Nice upgrade. The USB idea came out super clean! I really like how you did it. I currently have Apple CarPlay on my W212 using the factory screen. It’s a similar setup to yours but without the big screen. I can do music, movies, screen mirroring, BT, CarPlay, android auto and more. Looks OEM since it’s the regular screen and I can flip back and fourth from CarPlay to NTG
Hey Thanks buddy! yes I am familiar with that black box unit, and that is a cool feature as well! I wanted the bigger screen for better viewing pleasure, and more bells and whistles that came with it than the original NTG 6 1/2 in-dash non-touch screen, just a preference.

Are you getting an audio delay? You'll notice better with video. What year is you w218? Are you doing audio through usb or aux? Do you have media controls? Track forward and back How does wireless carplay work for you? Love the USBs
Hey Bro, There is only a slight initial delay when automatically switches radio audio to AUX to hear Carplay after that iTunes plays just fine, 2014. NTG DVD video world fine, There is a preloaded video in Android, seems to work fine. My audio is through my AMI cable. I can use the Track knob and Back button for everything except Back button from NTG to Android screen. My Car play is wired, USB Thanks so much, Your install Videos were very helpful!
Sorry, I did not create one because there are several installation videos on here already, And yes the backup cam pops on even from the home screen and any screen that you are in for that matter, Thanks!
Hey Man, great video! Any issues with Aux switching? When going to Android mode (car play) do you have to go back regularly to NTG to switch to Aux or is it automatic? Just Curious
Thanks so much! So there is a bluetooth toggle switch and also a pre-set aux switch in the screen's settings you turn on, and I have an iPhone and if my Bluetooth is switched on my phone anytime I get in the car it goes to CarPlay once the unit is on, it does not go back to NTG mode automatically if I turn off the phone Bluetooth, you have to manually do that, but I don't have a problem with it. Hope this helps.
Hi mate. I know you bought this unit online, but do you know the brand of it. Want to do more research on it. Was looking at another brand but wasn’t really apple car play friendly. As want to know if available for RHD cls as I live in Australia. Cheers
Hey down under! I love Sydney and Melbourne! I'm sorry I don't know the brand name of it, it was an unlabeled box, You can google the title of this video, and I think it works for both LHD and RHD, All the best! Thanks
This is definitely not a straight forward install, it does require some skill with some electrical and car stereo install experience, there are some install videos here on RUclips you can check out. Yes for the GPS you can just leave it the way it is and use the standard GPS that Mercedes provides in NTG mode with no problem, or you can use your nav through CarPlay or you can use the Google GPS that comes with the unit provided you have a Sim card to install in the unit or phone hotspot. Hope this helps, Thanks for watching

My experience is still as it was on day one, I am very happy with the unit and never had any problems with it thankfully! it works perfect! there are still a lot of bells and whistles I haven't used yet, The only thing I wish I'd mentioned in my video is to upgrade the hardware that it comes with during installation because it's such cheesy screws and metal fasteners, And the moment I hit a bump in the road the screen becomes loose and wiggley. Also I do wish there was a way I can watch Netflix, Tubi, and Pluto channel apps through the unit, unfortunately that is disabled and would need "magic box" to do so, you can listen to the audio throughout the car from the movie playing through your phone's app but not watch the video on the big screen, so I want to figure out an inexpensive a way to view those apps and movies. What issues are these guys having?
@@zamzamar9376 Yeah it does take a second or two in audio switching with auto mode, But for me it never gets hungup in one mode.
