Thank you! Man how i love the crunch tones part. Own a Princeton 64 Custom Hand wired myself and I love it. It has a 10" Jensen Blackbird 40 speaker and it sounds great.
The quality of the content is outstanding. The recording, the tone, the playing, the quality of the video itself and even the lighting which delivers a nice warm and cosy ambiance is second to none. Congratulations bro👌👌👌 This channel definitely deserves more subscribers. Keep up the good work and one day you’ll be there. Greetings from France. Nic
Great video !!! Got also a 64' Handwired, but the Jensen was definitely not my thing. Tried the Celestion Gold Alnico, but end up with the Two Rock 10". Because the amp sounds better plugged into a 1x12 TR Oval Back cab, so I decided to mess it up ;)
Hi Petter yes for sure the Alnico gold sounds killer, I’ve got an old fender 2x12 loaded with a gold and a greenback, they make a killer combo. I get it the Jensen ain’t for everyone but I dig it, closest I could get to my super reverb so far anyway.
Man! Congrats! This is again some great content! Very informative, real and honest and no BS! You're playing awesome anyway, but the action at the end with the ES was just 🖤 How would you compare the sound of the PR Custom with a vintage Blachface Super (is it a different animal or somewhat similar with more practical volume)?
@@FoxyVintageGuitarsthe super is its own monster but yes I do find the Princeton similar in ways, I can get the same kind of sounds and pedals feel the same through it, obviously the super is way more but for a practice amp the Princeton offers similar tones and feel so switching between the two feel more natural to me where as when I plug into a Marshall or two rock I need to adjust my ears and setting haha
Thanks for the vid! Enjoyin’ your content! what are your thoughts on this: If you want to achieve that crunchy od-sound at lower volume, could i use an od-pedal like BD-2 instead of an Attenuator? Will it do the job ? Thanks again.
@@mikkellindkjr4734 Thanks a lot man I appreciate that. You are correct that is 100% a great way of getting crunch at a lower volume, it’s just that it is a differnt sound that’s all not better not worse just differnt to how the amp cranked would crunch. I’ve learned that my personal favourite crunch tones generally come from an amp and not a pedal but that’s becuase pedal crunch isn’t also great.
P10r are great speakers. Other speakers? Try to put one cts alnico from your SR to see... if it's good find a good one. I recently got a 67 SR with kendrick blackframe speakers and they are great. Kind like the cts ceramic and great dirty and clean a bit more balanced. You should try a 61 princeton... nice tones that reissue❤
That’s the first thing I did haha sounds epic through the old super reverb speakers. Haven’t heard of those speakers I’ll take a look thanks for the recommendation. I think you might be right about a 61 that or a a late 50s tweed 🤘🏻🖤
@@DaveyBones you will be floored with the tremolo of the 61 princeton... and the dirt... it's a musical little bastard... put a brown reverb tank on top, and that's a stellar rig!
@@beatbaker7420 the bass can definitely get loose and flubby if you really crank it but that’s kind of typical of a fender and to honest I’ve grown to become used to it so not an issue for me, that’s also definitely something that could be controlled with a different speaker if you did find it too much. I always run the amp on around 6 or high and the bass on 3, I find the sound balanced.
Tried or considered the matchless laurel canyon? From what I understand this is a matchless take on the deluxe/Princeton circuit. Don’t see too many of them around or online but interested to try one day myself
My 64 PR is 🤌 Thing ain’t going nowhere. That said, I’ve been hunting for a modern amp as my vintage amps are constantly in and out if service. Maybe I’ll augment with this bad boi.
I bet dude congrats! that’s exactly it, nothing quite like the old one but if your gonna play then everyday then they need a lot of attention, it’s nice to have some thing you don’t need to worry about. That’s also why i love the two rocks but they are there own thing too
The Dude abides... dripping with Swagger and Skills. Love it Davey! Thanks for sharing with us all, looking forward to the next one. ✌🏼

By the way - I think your pickups are set for a similar height. How do you manage volume difference between bridge and neck pickups?

how about the low end feeling in the room? isn't it boomy or loose?
it's my only concern before buying this amp...

Im definitley digging the name haha, Actually I've never tried a Matchless amp maybe its time I did, thanks for the recommendation dude
