Charles is the real airhead. He allowed that mess and distance to go on for years. He couldn't even remember which flower his own daughter was allergic to and which was her actual favorite
I love this show-Sad how this dynamic happens often in real life. The father or mother treats the child with the person they love better than the other children.
You must be new to the show because Phyllis is the reason for the poor relationship between Charles and Mona. Phyllis was a bitter hag and kept Mona from many of the events her father had that she was clearly invited to.
@@makiziwe not true. Although Phyllis was very angry with Charles, she stopped bringing Mona around when DD got a horse and Mona had to watch. They tried to keep it a secret from Mona, but because she stayed longer than they planned at the house. The horse arrived while she was there. It was the last straw for Phyllis because she saw how Mona was continuously getting hurt every time she was at the house. Episode after episode you see Mona telling little DD all the ways in which she was emotionally harmed while growing up whenever she visited them because she was being treated differently. Also, whether Phyllis was angry, or not, that had nothing to do with the father’s behavior because if he was doing right by Mona, it wouldn’t matter how Phyllis felt. He even finally apologized in one of the later episodes.
I related so much to this growing up being the oldest an the only child by a different mother. My dad married and I have 3 siblings with a different mother that are younger.
Idk why they treated Mona like an outcast . She was Charles’ first born and deserved SO much better .
*sighs in oldest sibling*
