    Just curious why do the nails have to be 6" from the sidewall?

    • @themillennialroofer
      @themillennialroofer  2 месяца назад

      Same way you keep all nails as far away as possible from the key ways of the shingles.

    Excellent system. I really like the tabs bent over the low end of the dormer flashing vs the classic method of just nailing and caulking the heads. Dormer flashing on an old house will end up looking like someone shot it up with a machine gun after a half dozen reroofs have been done, and of course, caulking the heads creates a maintenance issue at best. This system should be codified to prevent those issues.

      Yes. Videos like this are helping the installers develop the skills they need to increase the quality of our installs. Clip fasteners on boots and flashing appear to be the future in my opinion.

      @@themillennialroofer Thanks for pointing out it works on boots too. I'd probably squirt some roof jack equivalent under essential shingles adjacent to a pipe boot. Uplift against the pivot point of the straps could be a problem otherwise. Any decent roofer knows not every tar line will seal before it's too late. Not so worried about dormer flashing straps being comparably unexposed though (I wouldn't bother caulking anything other than the corners as you demonstrated).

    Nice work! So do you just slit the vinyl corner post to slide down over your aluminum at the corner where it extends past the corner? Oops Im thinking the corner post is deep enough to miss the protruding aluminum. On the right side would it be easier to remove the corner ??

    • @themillennialroofer
      @themillennialroofer  5 месяцев назад +2

      You can slit the corner. There's around 3/4" of space inside so if you space them right, they don't need slit.

    What supplier are you getting your end wall/apron flashing from? I cannot find that style in black anywhere.

      This was custom made but you can still use the clip method with other styles. 👍

    Wow.. where is this ? Building experts institute? You need to travel the country..I've seen it all and you could definitely use a few pointers. Everyone does a little different but here, there's overkill and why the hell did you do that...
