It had indeed. It was because it was at the revolutional age of 3D gaming, which affected the confidence and innovative edge to the music compositions of the games as well. Also, the use of CD quality audio meant that composers had much more easier time with the music compositions, knowing that the quality was very high and the tools were up to the modern standards. This allowed more creative freedom in terms of the details and complexity of the compositions.
I think Snes had better music overall, but yeah since the soundchip was made by sony it goes to show they are experts in the audio department.

I'm 35 now I was in the sixth grade when I play this game
This is, in my opinion, the best song in the game. It's smooth, it fits the 'spy' theme, it's almost something you'd see in the intro of an espionage movie. This level shouldn't have a danger theme because damn this song is cool.
Waiting behind that one corner in the beginning, then having that one agent walk down the steps and shooting him our of the corner... So many memories, I'm glad I grew up with this game.
Sneaking in while following Phegan's trail was never easy espically when there is security guards dressed up like CIA agents.
Nah man, you just gotta memorize the patterns. I still know exactly where and when to shoot the guards after all these years.
This song and the 2 stages it played on we're sweet. It's a shame Syphon Filter isn't what it used to be.
The original trilogy deserves a remaster.

Love this one. Always get back to listening to it. The very first track that made me pay the real attention to the soundtrack. First I heard the bass, then these smooth lines... "Wow, so wonderful. Wish I could listen to this not playing the game." And then I discovered the rest of the mission soundtracks are nice too. Thank you, Chuck Doud.
These are personally my favorite levels of the game sneaking after fagan then blasting your way through those guards with a g18 while checking out the museum exhibits

Brings back a lot of great memories just listening to this music. I was 12 years old in Elementary school when this game first came out back in February of 1999.
I remember first renting this game from Blockbuster video on Easter weekend of 1999.
My brother and I had double teamed and cleaned the whole house together, and we had all our homework done and couldn’t wait to play this game and man did we have a blast.
Most of the time I watched my younger brother play this game, and even watching him play was still fun because the story of this game was so interesting and the characters were great.
I’ll always love Syphon Filter 1 and Syphon Filter 2. You definitely don’t get classic games like this anymore.
When I was young loved playing it used to stay up until 5am banging this game out doing this level and rhomer stronghold level this game will never get old never always sick love this mission game one of the best agent games
This took a lot of trial and error trying to reach Benton without being seen.
Took a while for me too. The thing that sucks was there was no checkpoint between the beginning and reaching Benton.

Was I the only one who stared at the big ass map of the full Expo Center on the wall of the lobby after crashing through the skylight, zooming in on it with the sniper scope and fantasizing about how awesome the level would be if you could explore the entire level on that huge ass map? lol

Was I the only one who would try sniper zooming in on the full map of the whole Expo Center at the reception after jumping through the skylight? I'd look at the huge layout and think "Man I wish I could explore the whole museum!"
The Expo Center is a great thing! And I love how it has changed in the second part getting darkened and abandoned place filled with "US Gov't" boxes.

Just a little more ambience and more stereophonic mix for the Syphon Filter 2 one.
I love how old school it is, cheesy stealth music really makes me love the game more. And its not that bad, its got some cool beat sounds to it
