They have different deals Pat McAfee is getting paid 30 million dollar a year for the production of his show. Meaning he has to pay everyone in on the show the camera people...etc.. He has to divide the 30 million amongst a lot of people, ( he makes the show ESPN just plays it on their channel) Steven A Smith is just and employee at Espn.( Espn produces the whole show Steven A is just the star) So when it comes down to it Steven A Smith makes more money if not way more money then Pat completely different deals.

@PBD- This is a horrible take. I love PBD, but you guys don't have the correct information in this video. You are trying to compare Stephen a Smith to Pat McAfee and the Pat McAfee show. McAfee has an established program that ESPN paid him for, so they can air his shows on ESPN. Stephen a Smith is not at the top of his game anymore because he has gone woke, and everyone has finally caught up to how he paints these false narratives about athletes and sports. People are sick of Stephen A Smith, and ESPN on TV is dying right in front of our eyes, so they are using Stephen a Smith as the black face for the investors at Disney and whatever other powerful company. Probably Pfizer.

I want to make this crystal clear! I AM NOT and NEVER have been a fan of Stephen A Smith. I can’t put my finger on exactly what it is about him that bothers me so much but I can’t sit here and not tell the truth about this situation in my own opinion! He and his agents were asking for 25 million a year and ESPN came in with 18 which is a slap in the face to him! You got guys like Joe Buck and Troy Aikman who only do football broadcasting one game per week making 15 and 18 million per year. Then you got Stephen A who litterally wears like 5 different hats “jobs” at espn! He has first take one of espns most watched show after Pat McAfee, not to mention smith covers all sports, NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, boxing, UFC, MLS, and not to mention he started off as a journalist coving the NBA and worked his way up to becoming the biggest name in the biggest company in all of sports in that era. Yes these days are different bc of podcasts ect but 15-20 years ago he was doing all this. He got fucked over because he got caught in the middle of signing his old deal and a few years later guys who were well below him when it comes to name recognition and pure talent started getting bigger contracts then him. He has been patiently waiting and has been 100% honest about his plans when his new contract is up that he is “coming for his bag” he congratulated Pat McAfee when he signed his huge deal and said I have nothing but respect for the man bc all he has done is raise my value by getting that bag” i will make a prediction right now, if ESPN doesn’t at min meet him in the middle at let’s say 22.5 million a year ish I believe he will go above there heads to who??? The owners of ESPN which is?? Disney and say hey guys is there some sort of racism going on here at ESPN because I have worked from the ground up put everything into this company for my entire life just to be undervalued when I work 5 separate jobs at espn and by far the hardest worker here but am only being offered the same amount as Joe Buck 15 m and Troy Aikman 18m per year who only have to commentate one game per week meanwhile I am on first take 5 days a week, cover the NBA all season, cover the NFL all season, deal with baseball stuff, not to mention any time there is controversy, I am expected to be the one who put my opinion out about the situation every time risking being canceled or criticized for my opinion? Disney will not risk a lawsuit for being racist because this time it actually looks like that may be the case when it comes to Steven a Smith. I predict he ends up getting 22 million a year minimum if not by Espn by some other company but that is unlikely to have to happen bc espn will pay him!

They are giving McAfee a portion of their channel in addition to the money. If Pat leaves he pulls those followers with him and trades money for independence with the chance to grow that money back. Guys it’s apples and oranges. McAfee owns his own show and licenses a portion of it to ESPN for which he gets paid. Steven a Smith’s RUclips channel is an afterthought. You can’t make the point you’re trying to make using the data that you’re trying to use to make it.

Couple things. McAfee is on a licensing deal if I'm not mistaken, so the $85 million goes to Pat's company and then he pays his people and covers expenses and runs his whole business with that money. Stephen A is getting salary, so ESPN pays him and pays for the production. Pretty different.

Pat MaCafee also pays the people on his show out of the money he gets paid. So what MaCafee gets is a portion of that yearly salary.

Pat cuz he’s younger and doesn’t have to raise his voice and choose a side in order to debate. Pat just speaks what he feels and what his real opinion actually is. Authenticity is the way; not the way of Steven A

A piece of advice to the PBD podcast, keep this type of topic to a minimum, i was watching it live and many people including me were like "hello!!! Let's move on to the next topic" who cares what some guy makes for talking BS on ESPN, specially when most people are struggling to make ends meet paying up for rent, credit cards, gas and groceries. This was going on for too fkn long and most people were upset with the Stephen Nicks or whatever makes 9 million dollar a day crap.
