    8:38 if anything, ME does teach you to read really fast

      @@Paehrin ME2 hit harder because it followed ME1, when we just discovered the crew and got to like them and the ship. In ME3, we're already - I don't wanna say jaded - prepared for the worse so the element of surprise is not as present.

    Quick edit: the reason that it shows you didn't romance anyone in ME2 is because Liara is considered an "extra" since she's from a DLC and not part of the Normandy crew itself in that game, so even though you did romance her, the games don't count that as a romance.

      Some promotions are political - By promoting Ashley it's a way for some brass to redirect past credits away from Shepherd and onto the supporting team which eases the process of then throwing Shep under the bus for the Batarian massacre in Arrival. If you're an Alliance big wig that hates Shep, or said it couldn't be done, and Shep's success makes you look bad, promoting Ash and jailing Shep is a fruitful machination.
      That's my head canon anyways.

      I think a lot of people expected or wanted Andromeda to be ME4; by continuing the trilogy with Shepard and the Normandy crew, Systems Alliance, etc. in the same time period. Without spoiling, Andromeda is its own story with its own characters working for its own faction, set many years after the trilogy.
      So if you go into Andromeda with the expectations of a stand-alone story set in the ME universe (with its factions and races, plus some new ones), you're less likely to be disappointed.

    Love seeing people having a blast with the ME original trilogy (OT). Just would like to provide a few tips for a much better experience.
    *STORY*
    1) For more stories and depth like in ME2, make sure you check on your crewmates after missions. They will express their opinions, talk some more and actually interact with each other (yep, they no longer nailed down to their posts and actually wander around the ship).
    2) Some side missions actually expire, esp. with characters you're familiar with. Whenever you have a [Priority: %name%] story mission, better make sure you complete all side-tasks that are unique or related to the Priority mission prior to proceeding to the latter, otherwise you're really risking to lose extra content or worse.
    3) The game is full of small stories like one at 1:24:55 / 1:26:30. Usually, there's a couple of them per sublocation/Hub. Some even are linked to events you participate in or related to people. Some progress on each (re)visit or along with the main story. Say, you heard the couple in the Docking Bay and went to the Club/did another mission, and then returned to the DB. They will keep on going. In fact, when you heard enough, you can also decide what to do/help them by interacting with a Spectre terminal. Note, though, with what is going in the game, it's better to think twice before deciding what to do, heheh.
    4) As the story in ME3 reaches its peak, Renegade choices there are nothing but being pragmatic, so be careful with actions. Paragon choices (not interruptions, worth to mention) aren't greatest decisions, either. In general, in ME3 Paragon and Renegade have more pros and cons to them compared to ME1 and ME2.
    5) (DLC) Citadel: Shore Leave. For your better experience and more emotions, don't start this one until after you're done with Priority: Horizon (and before starting a next one). Just don't, trust me :)
    6) If you missed some weapons during a mission, Alliance Requisitions terminal in the Shuttle Bay will have them. But I wouldn't suggest buying anything else off it, as it costs an extra. Better shop right at stores.
    7) Whenever you dock to the Citadel, the Normandy gets refueled.
    8) War Assets terminal entries/reports get updated in numbers and text in accordance to the story events. Might want to read them between missions if interested.
    *COMBAT*
    1) Weapons affect powers cooldown. The lighter you are, the faster they recharge, although 100% (max is 200%) or even a bit of negative are still fine. Plus, there are light-weight mods to reduce weapons' weight.
    2) Reassigning skill points will cost more credits with each use. Also, regarding Ashley. There's a bug with her Marksman power in OT: she'll keep spamming it, sit in cover and do nothing. if it still presents in LE, better avoid it at all.
    3) Projectile-based powers can be curved to get your enemies behind their cover. When you have a lock-on, just shift the cam up/down or sideways and cast your power. Powers like Pull and Lash rip Guardians' ballistic shields off their hands. Of course, you can just install an AP mod on your weapon and go for the head right away.
    4) Power combos. It was actually a thing back in the ME2, but here's it's a fully-fledged mechanic which is fun as hell to play with. However, the game doesn't tell you much (aside Powers evolution descriptions) and a lot of people who didn't play Multiplayer (which sadly wasn't remastered with the LE and remains exclusive to a reg. version of ME3), had or have no idea about those.
    In any case, you have 4 types of such combos: Biotic, Tech, Fire and Cryo. At the end of the day, it all comes down to a simple «Prime it & Detonate it» rule. Now, while you can use Biotic powers to detonate Tech, Fire and Cryo combos, you can't, however, do the opposite. Biotic primers can only be detonated by biotic powers. Also, some primers can only work on exposed targets, i.e. a Pull effect won't work on or prime enemies with barriers/shields/armor on. But an Incinerate + detonator will work regardless of the enemy's status, minus the crowd control effect for Shielded/Armored targets.
    Types:
    Biotics (2x damage to Barriers and Armor):
    Cast some priming lingering biotic power (Warp, Singularity, Pull, Dark Channel etc.). You'll notice affected enemies shimmering in blue-ish color. And then use a detonator power (e.i. Biotic Charge, Throw, Nova, Shockwave etc.) on them for things to go AoE BOOM. And boy does it go LOUD.
    Tech bursts (Stun / 2x damage to Shields):
    Pretty much the same, although those mostly used for negating Shields (dealing 2x damage to them). A simple example would be using Disruptor Ammo: whenever you notice an enemy has been electrocuted, you can use Overload or Concussive Shot on them for an AoE effect. You most likely won't even notice those, and they aren't that popular anyway.
    Fire (Panic / 2x damage to Armor):
    The most fun one along with Biotic explosions. Use an Incendiary Ammo, toss an Inferno Grenade or just cast an Incinerate for enemies to catch on fire, and then use detonators like, Biotic Charge, Concussive Shot, Overload etc. to cause a Fire explosion. Boomshakalaka! Nothing like ignite your enemy, charge onto them causing an explosion and then perform a shotgun surgery.
    Cryo Explosion (Immobilizing / 30% Speed reduction):
    Now, the Cryo one is a bit tricky... And slow (no pun intended), as its full effect can be achieved only on exposed targets. And you actually need to wait for such enemy to get solid frozen and fall on the ground, AND only then you can detonate it. Oh well... At least it's got a sick sfx of breaking the glass.

    Minor gameplay note: because of the new weight mechanic, the more/heavier guns you carry the longer all your cool-downs get, so It's best to unequip any weapons that you'll never use.
    ME1 spoiler (colored with some general knowledge from all three games): Cerberus has been experimenting with husk technology since ME1, but the ME1 Cerberus missions are all pretty deep side-quests. Obviously, while you working for the illusive man he would dodge around any questions about that sort of thing by bringing up the whole "Cerberus teams work independently," crap to avoid accountability when he definitely pushes all his teams to take "any risk necessary to get results."

    So happy you noticed the the track in the menu screen. It really captures the tone of the entire game. A sad and desperate fight for survival against an all powerful, and emotionless enemy.
    Its that sort of melody that makes you hopeful and melancholic at the same time. One of my favorite tracks in the OST among many, many good ones. Prepare for the OST to take you for a ride in this game. The track is called We Face Our Enemy Together.

      Liara saved Shep - recovered her body, gave it to the illusive man to resurrect. That's some solid "I refuse to accept my lover is dead" energy. One could say it's the 'canon' relationship, but our bro Garus has been with Shep through thick and thin, every game, every moment. He didn't skip out on us. And Turians have a similar lifespan. With Asari we're like goldfish, they marry a human, stick it out for a few decades then move on to another mate. Sure, you get to be her first, but then she might go off and marry how many others after you? Liara is going to live another 900~ years.

    4:00 You were about to romance Garrus but you pressed the renegade response at the bottom("I wouldn't mind") instead of the paragon response at the top("Not what I meant") in the response to the full contact sparring session conversation. I don't think the viewers would have minded if you went back and chose differently but the game is designed so just picking one simple sentence over the other makes all the difference in whether or not the game is fulfilling. gotta say that's why i always loved Bioware games. They give you reason to play the campaign over and over again instead of just relying on a nonsensical multiplayer. But maybe you can romance him in this one, I have no idea. Never tried.

    Small tip in mass effect 3 you can do these things called biotic combos and tech explosions by combining powers, for example
    Primer ( the power that sets it up) Pull , Singularity or Slam
    You then follow this up with a power that sets it off called a
    detonator Shockwave, Throw or Warp
    The result is a MASSIVE explosion
    I once did an entire run without firing a single shot TWAS awesome
    For tech its
    Primer : Disruptor Ammo , Energy Drain or Overload
    Detonator : Biotic Charge, Carnage or Concussive Shot
    There are so many combos though that I forget some, You can freeze enemies and the charge into them for example
    The game does a terrible job of explaining this

    So just like there is a time skip in between ME1 and ME2 of two years, there is a time skip of about half a year between ME2 and ME3. During that time skip, Shepard has reported back to the Alliance (EARTH'S MILITARY not the Citadel Council who we hate) and basically been put into protective custody because of what happened (a Batarian colony world with 300,000 inhabitants was destroyed) in the Arrival DLC. The Normandy has also been repatriated to the Alliance and it has been undergoing retrofits towards that goal.
    Additionally, all of the crew, which was mostly Cerberus, have been either detained or detained and released by the Alliance, and the ones that were released have not been allowed (or even able) to resume any sort of duties aboard a ship that has been in drydock since returning to Earth, so they have all gone their separate ways just like the crew did between ME1 and ME2. Also just like in ME2, it's a small galaxy, so you never know when you might run into someone you know again.

    Honestly Sam Hulick, Chris Lennertz, Sascha Dikiciyan, and Cris Velasco did incredible work in ME3's soundtrack. Being able to snag Clint Mansell to do "Leaving Earth" and to help with "An End, Once and For All" was a brilliant bit of business because those truly help anchor the emotional feel of the whole game. Having Faunts come back with Das Malefitz is a chef's kiss homage to the other two games' credits sequences. As far as OSTs go, this one's probably top 3, and only firmly behind Outer Wilds.
    This game's opening was the gut punch the series needed to propel it forward and raise the stakes. Such a powerful half hour

    • @MANxMACHINE
      @MANxMACHINE 7 месяцев назад

      @@JuliaJuanaAlvarez literally nothing I was referring to had to do with sending forces anywhere - I'm talking about prioritizing individuals' people's feelings about what gets results when the situation is dire. But to your point about Thessia vs. Earth, the history of modern warfare and alliances directly contradicts that (Allied Powers, NATO, etc). Humanity can be short-sighted, but we are usually *very* effective at working together when there's a clear existential threat. You don't have to go to war college to know that fighting independently against a force so overwhelming is stupid. Just writing this makes me surprised that there's no Article 5 equivalent for Council races.
      I agree that in 1 and 2, Renegade Shep is as ass, but in the context of 3, a lot of it falls under what Garrus I think calls "the grim calculus of war" or something like that - sacrifice 10 billion here to save 20 billion there. You can view decisions like that as cold or unfeeling, but when the alternative is extinction, they become very necessary.

    • @JuliaJuanaAlvarez
      @JuliaJuanaAlvarez 7 месяцев назад

      @@MANxMACHINE Just look at the beginning of the game, Palliven was hit just as bad as Earth was, yet Shepard and Udina only cared about getting help for Earth. Yes every species needs to work together but if everyone sends their fleets to Earth, they will sacrifice their own planets to the Reapers. And besides Shepard and the Normandy did any Alliance ship came to aid Palliven or Thessia when they got hit? You talk about how good humans can work together in the Nato, but humanity is very selfish. I mean we exsist for hundrets of thousands of years and we keep fighting each other, there is no peace or unity on Earth. And when it comes to Nato, let's see how good they really work together when things get to sh*t and they are actually dragged in a full scale war where the countries of the members are actually in danger... So yeah I guarantee you if Thessia was hit first, Earth wouldn't have send a single ship to fight the Reapers there. Even in the first game the Turians lost more ships than Humanity did protecting the Citadel. But please tell me when there was a moment where Shepard or Udina or Hacket (who were always very quick calling the Council selfish) were actually thinking about sending ships to the other worlds. And sure Shepard in ME 3 has no time for bullsh*t but still is he wrong fully assults someone he/she is still an ass

    • @MANxMACHINE
      @MANxMACHINE 7 месяцев назад

      @@JuliaJuanaAlvarezBoth Shepard and others state outright that Earth was hit harder than Palaven. The turians also have a *significantly* larger military, one which wasn't caught by surprise - they specifically put Garrus in a position to prepare for it. As far as Anderson and Hackett, neither of them asked for entire fleets to relocate - "ships, supplies, munitions" or something was how Hackett put it. Even so, Hackett talks about conducting hit and run operations in other systems, so saying they wouldn't send a ship doesn't make sense. They just can't send a lot because there's not a lot to send - most Alliance fleets were destroyed in the surprise attack (also explicitly said in game).
      Also, Hacket and Anderson aren't idiots; they'd send help if another planet was hit first because it's the only smart decision strategically. If the resistance on Earth gets steamrolled, that's one fewer theater of war. All the Reaper forces that were busy there would then be free to make things even worse in other systems. Think of how differently WWII could have ended if there wasn't the Eastern Front. The turians run a highly militaristic society and realize this, which is why their councilor offers a plan for help. The salarians and asari avoid conventional warfare in favor of backchannel diplomacy, espionage, and special ops, so they make a bad call.
      The NATO thing was just an example, but we've already seen what happens when these countries are in real danger and have to work together - it's called World War 2.

    • @JuliaJuanaAlvarez
      @JuliaJuanaAlvarez 7 месяцев назад

      @@MANxMACHINE Lots of good talk and theory, but the fact is the Normandy was the only ship that did anything. Earth didn't send any support to Palliven, nor Thessia when it got hit. Earth maybe got hit first but how should the Turians helped. Everything they send to Earth would be missing in their own fight and looking how the Reapers just rushed through them, there is nothing they had to spare. Every ship, soldier or ressource the Asari and Salarians would have send, would have been missing in their own fights. The Reapers can't be defeated conventionally. And yes Shepard specificly asked for the Council fleets in the beginning and called them selfish for not sending anything. Look at our own world and how violant and devided it is. We can't live peacefull among ourselfs and you expect we would be any different towards other species. Just look how we treat the "lesser species" here on Earth. Besides you really think the US would have sent troops to Europe if they themselfs were on the edge of beeing invaded by a superior force? The council acted like any Human would have done. The game is build on Human hypocracy

    I am enjoying your ME playthrough; you pick so many conversations choices I've never made, and now don't have too. Answering your question about romancing Ashley. When originally created in ME 1 Broshep and Femshep were able to romance either Vilmire survivor (Bro/Kaiden and Fem/Ashley) were possible. Bioware panicked and blocked them prior to release, but after ME 2 work had started and all the necessary files were released with the game. There is a mod that unlocks those relationships in ME 1, both romances are fully animated and voiced using the Bioware created files. In ME 2 the Vilmire survivor has only a small role, but using the Mod does unlock some different dialog options during the Horizon encounter and an email sent to Shepherd by the survivor, expressing regret on how the conversation went down. I don't know if you are playing the legendary edition or the original, as the graphics look really rough compared to the LE edition on my computer. In any case, the original does have a Mod that continues the romance, the LE edition's Mod has not yet been completed; though Ashley will react to Femshep's new relationship (if she romanced someone in ME 2) positively or negatively depending on the new partner.
    One last thing, I don't know if you will ever revisit Mass Effect or not; I have and I now play it heavily modded and it's a new game and brought to life in a way I think Bioware would wanted given more time and money. If you aren't going to do that, then I highly suggest you go on RUclips and find a video on the Dreams Remade, the mod completely redid the animations making them far more emotionally engaging than the ones in the base game. If you do plan on going back I would suggest you solicit inputs from your paetrons and possibly your subscribers. I know I would be motived to join if you did.

    1. Always have a box of tissues right next to the computer. Even in the comedy, the laughter will cause tears.
    2. I recommend saving new files both before and after any Priority Mission. The after is more for a few options you could feel free to explore without consequence because you can restart.
    3. The DLCs are designed for late game, but the only one that it really is best to wait storywise on is the Apartment.
    4. There are certain points in which you may feel you need to take a break. Those of us who have played the game before, understand, and will not hold it against you if you take any of those breaks.

    12:48 You know that's not the case - she made it very clear in ME2 why Shepard lost her trust: Because of Cerberus. You're in the military. How would you react if a comrade is missing for two years and then you'll suddenly encounter him among the ranks of let's say ISIS?
    1:33:41 The game's storytelling is so flawed here - Shepard is insisting that everyone has to come to Earth and fight there after the Turian councilor just told her that Palaven - the Turian homeworld - was invaded as well. But Shepard simply ignores this completely. The Asari territory is also under attack - if you listen to the news on the Citadel you'd learn that Illium has already fallen as well.
