You can thank the business sector for not increasing wages to keep up with the inflation rate of 6.61% in 2022 and 4.1% in 2023. If businesses as a group fail to keep wages at the inflation rates they eventually find that customers stop spending in their businesses. Businesses keeping a lid on wages has come back to bite them.
All by design. So they can centralize into one large business conglomerate, and keep more profits and turn the middle and poor class as the slave class
all on labor !! it was hard before, but these guys have fast tracked their demise, labor and all their poor policies across so many sectors is killing this country!!!
i own a business and pay tax on time , ATO has Allowed none tax paying none super paying bossiness to trade while insolvent , and not pay there contractors , good to see the ATO cracking down on them

A lot of the problem is to much red tap High prices on raw materials High prices on transporting materials And all that get put on to the price that people pay for it To fix this scrap GST And everything goes down by 10%
The government should differentiate the taxes, penalty rates, superannuation, insurance, etc between small businesses and big corporations. Small businesses pay more rents in SQM and still need to pay a lot of taxes, superannuation, insurance, and it’s effecting the cash flow
Wages have not kept up with inflation for years, then businesses find that people cannot afford to buy from your business no sympathy. One report said that wages went up by 8% in 2 years but inflation went up by 10.7% so a shortfall of 2.7% so it should be no surprise when you have less customers...... because they can no longer afford to shop at your business much like when those businesses couldnt afford increase wages at the inflation rate.

Because of the anti business government.
No wages have not kept up with inflation so now the public cannot afford to shop in businesses.

If govt were in private sector ALL would be failed enterprises
After Covid, about half of all small businesses in Australia closed their doors.
10 years ago I walked into a Godfrey’s store and looked around and thought: “how is this place still in business?”
is it any surprise? Labor wants government dependency and just jobs for its corporate mates.
