  • These commercials aired on CBS on November 1st, 1981
    1. "Every Which Way But Loose" Intro
    2. Timex (With Rene Russo)
    3. Yahtzee
    4. Extra-Strength Tylenol (A year before the Tylenol murders, a case involving Extra-Strength Tylenol capsules tampered with by an unknown person and laced with cyanide that killed at least 7 people in the Chicago area. This incident forced OTC drug manufactures to make their packaging tamper proof and sealed and harmed Tylenol's reputation with consumers for years)
    5. CBS Special Movie Presentation Bumper
    6. Chevy S-10
    7. Magnavox (With Leonard Nimoy. Amazing imagery in this ad...not to mention Nimoy with a mustache!)
    8. One A Day Plus Extra C
    9. Tender Vittles (With Dunkin' Donuts man Michael Vale and Estelle Harris)
    10. CBS Special Movie Presentation Bumper
    11. Promo for "The Dukes Of Hazzard" and "The Princess And The Cabbie"
    12. CBS Station ID
    13. Indiana Hiring Line
    14. Ponderosa
    15. Promo for "PM Magazine"
    16. CBS Special Movie Presentation Bumper
    17. Olympus OM10 (With Cheryl Tiegs)
    18. Raintree Hand & Body Lotion (With Natalie Wood. This was just a few weeks before her death from drowning on 11/29/81, the exact details of which are still under debate: en.wikipedia.o... This ad was almost certainly pulled from circulation after that)
    19. Firestone Trax 12 Radial Tire
    20. TV Spot for "Time Bandits"
    21. CBS Special Movie Presentation Bumper
    22. Promo for "Private Benjamin" and "The Two Of Us"
    23. WISH 8 News Break (Man, look at all of those Silver and Bronze Age comic books at 9:47. However much they were worth back then is nothing compared to today. The Giant-Size X-Men #1 seen at the bottom center can fetch over $10k today depending on the condition and the X-Men #3 next to it has sold for over $30k! I would need to look closer to identify the other comics but all told that entire collection of comics could easily be worth over 500 grand today if they were all in very good to near mint condition)
    24. WNAP FM 93
    25. 8 News Break Bumper
    26. Coke (With Bill Cosby)
    27. WISH 8 News Bumper
    28. CBS Special Movie Presentation Bumper
    29. Volkswagen Rabbit Diesel
    30. Betty Crocker Super Moist Cake and Creamy Deluxe Frosting
    31. NyQuil

Time Bandits was a staple of my childhood viewing when my family got HBO and the other movie channels in the early 80s. Discovered some great cult gems, like this, Electric Dreams, Twice Upon a Time, and Rock & Rule back in those days. The early days of paid movie channels were so much fun, because of the bizarre and small films they would frequently play to fill up air time.

0:30 I wish the future that was predicted in the 80s came to fruition instead of the crappy one we actually got.

Interesting to see the magnavox ad with leonard nimoy, I know there was that promo video for laserdisc players that he was in, so first time I've seen any of the other ads they had him in!

I thought that was Michael Vale in the Tender Vittles ad - I was right! Awesome! I also love the shaving cream ad parody with WNAP!

The actor in the Firestone commercial is Dick Christie, who would go on to play the dad on Small Wonder.

That Yahtzee commercial is a bit older than 1981, as Challenge Yahtzee came out in 1974 and the original Yahtzee changed its logo by this point. Jackpot Yahtzee came out in 1980

9:47 - I collect retro video games myself, but have some friends who would probably give their right nut to get a chance to even hold some of those comics on display.

4:31 Maybe if Estelle has a cat, she wouldn’t have nagged Frank or George so often.

Timex- The creators of this commercial must have had Star Wars heavily on the brain when they came up with this commercial, given the vibes of the franchise I get from it.
Betty Crocker Super Moist Cake And Creamy Deluxe Frosting- The cake that the woman and her child made in this commercial looks so good, that, makes me want to grab the cake out of her hands, run away with it and eat it myself.

Every Which Way But Loose-shame Eastwood never made a third film, thus making it a trilogy
The Princess And The Cabbie-"Never.see him.again!"..hopefully he had a change of heart by movie's end
Time Bandits-guess Taika Watiti's planned remake is never happening, which may be a good thing
The Two Of Us-missed opportunity not having Bill Withers's song as the theme

7:10 -7:34 the late Great and Beautiful Natalie Wood! She passed away November 29, 1981 so Which means she must have film this Commercial before less than a month in half later she Would Drown she was a very lovely Woman! drowned in the Pacific Ocean near Santa Catalina Island during a break from production of her would-be comeback film Brainstorm (1983). She was with her husband Wagner and Brainstorm co-star Christopher Walken.

This is mentioned in the video description. The commercial would have been filmed months before this, but yes this aired less than a month before her death.

$42 in 1981 money is now $138 when adjusted for inflation. You have to do this when you're comparing prices with today and 42 years ago.

Rick Dees' fake giggling while giving the synopsis for lame sitcoms is unbearable.
