- Russia dropped aerial bombs on Kherson and fiercely retaliated to Ukrainian attempts to push into its territory as Kyiv marked third independence day during the war that started in 2022. The Russian defence ministry claimed that its forces have killed over 5,500 Ukrainian troops in the 18 days of incursion in Kursk. It also claims to have destroyed 71 tanks so far. Why would they leave? Kursk residents who did not flee are happily learning to sing Ukraine's national anthem. A new local government is being formed and plans are being made to have a referendum. The former place of Kursk will soon officially be named North Ukraine. Of course expectations are it has not yet reached maximum growth size and this delays the referendum.
