bosses). Jumping jack - this is the very first good jumping costume you get. Until you get the cat, it is the best jumping costume and it can jump 1 1/4 so it can reach just slightly higher. Paladin puncher (or its earlier version pumpkin puncher). Paladin puncher can break steel blocks, you can move while punching and your 3rd punch is slightly longer. It will also trigger switches and those fists are immune to any enemy buffs (as long as you hit them before they touch your body). Pounding duck - severely overlooked because it looks like pounding pig, but from all pounding costumes it has the widest radius, so it is ideal to keep enemies at the ground at bay. And of course WHERE IS TRIPLE JUMPER? If you had added Moon costume and mentioned that Air unicorn replaced Air cat, why not Triple jumper replacing Double Jumper? And funny enough (also people does not seem to use it), but the only costume that can jump and break iron blocks - Box Fox
Thanks for that wonderful summary! You've got some really great points with those. I definitely agree some of these other costumes deserve some spotlight and yes some are needed to get a few statues but as much as I love Paladin Puncher I never found myself using it a lot, same with a lot of these ones you mentioned. If you used them that's great though! Funny you should mention it, I did make my way through all of chapter 1 and 2 using box fox as much as possible just to see if it's possible, it really adds an interesting difficulty to the game haha
My absolute favourite combat outfit in the game has to be Sickle Slayer. Being able to keep moving after every attack instead of stopping for each one makes fighting on ground level fluid and fun for me.
I always thought Double Jumper's name was a pun that just didn't translate well. Its name in japanese is _Daburujanpā._ I know, it isn't all that different, but if you turn the A and the first U in _"Daburu"_ into an E and I respectively, it becomes _"Debiru"_ or _"Devil."_ So really the name could also be read as _"Devil Jumper."_
Um the launcher from the demo is different from the lethal laser launcher because it depends on which demo you have like the switch one allows you to shoot stars and the steam one allows you to shoot steam so they are different but technically the same
You cannot battle with Balan costume, it does not hit just like Ema or Leo without costume. Same goes for Merry ghost, Fixer Upper, Double trouble and Airy double trouble, Sneaky lizzard and Lickshot lizzard (except of one specific boss fight and very specific conditions). You can however fight with Ladder climber or Teleporter.
The truth is that I do not have a specific costume that I love (who I want to fool I love the ada of frost, even though I do not use it much) I ... for my part, I will accommodate them in combinations , which is more attached to the level that I enter, for example in ALL acts number 3 of all worlds, I always use Balan to collect drops and that ... in the bosses mostly I do not wear any suit ... just to accumulate Of the only 2 that appear in battles, but in the final boss, I have always used, the jellyfish, the wolf tornado, and the battering pumpkin ... Even if I have enough interest in the professional skater... by the way good screenshots ;)
yeah for the most part my first playthrough I made sure to use the costumes found in each stage so I could see how it was meant to be played, but on cleanup and going back to find other missing things, I used these costumes the most :)
@@UnbrokenOdds Yes, that's what the thing is practically about, that you go cleaning the basics in your first round of the level and then you go for the most detailed where other suits are used in the second play.... What i do sometimes , to get more drops, is to clean the level 100 percent and then go to one of the balan feces and multiply it by 2 or 3 or more... and the final result, i register in a notebook, so when i need drops of a specific color i check and see what level to enter... Now that i think about it and lisen to what i say... that sounds very perfectionist xD

Cool! I never played Sonic 06 but that sounds satisfying!

Jelly jolt is really good, i was was watching my recorded footage and I took out a mob of 6 or 7 so easily with it I thought it was really funny Lol
As for the other 70, in the words of general Grievous "a fine addition to my collection"
Air Cat and Double Jumper are the most useful and helpful costumes ever also all the other 80+ costumes are great and unique too.
Super good list, haven't actually finished Balan yet so I'll be keeping these costumes in mind!
Also OMG thank you for featuring my shot of Leo with the Tims in the elevator, I mostly sent it as a joke but I'm glad you liked it!
Haha thanks for sending it I thought it was funny! Hopefully you enjoy the rest!

Sickle slayer is good, also a bit goofy to aim with. You can try Paladin puncher if you like that one.
Oh that's a great point! Yeah I found it weird trying to aim with that costume but it's definitely great!
Oh Paladin puncher! That's a great one too, really love the look of it, so much cooler than the pumpkin puncher Lol

Wow that's really interesting and definitely fits the costume!

Yeah thats true, and the demo one wont break iron blocks, that's why the lethal laser launcher is just a little bit better!
@@UnbrokenOdds um the demo launcher can destroy iron blocks but can’t got through things which mean you can’t get the airy Apollo costume with it
I just got the second statue in 6-2 with it because I like it (note it is behind a iron block)
Never mind lethal laser launcher and the demo launcher are the same but the demo launcher is depending on the demo
Thanks for letting me know, I thought i had tried on Iron and it didn't work but I guess I'm miss remembering!

My favorite costumes are Ladderman, Web Wrangler, Telepotter, and Rail Runner. :)
That's cool! Do you like them for their look or their abilities?
@@UnbrokenOdds I like them for both looks and abilities. :) A friend of mine said Telepotter looks like the Genie from Aladdin :)
There's also Triple Jumper, though it might be hard to get, since its an Act 3 costume.
Yeah I got it late game and it didn't seem much more useful than the double jump

The kitten costume is my daughter!
My favorite costume is fixer upper
Any particular reason?
