You freaking NAILED it. Mine was running wild like yours was. The throttle arm is like yours was, backwards. I'm thinking the previous owner put the butterfly plate on the wrong side. Pulling the carb off tomorrow. THANKS
Wow.... your vid made mine easy . The throttle was doing the same, wide open. Swapped and it worked fine. Those carbs with the throttle backwards were on engines with controls on the bottom of engine below the carb. Saved my day
Yes . If can not adjust far enough with the small nuts on governor rod , then adjust the cable with the nuts on it . Make sure there is no slop in the throttle control leaver , part on dash .
In the briggs manual for 16 hp one spring is 26764 Spring-Governor------- Note ---- 260815 Spring Governor Used on Type No(s). 0611, 0630, 0647, 0651, 0690, 0760, 0781, 0801, 2256, 2520, 2527, 2528, 2529, 2550, 2581, 2582
and the other one is 260816 Spring-Governed Idle Used on Type No(s). 0611, 0630, 0647, 0651, 0690, 0760, 0781, 0801, 2256, 2520, 2527, 2528, 2529, 2550, 2581, 2582.
Them old cast iron engines with cast iron intakes will frost over while running the gets very cold even in warm weather. I know i had a 16 hp that every chance it get in winter i route the heat from engine with sheet medal it stop the problem the aluminum willnot do that .
