    I've been here almost 30 years, from USA......and I completely agree with every single thing you mentioned in this video. People ask me all the time "why did you move to The Netherlands?"...and it's never really a simple one reason answer. There are SO many reasons, and you just mentioned some important ones. I'm glad you and your family have been able to relocate to a civilised country. I, for one, could never live in the USA ever again.

    Nice to hear from somebody ho is from the USA that the Netherlands isn't a bad place to stay.
    Because I allmost packed my bags and was going to Canada. For me as a truckdriver that sounded fantastic.
    But because I'm having some small problems caused by a car crash back in 1999,people from Canada where telling me that
    the Dutch and European roads are so mutch better to drive then the Canadian and USA roads.
    So I stayed in Holland,but I left in 2010 for 9 months to live with my girlfriend in Surinam,South America.
    But I wasn't feeling to great there,so 3 weeks after we got married I left for Holland again.
    7 months later my wife and her son came to Holland too and whe got a girl in 2013.
    I don't think that I will ever leave Holland,maybe for holiday but then direct back to my hometown.

      Reasonable!? Lowest debt levels in Europe. Safest country in the world. One of the highest gdp per capita. Vacation money every year (nowhere else in the world). Unrestricted travel without being questioned at every border(try to have a African paspoort). First to legalize weed, prostitution and gay marriage. First to have social rights too. The declaration of independence is even based on the Dutch plakkaat van verlatinghe. We're lucky to be born here! No country is perfect, but the Netherlands for sure comes close.

    I was lucky enough to live in Netherlands for 3 years. Definitely love everything about Netherlands, even biking in the rain. I now live in America with my family, we have 3 little kids and I dream about raising my kids in Netherlands. They would be so much happier there. I would move there in heartbeat. Just don’t know what kind of work we would do there if we move there. Definitely will visit there soon with my family.

    Your remark about nature made me smile. I lived in the NL until I was 33 years old, then emigrated. I now live in Munich, Germany. A rather green city, but the nature just outside of it is something else, if one is used to what the NL have to offer. Not to mention that the Alps are visible from here and a short train ride away.
    It's always a matter of perspective, I guess :)

      It's understandable. North America is basically turned into a huge car park connected by 6 lane stroads lined with strip malls and box stores. It really is quite depressing.
      I never saw the appeal to live in a place where driving is a necessity just because everything is so far away due to extreme zoning rules. Real freedom is when people can choose from several efficient ways to get from A to B. Children should be able to do things without their parents. This requires mature infrastructure which America lacks in most places.
      Always having to drive is a form of poverty really.

    In the Netherlands, if your car is damaged through driving through a pothole, the municipality is liable for the repair of your car. They are responsible for keeping the roads in repair, if they don't do their job, they get to pay for the consequences. Same if you for example trip over a loose tile when walking the municipal walkways.
    That is not the case in the USA?

    • @satyavan9631
      @satyavan9631 2 года назад

      We paid unbelievable lots of money as taxes and to be able to drive and BPM (extra taxes when buying new car) to our government so repairing the roads is just a small part of the expenditure. That is at least they are doing a lot more of the money going elsewhere to maintain the country infrastructure.

    • @TheEvertw
      @TheEvertw 2 года назад

      @@satyavan9631 Taxes in the Netherlands are actually not that high. We get a lot of things for free that cost serious money in other countries. Only the extremely rich pay more in NL than for example in the US. All other people-groups pay less than in the US.

    About nature. You really need to go out now to places like de Bollenstreek (it's closest to where ya live now) and look outside. You will see SO much colours, because all tullips are almost grown fully. If you do want some piece and quiet you need to drive to the island of Goerree Overflakkee or Flevoland, then you have basically whole fields just for yourself to enjoy.

      It is madness here in the US decades of gun maker propaganda mean far too many people believe it. Guns create high risk of injury and death it is the illusion of safety by being armed. Sadly it is deeply rooted in US history of racism. But now we are not supposed to teach about our real history. Things are going badly wrong here politically and socially in the USA very quickly. I wish we could move to NL or Europe - reverse what my grandparents and ggps did 😥.

      Hi Nina, truthfully speaking we were unaware that life in The Netherlands would be like it is. Partly because we had never been to Europe and also due to the fact that it is engrained in our heads (through school, etc) that there is no country greater than the US. So a lot of what we have experienced and continue to experience is a surprise to us.
