I've creek fished all my life. My experience is the same as yours. Very few fish in still water, but in the moving water, they're everywhere!

I grew up fishing small watershed creeks in east central Georgia. Doesn’t require a lot of expensive equipment & loads of fun! Redfin pickerel was often the target species.

@bill beachbound • exactly my best friend Cliff and I used to do exactly that in fact there was a large farm 65 miles southeast of where we lived and every year in opening day of Pheasant season we just drooled over the prospect of hunting some of this land well we finally got permission from the old couple who owned it they gave us written permission then the old boy took us on a tour and showed us where he kept his Cattle that time of year and asked us not to hunt that area or shoot in that direction, my buddy and I were more than happy so in the spring we went for a drive around the perimeter of the property and wrote down lose or down fencing busted or shot to hell no trespassing and no hunting signs the next weekend we went back and did the necessary repairs at out cost which wasn't that much and after that we were like family to that couple who also had some nice spring fed ponds and a huge creek running through the property. Every year on opening day of hunting we would arrive a couple of hours before daylight and catch some sleep in our pickup the old man would come out and knock on the window to tell us to come on in the house as mother as he called her had breakfast done let's eat. That lasted for 15 years and the old man passed away and the kids sold the place in order to put the woman in a nursing home needless to say the new owners were A Holes but still we had a great 15 year run.

    What up Tennessee creek fisher?
Michigan creek fisher here. Throw a piece of cut bait in there. You'll catch the Giant. I caught a 20-30 lbs channel cat on a small creek 2 summers ago in shallow water smaller than that creek.
People laugh but there are monsters in there. I catch and release too. That creek i fish by my house is 6 feet wide and 2 feet deep usually with holes and undercuts. I had fished this spot 20 times before the big one showed himself i never knew there was that big of channel cats in such small water. I also caught pike bullheads and panfish and rough fish i like creeks more than big water in the summer. I use an ice fishing rod for real thick brush and hard to fish spots.

That's a very cool spot. Sometimes fishing takes a back seal to enjoying nature! I'd toss out some meal worms in there - light up those little panfish. I just use it on a Trout Magnet setup that i leave rigged on a creek pole. They can't resist those fat juicy meal worms - catch 6-8 little guys on a single worm! Great video - as usual.

I like how you said the bluegill was pecking at it. Bluegill have a tendency to be more curious as they follow and peck at lures, while redbreasts and pumpkinseeds are more willing to hit without much curiosity.
