Matthew. Just so you know ( good job ). I just installed a 36K and learned that I needed to remove the cover only after I had completed the install. I had seen your video and wished I had seen your video before mounting to the wall. I contacted Pioneer tech support and they told me they could email me a video. I recived the email from Pioneer and it's this video. First they should put a big warning sticker suggesting pre-installing a wifi adapter AND they should reward you in some way for your posting. It was a pain, as you suggest but I got it finally done. Thank you for the posting.
I held off for over a year waiting to install my Wi-Fi because I watch this video and thought I had to take the whole thing apart. My Diamanté Pro only requires taking the cover off the electrical connections, sliding out the circuit board and plug in the Wi-Fi board and then, wrapping the wires and screwing the Wi-Fi module onto the cover. Simpler! My WYS models simply plug into a USB port. Those are sweet.
Thanks for doing this, I think you are right in that it is the only one. Just a suggestion... I notice Amazon has a kit that allows you to mount an iPhone to a head strap or a chest strap. So for $20 you can have your other hand back. :)
Heads up if you got a Diamante with a small white USB thumb-drive-looking thing; just lift the front panel, look up, and plug it in. No screw removal needed. This video helped me realize this one is different though. Thank you for posting.
Have the same mini-split and module. Was surprised to see you mount it to the lid. It's made to mount to the body of the mini-split. It mounts just to the left of the barcode sticker. If you use the mounting holes there it sits flush, the line is the perfect length, and the WIFI chip is oriented forward in the correct direction. I'm guessing what you did works, but the line is short and the wifi range is probably reduced. Mine also came with the screw.
I don't know if they changed the design, but mine couldn't go anywhere except for the lid. You can see an outlined form that perfectly seats the module around it. I'm glad they made it the way you have, it's mind of a pain to have the wires restricting the movement of the lid.
@@matthewdittman the design didn't change. You have the fastening location just to the left of your barcode. There is a tab hole and a screw hole right there that it goes in.
@@matthewdittmanthis is correct. It does not sit flush on certain models it had to go on the lid for mine as well even though it fits exactly. I think the realized their mistake on later models and it was the cheapest way to fix it.
Well, Maybe I’m crazy but I just purchased a mini split just like this MODELWT012ALFI19HLE and it appears you can plug the Wi-Fi modulator in without taking the cover off. Shouldn’t take any more than a pair of needle nose pliers to plug in.
Great video. You made it look pretty easy. Kinda lazy for them not to include the module. To much opportunity for me to damage the plastic, so I think I'll pass.
Edit: I think the new Diamantes have a USB wifi dongle now. I thought the Diamante Ultras came with Wifi installed..or are you saying they sell the unit without the wifi inserted already? That would be rediculous. Thanks for the vid!
this was helpful! i have the 36k version and it appears the whole shroud doesn't need to come off. the electrical section has a larger cover that reveals much more access area. unrelated question though, did your unit also come with 2 2x6" black filters? i cant seem to find where they want them installed.

Do you have the correct app? It should be "SmartLife-SmartHome" I had some difficulty creating an account because you need some type of code that didn't come with the module. Let me see if I can find it. Otherwise, what specifically is the issue you're having?
As stated before, the issue I had was in creating an account. The module didn't come with a QR code that worked or a code. The code I ended up using was "Pioneer" and was able to finish setting up my account and adding my devices without any hiccups.
@@matthewdittman yeah I have the correct app. Also have the account setup. When I get to the end where the app tries to connect to the wifi module it always goes past the 2 minutes and times out. As long as it is set up correctly. After installation, you may want to have an HVAC tech check the installation.
