As someone who works from home, this really helped. Given that I have no commute, I’ll use lower km’s/year as a big bargaining point. I was always under the impression that leasing never leaves you a winner, but I think I can make a case in my scenario.

Business owner. I work from home with occasional trips to clients (mobile notary and accountant). Leasing made sense for the moment.

@@geneclover7748 I’m going to assume the low monthly payments and the included car maintenance. Depending on the vehicle he’s driving new, might also be getting real good MPG on the road and saving on gas as well.

💯unless you can afford to pay for a car in its totality a lease is the way to save money. We ALL know the minute you finish paying on your financed car it starts to give problems that require money to fix🤣

I want to say I watched this from start to finish and it was very informative so thank you Ryan, I learned some things about leasing! I’m not one to lease a vehicle (even if it is $0 down) but for someone who is inclined to do that, I’m sure that what you did with screen-sharing your convo with the broker would be especially helpful!

Sales tax is another key factor to consider. Most states charge sales tax only on the down payment, the monthly depreciation, and the eventual buy-out, versus paying sales tax on the entire purchase price when buying.

@@wolfrig2000you pay interest on your loan, you’re financing the amount needed to cover the depreciation, tax, and fees. $25,000 Car sale with a 63% residual, says the car buyout in 36 months is $15,750. Walked into a dealer with the goal to lease. Negotiated for 3 hours. I got the price down exactly what I wanted it to be.
The GM and finance managers asked if I ever leased before because I asked things no customer has ever asked and they gave me props.
I told them I've worked in corporate finance for a decade and am now a licensed investment banker. They could not break me.
They joked that I probably knew more than their finance department and if I want a job we can schedule the interview tomorrow. Lol. I did know more. They had a good laugh.

Like really learn to drive good and practice for a few years b4 getting something luxury and expensive. Open credit and build your miata a bit while you save up money for a few years. If you're talking about pothole insurance, paint stuff, limited damage, extended warranty and whatever else the dealership wants to throw in generally the answer is $0. Often your own insurance will cover those type of things and most of the time they're just needless money makers like VIN etching and what not. The exceptions IMO is when the offer has real value and was sincerely offered.
