Lovely vid. This was the 10th video I watched for a simple explanation of what a scale is. You are the only person who succeeded without losing me in complexity.
I like these videos, but the fact that they are not in a logical order in the playlist is very confusing. Thanks for this wonderful content, I guess having to dig around for what I'm interested in is a small price to pay.
Interesting question. I think it should be possible. We could pick an interval (or two) and see what notes we come up with within an octave and you might have a brand new scale!
I fricken LOVE that you didn't use C for the example!
Lmao it seems every theory tutorial on RUclips uses c
@@Nero-jw8qx Damn right! most beginners won't see the pattern. They will just see "Oh! All white keys. I got it!"
This is amazing. So clear. Instead of just memorising everything it makes more sense to understand the patterns!
These videos are helping me out a lot when it comes to understanding more about how music works.
Brilliant crash course! Loved it!
I'm new to music theory was going crazy about a piece of written music, your course helped me a lot!
Very succinct, lots of useful info packed into under 3 and a half minutes. Well done. Saved and subscribed.

Can you build a scale without using tradition half steps and whole steps? i.e. building based on intervals
Interesting question. I think it should be possible. We could pick an interval (or two) and see what notes we come up with within an octave and you might have a brand new scale!
Thanks

...WWhWWWh(WWhWW[Wh)WWhWW]Wh...
(Major)
[natural minor]
[Wh or the 3 half steps)
So that’s why... thanks 😊
Thank youuu, I believe it's less confusing if the example was a C major scale instead of b flat becoz C major scale is easy to look at on the piano
Thank you.. 👍
This is wonderful. Thanks. Do you have any info about the Modes? Just asking.
I currently don't have a video on modes, but I can add it to the list of topics for upcoming videos. Thanks for watching!
That would be cool. Thanks.
How about the Dorian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Phrygian and Locrian? 😂 (I know Ionian = natural Major and Aeolian = natural minor.)
