I love my Callaway mini, I love the forgiveness and consistent yardage. I don’t use it off the deck ever and didn’t with my 3 wood so it’s a perfect 3 wood replacement!
@sylvandude1 Same here. I play it with the heavy weight in back. My 3 wood was a club I used 90% of the time off the tee on sub 400 yard par 4s. This fits the bill perfectly.
Used the Taylormade yesterday for first time . Was pleasantly surprised ! Used it instead of my 3 wood. I gained more distance and accuracy especially hitting it off the deck .
AWESOME i was waiting for this review from someone just bought the BRNR mini but was wondering about the PXG mini might switch well done James cheers from Canada
the adjustable weights in the PXG is what pulled me in (having 4 instead of the 2). I like my BRNER mini a lot, but when comparing it to the PXG, I was able to se the PXG to a much more cut setup where the TM is def more set for a draw. Really enjoyed this review!
which year did you have. I found the first burner was closed face the newest open face. each time i bought the wrong loft because of that. Thats why i like the new cobra adapter. face sits square no matter what lie or loft no need.
Love your videos James but please could we get some comparison data of yardages and dispersion up on the screen in the future? I find myself pausing and taking screen shots the data to compare 🤣. I play the TaylorMade mini driver but the look of the club really doesn't do it for me. Love how the PXG looks but would you say it's worth the swap?
Great video once again on the topic of Mini-Drivers James... thank you. I loved the look of the TaylorMade mini-driver, and after your last video review i went out and bought myself one.. but i can never launch it quiet high enough, i took it for a Trackman Session and found that im swinging at 98mph clubhead speed but the apex is only 21ft. Carry is around 207yds. I wonder what am i doing wrong, would really appreciate it if you did an instructional video on how to hit a mini-driver... Thanks and all the best! Baz
You just arnt presenting the correct dynamic loft, set it to the highest loft, and/or hit up on it like you should with a driver. 21ft is a thin bullet btw not even a correct strike unless you have done a typo there.
Sub 2000 spin with an 11.5 mini is wild! I personally prefer the Callaway just because I use it only off the tee. My 5 wood goes far enough, don’t need a 3 wood or to hit anything off the deck from that far out.
I swapped out a driver for the TM mini driver and set it just above standard. It saved me approx 5-6 shots per round due to being in play. Yes, it was 20 yds back but, it's better being 220yds and in play than 240yds and OOB or in trees. James, how do you hit them ? Do you treat it like a 3 wood set up or do you hit up like a driver. I've tried with different tee heights and find it better teeing lower.
PXG all day long for me. The ability to get some draw fade bias into that club with having to change face angle compared to Callaway or TM is invaluable. I play league golf and can set the club to fit certain holes and shots required.
I had the taylormade original mini driver from a few years ago and I have ungraded to the callaway ai smoke mini. I love the smoke so much I sold the taylormade. Great club!!
I play with a guy in his 70s. Tees driver way too high and usually hits down on it. Pops it up all the time. Brought him a mini driver to try. Made him tee it down because he kept trying to tee it up. Hit baby fades down the middle all day 200-220. We were all going crazy. At the end of the round be handed it back to me, and said, I don't like it.
Should’ve waited till you could have included the titleist mini driver since you are such a fan of the mini driver been waiting for your thoughts on that
Thanks for the review James. I’d like to see a club manufacturer create a quicker weight adjustment with the front and back weights so that off the tee the heavy weight is forward then on your next shot off the deck you can quickly flip the heavy weight back to help with higher launch. The adjustable screw in weights are great, but give me a mechanism to quickly shift them front to back and back to front, then you’ve created something new.
That’s illegal in a round, not allowed to alter the playing characteristics of a club. So if he hit the ground hard with a club and bend the shaft cannot use it again as you have changed it. Unless you have less than 14 clubs in the bag then I think ( not 100% sure) the altered club becomes a new club in your allowance of 14 clubs
I went and hit the Pxg two days ago and hit the Callaway a last year. The song and feel of PXG was better. PXG sounds similar to driver. Didn’t see huge gains over my 3wood but had set at 13 degrees.
Enjoyed the video, but if the point was to find the most forgiving, why not put the heavier weight in the back where each head would have the higher MOI?
All I know is that my driving accuracy went from hitting 20% of fairways to 80% of fairways switching from TM to Callaway. It was a game changer for me. I shaved 10 strokes off my handicap overnight. I would never buy another TM driver. All their equipment is way overpriced as well.
I watch your videos all the time but don’t comment but I have to on this one. For one you left out the Titleist and two you didn’t hit them off the deck which is what we’re most interested in with this club.
Why on earth would you be most interested in a mini DRIVER off the deck? If thats your main priority/interest this isnt the type of club you need, get a fairway wood with the loft required for your distance needs. Its called a mini driver not a massive fairway wood for a reason 😎
@@TimOstrander-t8x as I understand it with the 12 or 13 degree head and a 3 wood length shaft, it’s more forgiving than your driver and because you’re closer to the ball with the shorter shaft, you’re more confident and hit the ball more down the middle. Because it has a slightly smaller head, some golfers will also use it on the fairway. I took an old Callaway Xhot driver I had, adjusted the loft up and had the shaft cut down to 43”. When my current Driver gets a little wild and needs a “timeout”, the shortened Xhot comes out of the bag for a few holes before I go back to the Driver.👍
@ it’s kind of like taking a step back in the past, might as well use my old Dunlop driver from 25 years ago before everything went big but thanks for your help.
I can’t see a reason to put a mini driver in my bag, it will just turn log par 4’s into par 5’s… I think you need to be hitting driver 280-300. To justify having this club in the bag.
@@jackiemoon_lms If you watched the video in its entirety, its clear he hit hardly any shots with the PXG and with no data as usual given with regards to dispersion or standard deviations etc its actually just James opinion the TM is the winner. Thats completely fine as its his channel and test to. You however telling someone it was the most accurate and consistent of the three is also just an opinion with nothing to back it up :)
Getting fitted for the PXG this Sunday.

I've got the old ping rapture 3wood mini driver if you want to test it!
JRob, I bought the Burner mini this past summer and love it!

PXG makes the best clubs in the world, in my opinion. James, another great video my friend. Keep them coming and God Bless you.
PXG seems the best?

Love my TM Mini Driver fantastic club
I have a PXG 2 wood extra stiff game changer👍
Titleist tsr2+ 13 degree 3 wood beats all of these.. Utter beast of a club amd changed my game from the tee
Should’ve waited till you could have included the titleist mini driver since you are such a fan of the mini driver been waiting for your thoughts on that
Came here to say just this.
Cobra is bringing a mini to market as well, but I will not make a decision on one of these until Titleist confirms if the GT280 is coming to retail.

@guyr7351 thanks for pointing that out. I had no idea that you aren’t allowed to adjust your clubs in a round😬. I learned something new today.👍🏼
@ no problems, I’m no rules anorak but have seen this commented on in the past esp ref clubs being damaged
Do you hit it like a driver or 3 wood?
Have you seen the king cobra mini driver on the conforming list?
I went and hit the Pxg two days ago and hit the Callaway a last year. The song and feel of PXG was better. PXG sounds similar to driver. Didn’t see huge gains over my 3wood but had set at 13 degrees.
Will have to get my burner bubble out of the shed and compare it against the new vision
Needing manuals now to adjust clubs
PXG is the winner because its the only one you can go and get fitted so once that's done its going to perform the best.
Enjoyed the video, but if the point was to find the most forgiving, why not put the heavier weight in the back where each head would have the higher MOI?
He doesn't need it LoL 😂😂😂
Off the deck!!!
Don’t forget the cobra mini driver coming out
That was anything but a CLEAR winner. Also, why no shots off the deck?
The Taylormade was clearly more forgiving? And just hit a 3 wood
@@JamesRobinsonGolf Ah right, because it clearly cures a two way miss.

Not a bad one to start with….. Duck hook 🤣🤣🤣
Why do you even come and watch?
Hi James you should try this instead it's like a rocket and easy to hit of the deck Callaway Rogue ST Triple Diamond Tour 3+
No titleist GT MINI ?
Is it available for the likes of James to test yet? I agree though, the GT Mini could blow them all out of the water maybe.
I think he will review it once it is actually released. I am really excited about the 280 release!!
Cobra on the way too!
If I'm going to see you at the Open Championship you're gonna have to get your dispersion down to 18 yards😮
16 seconds!!! Pxg looks sexy af!
Little guy is cute
If you can hit 2 shots in a row that stay on the course, then I might subscribe.

The titleist isn’t even out yet?
Off the deck would’ve been interesting, as well as seeing more data especially ball speed.

Like the Titleist and not out yet, you can add Cobra to the list of Mini Drivers.
Not easy to find though
Confused what is the purpose of a mini driver?

Great to testing brand against each other. You didn’t receive the Titlest

So no clear winner then! Why put them in the thumbnail as if we don't know
why on earth would you want a mini driver at 1800 backspin? defeats the purpose of the club no?
No numbers or dispersion? Seems biased towards Taylor made without any real data comparison and hitting it last of the bunch.
If you actually watched the video in its entirety, it is clear the TM was the most accurate and consistent of the three…

@@DanB- really not that difficult to tell the Taylormade was the best club for him. For him is the key here.
