My mom was a professional decorator at a local bakery for six years before I was born and has taught me a lot. Your icing was too thick to do the Rosetts. You can always use powdered sugar to make it thicker or (preferred) use an easy recipe for homemade butter cream. We usually do one cup of crisco and one cup of softened butter to a 2lbs bag of powdered sugar with one teaspoon of vanilla and milk one TBs at a time to thin it out it usually takes four or five more if it’s dry out less if it’s humid. Also remember to always twist your pastry bag. You should have the bulk of the icing and bag twisted to the shape of a tear drop with the round bulb part in your dominant hand. You will squeeze from there and guide with your non dominate. Everything turned out so beautiful at Ellas party 💕

For cakes, a suggestion, chill in the fridge between the different layers of icing. also chill icing in the piping bag so that your hands warm it up slower. Looks great though, awesome improvising!

hi! so im a specialty cake decorator, 3 tips! first the icing scraper you are using should be held the opposite way, but also it looks very thick, try finding a thinner plastic icing scraper. second tip, when squeezing an icing bag, try not to squeeze from the top, hold it with enough icing that fits in the palm of your hand and twist off the bag. basically trying to squeeze just a palm sized amount vs trying to squeeze a full bag of icing is a huge difference! lastly, the rosette detailing you were trying to do is normally done with at least a 1M decorating tip, it wont fit on a coupler. just put it right into the decorating bag. the correct size tip plus squeezing less volume of icing at a time with give you the perfect rosette!!!

Girl everything came out so beautiful. Stacking and decorating cakes is a whole process. One has to be super calmed and relaxed so that everything comes together. I think you did a great job! I would tell you it will be easier on yourself if after stacking the cakes you use a thick straw o a wooden dowel in the middle of the cakes so that all layers can stay put. And then adding a thin layer of frosting or crumb coat to then chill the cake in the freezer for 10 minutes. It really makes your life easier when decorating cakes. I still think the cake came out beautiful and so did the rest of the party 🎈

This is my first video of yours that I'm watching and I just wanted to say that you are amazing, I don't have kids and I prepared my first birthday party this year and it was so stressful. If it's any consolation; I took a decorating class and my hands get hot when doing the piping. I was always having to take a break and put the icing in the freezer for a few minutes. This does help some.
So watching this I had to go bake a cake no special reason. BTW my daughter is 33 and I still have memories items from her party. She loves Pee Wee Herman still. Now has met him a couple of times. Great decor and great ideas 🍰🍰

Cakes are challenging to decorate. I've found that placing your cake stand on a lazy susan helps a lot! It allows for a more fluid motion while dispersing the icing with your icing tool. It still looked great!
Beautiful job! I love how you chose what to do,handmade, and what to purchase. You seem to enjoy this so much more than when you stressed yourself doing every little thing yourself! Your children know how special and loved they are!
I've done similar parties and I can say that it does all add up. I suggest buying little by little leading up to the party. She already had some of the items that she mentioned so, that is something we can do to. Save items from previous parties to reuse. It was an awesome party theme !
Yes I second this! Buy as much as you can in advance especially if it’s on sale. This way you won’t be so overwhelmed doing everything at once and paying for things at full price bc your in a time crunch and have no other choice. ❤️
Hey the cake is beautiful👏 I used to be a bakery manager and if you hold the icing tube keeping it full working from the back end you will be able to control your work a lot easier. Don’t squeeze from the middle of the bag and you will be able to do the flowers. Don’t be hard on yourself it is a lot harder than it looks to decorate a cake bravo great job!! I hope this helps 😊

Cakes are challenging to decorate. I've found that placing your cake stand on a lazy susan helps a lot! It allows for a more fluid motion while dispersing the icing with your icing tool. It still looked great!
Beautiful job! I love how you chose what to do,handmade, and what to purchase. You seem to enjoy this so much more than when you stressed yourself doing every little thing yourself! Your children know how special and loved they are!

I've done similar parties and I can say that it does all add up. I suggest buying little by little leading up to the party. She already had some of the items that she mentioned so, that is something we can do to. Save items from previous parties to reuse.

Yes I second this! Buy as much as you can in advance especially if it’s on sale. This way you won’t be so overwhelmed doing everything at once and paying for things at full price bc your in a time crunch and have no other choice. ❤️
Hey the cake is beautiful👏 I used to be a bakery manager and if you hold the icing tube keeping it full working from the back end you will be able to control your work a lot easier. Don’t squeeze from the middle of the bag and you will be able to do the flowers. Don’t be hard on yourself it is a lot harder than it looks to decorate a cake bravo great job!! I hope this helps 😊

انا عربية من سوريا. لاوالله الوضع معي كان غير عندكم.. انا اتجوزت وعمري ١۵ سنة وكان نصيبي على المانية. بالمانية ماكان الي حدا من اهلي يعني لوحدي بس كانوا اهل جوزي مقيمين بالمانية الله عطاني ٣ اولاد والحمدلله ولدت الولدين وانا تحت عمر العشرين سنة كنت اشتغل كل شي لحالي وانا بالشهر التاسع كنت اطلع واعلق البرادي لحالي ووقت كانوا يجوا اهل جوزي لعندي ماكان حدا فيهم يساعدني بشي ياكلوا ويشربوا ويمشوا بل بالعكس انا يلي كنت اقوم اخدم عليهم.. وحتى كنت اكون الي ولدانة يومين اقوم اشتغل كل شغل البيت لحالي من تنضيف لطبخ لغيسل والخ.. هلاء صار عمري ٣۵ سنة كل شي بجسمي بيوجعني وهي طبعا اغلاط عدم الراحة اثناء الحمل.. والله المستعان والحمدلله على كل شي.
