Dr Kurt Tank was a renowned German aircraft designer during WWII. He designed the Focke Wulf 190 fighter for the Germans ( among lots of other aircraft) which became very very famous and was feared by the Allied airmen. After the war, he moved to Argentina and then to India where he became involved in the design of Asia's FIRST SUPERSONIC fighter the HAL 24 Marut ( 'Wind Spirit') . He also served as director of the Madras Institute of Technology, where Dr Kalam got his diploma in aerospace engineering..that happened under a very famous German aircraft designer. Just an interesting aside you might want to know.

The man never accepted an gift as being a President of a Nation. When his brother came to visit him and stayed with him in Rastrapati Bhavan (Presidential Residence) he being a humble man paid for his brothers stay from his salary. As a matter of fact when his tenure was over he left the Presidential Residence with just 1 suitcase which had his 1 or 2 pair of suit I was told. He is a proud, dignified, humble Indian President ever to be. We as Indians love him and will admire him always.

He is the Gem of India. There has never been a man like him or will be in the future. He is a true Indian without a spec of doubt in anyone's heart. The man never accepted an gift as being a President of a Nation. When his brother came to visit him and stayed with him in Rastrapati Bhavan (Presidential Residence) he being a humble man paid for his brothers stay from his salary. As a matter of fact when his tenure was over he left the Presidential Residence with just 1 suitcase which had his 1 or 2 pair of suit I was told. He is a proud, dignified, humble Indian President ever to be. We as Indians love him and will admire him always.
