Mountain range is my current favorite map. The water source blocks are configured in a way that a large 5x5 Iron Teeth platform can be placed above it. And then place levees in a 6x6 around the platform to create the center shaft that fills with water upwards for a massive ziggurat. At the top of the shaft are dams to let the water spill out on all 4 sides. And because of the large platform you can place those regular platforms on it to be able to place district center at the very top of the shaft.
It is a really great map, I did the same with the large metal platform and built a large basin around it. Instead of the district center I opted to place a Tribute of Ingenuity on top. Awesome to see other people do similar things. You can check the progress of my Mountain Range makeover here: ruclips.net/p/PLW31f4mF7OxZLngheQPcSEJ3zPf-K-8qT
Meander is such a great map with allot of opportunities (esp on Hard Mode). At first glance, it doesn't seem like much, But then again, your basing your ranking on how much fun you had playing on each map. Most vanilla maps in my opinion, are top tier.
Normally I only play / watch Rimworld, but someone on my channel recommended Timberborn. I thorougly enjoyed watching this video, so you got a like and a sub from me my friend.
Meander was my 1st map and i fully recommend... Harder to start because of available growing land but a lot of opportunities in future... Bare in mind i had to play it before water farm
For me, what we need is more water source variety. Ones that have varied flow (from like 3- to 7) so every season you can get a wetter or drier one. IMHO, maps where you have to defend yourself against water are missing. Options of a) disabling/enabling a water source after the warm-up time, or b) having some temporary events that affect the flow. (water, don't exit the map or do it twice as fast. Or like temporary spring popping up somewhere, pest like locust or forest fires, earthquake that damages some structure, stuff like that) I feel like once you make a big dam, there is not enough things to stop you.
I think they should add weather ( temperature [effects Grow speed]-- freeze the water, give beavers heatstroke if you work them too hard mid day in summer) various precipitation ( rain, snow, monsoon, etc.) & You have to worry about draining precipitation. ( Maybe give beavers the ability to dig soil to 1 step lower than surrounding soil using their claws.) -- stairs have multiple steps per levee size volume. .. maybe disasters ( tornado, flash flood, hurricane, lightning damage to tall buildings etc.)
Update 5 will be adding something new in the form of "bad water" which can also be a replacement for the draught which should make things a lot harder to figure out and just damming up isn't going to be a solution since it will poison your reservoir.
I love seeing how nobody uses the first group of beavers after touching iron teeth lol. I find the control of breeding pods far to good and then adding some other specific changes like how one number cruncher can easily put several other beavers to other jobs.
I played my first game on Plains. Eventually filled up the entire map with about a dozen districts, used dynamite to completely redesign a couple mountains and create a couple new lakes, and got my total population over 3000 at the peak. Unfortunately, it was several updates ago and no longer compatible, so I can't play that one anymore.
That's awesome, love to shape the maps to my likings with dynamite too =] You should still be able to load it up and play it, I have had maps from well over a year ago loaded in the current Experimental version of the game. When the warning pops up just continue with loading.
@@Barthak Okay yeah, I guess I can. Loaded up and all my bakerys and grills are flashing to pick recipes, and there are a bunch of gaps where the old metal workshops were. Can't build any mines, but I have a bunch of new foods and stuff to update it with. I forgot I can only play on low speed because it's so crowded ...
If I wasn't limitated by my laptop, I'd really like to play this game. I've seen quite a few let's play and was recommended your channel by YT and sometimes suggestions are a good match. I already watched your timelaps and I'm currently looking Fountain Moutain. Like what you do, you gained a subscriber. If I could play on Waterfalls I'd close the boards of the map to create a big lake and 4 districts on the corners thank's to terraformation and join them with platforms and bridges.
Thank you for your sub =] Normally I would say, just play it on your laptop, but this game does have some late-game performance issues which really bog down the fps. It's an amazing game tho!
....You do know you can move the starting district, right? you don't necessarily have to build a second district to get to the metal on the more-difficult maps.
You will need to redo this video now with the Badtides. They do change the way the maps are played.

Yeah I am sure I'll have a proper playthrough on Meander in the near future. Good to know you enjoyed it!

Danke!
I move my city center around all the time until I'm ready to make more cities.
Terraces was my favorite! Kind of like a puzzle getting off of the start point. And bigger than the small puzzle map
Meander was my 1st map and i fully recommend... Harder to start because of available growing land but a lot of opportunities in future... Bare in mind i had to play it before water farm
Brilliant video, thank you

IMO Hard Mode is where the game becomes amazing!
Thousand islands and meander are my fav maps, thousand islands was m hairstyle playthrough, it was awesome
been playing this map called badlands . 1 single water source the river it flows down is only 1-2 wide and the metal is on the other side of a forest
that seems like a good challenge!
I played all maps in hard mode and the only difference with your rating is just waterfalls map, for me is S tier, anyway I liked the video 👍👍👍

I would love to be able to upload some maps for people to try, I wonder if they'll ever make it a thing or if I am missing something 🤔
Most people share their maps at timberbornmaps.com , but yeah integrated with Steam workshop would be a welcome addition, same for mods.
@@Barthak oh that's actually very helpful, thank you sir!

Very helpful. Can you update this to update 5? Thank you
Final ranking starts at 36:21
Any particular reason why you didn't like lakes? Did you just find it boring? Thanks :)

Good old days, before the game went to shit.
