I was fortunate to meet him back stage when he was performing Zoom Suit in Los Angeles .. I was a young high school kid at the time.. ( 18 yrs old) - what I remember was that he was so humble, and so disarming after such an incredible performance, night after night ❤️!
Edward James Olmos played Castillo with such intensity without being intense. He would sometimes say something without saying anything, and when he did something, he did it and that was it.
was there ever a series regular in a broacast crime drama with less lines and more impact? Incredible. Also that he was allowed to act it out this way. Truly iconic
Castillo was THE man. Absolutely commanded respect, lived by a code and was loyal to a fault. Any unit he was in charge of would have walked on hot coals barefoot for him. After the episode "Bushido" you knew what this man was about.
There’s the one fault with Miami Vice: Why did they need Crockett and Tubs, when all they had to do was send the Lieutenant in. He works in every situation.
MV was such a landmark show in so many ways. Had it been a HBO owned show ....they could have gotten away ith so much more (like The Sopranos)...i think needed to best portray Miami crime `life`. though, if they did that the show wouldn`t have reached as wide an audience....still be a mega hit...as The Sopranos was...also `landmark`....they both did a lot of firsts....
"I want that slime flushed down the sewer... Supplement your income, gentlemen. you're pimps..." ( smirks ) There's nothing wrong with caring, as long as it doesn't get in the way of the job." That last one reminds of a Dirty Harry quote: "There's nothing wrong with shooting, as long as the right people get shot."
6:36 pleaseee someone tell me what season and episode this is possibly from?!?! WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO? my imagination... I'm hoping it's something to do with a morally grey action that EDWARD made and DON'S asking him if he should......!!!! So please tell me episide, season ?!?
Zombies usually don't talk. What I liked about him is he was so grim, intimidating, a man of few words but he made what he said count. I found him very convincing as a leader and a badass. Even though I liked Lt Rodriguez before him, the show felt complete when he came on board as Lt Castillo.
His performance is truly unique. The actor is not physically imposing, yet he plays the character so convincingly, with such authority. Brilliant!
Spot on.
Good point! Amazing how intimidating he can be just with the stare.
His stare and voice never really raised, when he whispered though you took him seriously.
absolute perfect summation ... may I add beyond brilliant !!!
I met Mr. Olmos at a charity event in Miami in the mid 80s and was struck by how humble he was. That lesson served me well all these years.
Awesome! Must be exciting meeting him face to face, though I think it's a very intelligent and friendly man in real life.
The eyes! Castillo's eyes say it all! James Edward Olmos - great actor!
The look, the cold stare, said it all. Great actor. The eyes said; "I'm a bad ass".

That is a great actor
I cannot express how pleased i was when he described how reserved he wanted to slowly develop and grow know a lot of people thought he was being rude.
L. Castillo was/is DA MAN ... that stare could move mountains and drain seas ... &&&&& Bless the entire Brilliant Crew ... +++ Yerkovich and Mann !!!
Natural authority, no nonsense, great boss.

Castillo says so much with only his face and eyes.
Now that's leadership.
Outstanding performance from a great actor

What season and episode is this legendary BUSHIDO you speak of please?!
This was really good. Totally captured who the character was.
Absolutely the wrong cat to fuck around with.
Castillo Cold as 🧊
Castillo is a no bs, righteous badass 👍
It's rummored Castillos stares can melt lead....and why does crocket sound like he inhaled helium?...😂
Today, I think I acutually watched Miami Vice for Castllo
I always was….
…Still, the ultimate, cop, badass!!!…
Castillo was the real deal
"your people go on strike?" the funniest Boss Castillo line
2:39 I love how they used the crazy camera focus to the point where it makes it look like there's a green screen behind the actors...
Staring contest.
Castillo vs Chuck Norris.
That's a tough bet.
🤔
1:14 *that LAUGH/SCOFF at the end, tho!!!*
Olmos magistral comme flic dans miami vice sérieux respecter juste strict autoritaire un vrai flic humain bravo
I met him last week in miami during the miami vice event.
Edward James Olmos was excellent. O loved him as Castillo
0:21 *dayyyyyyyyyummmmm!!! put HIM in check!!*
2024 Happy 40th Anniversary Miami Vice. I Love the 1980s.
Lt. Castillo was all business and did not play around
You missed one: "I'm just doing what you're afraid to do. One day, i'll bury you too."
So much powerfull!!!👊🏼🖤#respectthemustacheman
There’s the one fault with Miami Vice:
Why did they need Crockett and Tubs, when all they had to do was send the Lieutenant in. He works in every situation.
For some reason I kept expecting Castillo to make an origami figure out of a piece of paper or a wood matchstick.
Of course everybody listens to Commander Adama!
Did you notice the scene where he and Brother Cavil were together?
Has that sense of stillness like Pacino in the Godfather.
Let. Castillo talks with his eyes
Edward James Olmos played the role of casteil perfectly!
Castillo has better things to do then to shake hands with slimeballs he has big fishes to get remember lol
I would love to play the lieutenant role on the new Miami Vice ... if it ever comes to fruition. 😂

Edward James Olmos in my opinion is one of the greatest actors alive today!!!!!!!!
Olmos just didn't get enough playing time during the show's run. I almost don't want to watch an episode if it doesn't focus on Castillo
Olmos always reminded me of a Spanish version of Morris Day..cool & collected
No empty macho posturing with this guy, he proves his awesomeness by doing things and getting them done!
Eddie Olmos was born to play Castillo ❤
If I was a Cop I would hope I would have a Lt Castillo's or a Admiral Adama in like him ❤
3:49 *that real estate lady from the WallStreet movies!!*
Dude never blinked.
Maiami vice era y sigue siendo una buena pelicula de accion.
5:28 *ohhhhhhhhhh SHYT.... quietest voice - but the LOUDEST IN THE ROOM!!*
The Mt. Rushmore of law enforcement actors Charles Bronson, Chuck Norris, Clint Eastwood, and Edward James Olmos
Like Castillo was a chess grand master and the detectives were playing checkers with a few pieces missing.
I think I worked for him!
He was made by Cyberdyne Systems.
Model 102. Model 101 was the action man. Model 102 had the eyes man, the eyes that can stare you into ultimate submission.
Cyberdyne was constructed for purposes of evil Martin Castillo as human and born to be good
What song is this 7:40??? "...that's the sound of...." please tell me, its sounds really cool seriously
Cry by Godley and Creme.
I was scared of Lt. when I was a kid!
this is my city.
Is this where you put them all together.
This is my city. Captaine four star what ever...
7:04 *BUSHIDO!!!*
One of the best episodes!
"You never said he was Thai."
"I want that slime flushed down the sewer...
Supplement your income, gentlemen. you're pimps..." ( smirks )

4:22 IS THAT EDDY ARCADIA from THE LAST DRAGON???!!!! 🤔😇🤗😎
He looks like someone who would have really bad breath 🤭
Too much cheetos in the morning :)
He’d give you a cold stare over that.
When Miami was great.
Blind?😊👍
excedrin one bottle. That is all- clear eveerthing out.

17:28 Don Johnson was looking rather scruffy at that point.
Sorry i actually liked the orignal one coould never get in to him but wow he was so badd ass

The ending of Miami Vice was horrible. They made Castillo the bad guy
I just rewatched but was not able to see how Castillo was the bad guy. You have different insights on this?
I run the show, listen to me. you are nothing.
I don't get it, act walk and talk like a zombie and get kudos for it.
