Beautiful car! Nicely narrated video. A few clarifications are in order: This car was not factory built with A/C, which was added afterwards. You can tell by the compressor and the dash vents which are different. Also, the chrome wheel center caps are from 1966, and the small Gran Sport emblem on the trunk is correct for the Skylark GS, not Riviera. For 1965 the Gran Sport option A9 was only factory built, so you could not get the requisite pieces "In the trunk" to be installed by the dealer. It was for 1966 that Buick offered the A9 option for dealer installation, later in the production run this reverted to become a factory-only installation. Otherwise, great video and lovely example of an early small-emblem Gran Sport.

Great job. So many people don’t know what they are talking about on these first generation Rivieras and you got just about everything right. What a fabulous car!

WOW, I have a GS -65, Bambo Creme white black vinyl top, delux upholstery (as this beaty), 4-note horn. The car has ride and handle kit, extra bottle of Wachefluid. It rides like a loonatic, 3,42 rear Axel, limitid slip. The exhaust is not 2”, it;s 2 1/4 inch on GS. Love from Sweden🍸

Good review, but I would like to point out that the Super Wildcat option was available as a FACTORY installed option in 1965. In 1966, 179 cars had it from the factory, and then it DID become a dealer option. ANY 1965 Riviera could be ordered with the Super Wildcat option, BUT it was a part of the Gran Sport option package and was included. I think 454 1965 Rivs came with the engine, but were NOT Gran Sports. Gran Sports are hard to certify, as you stated, but you can get close. The engine code was LX that year, stamped in front of the intake on the passenger side. IF numbers match, the VIN on the door pillar will match the VIN stamped on the front of the block on the driver's side. All Gran Sports have a BS code on the transmission tag, and also have a 3.42 gear Posi rearend, identified by the ratio stamped in the diff housing and an X in a circle stamped in an axle tube. Also, the wood trim was standard in all Rivieras, but the Custom interior option got you longer pieces in the doors and was on the rear panels as well, and also included the pleated seats and stailess trim around the headliner and the ribbed rocker moldings.

Thanks for the info! I found many somewhat muddy sources on whether Super Wildcat was always dealer or factory. Unfortunately this Riv is not numbers-matching so the Gran Sport trim is pretty much 'what you see is what you get'.

    Astonishing the description by Josh.
I was sure that he was a Hot Rod Only Man.
He also was "Dressed for the Occasion (Wearing Sport Coat, just like a Riviera Owner Should)" and apparently was not reading a script. Funny also that it seems that there is no lifter in he can stand straight beneath, Hahaha!
The Sad side of the video is that this particular Riviera is too noisy being a Personal Luxury Car and is needed for a Fine Tunning with Valve Balancers Job Included.

Thanks for the kind words! We think it's more fun to take a casual approach with these videos. While there is no script, I do admit to taking notes and studying a bit before shooting. Much of that is for accuracy as, for all of us, the cars tend to blur together a bit when we're juggling various tasks for a lot of inventory.
