Z8 is gr8 deal from Nikon . Sony A1 and Nikon Z9 are real competition for Z8 and look at the price point of Z8 . Canon R5 dropped 500$ due to Z8. Sony A1 is discounted now too. It gives all the features of true flagship camera and at lowest price point without compromising any features. Not only Nikon will sell Z8 in big numbers but also the sell of Z lenses will shoot up
Great review. Be prepared for a long..long..waiting period! I wouldn't be surprised if Nikon achieves record sales for this Z8. Think those purchasing this beauty also needs to get additional EN-CL 15C battery coz the video part may suck up more power. No issues with Z9 coz it uses the EN-CL18C
Hi Bobby, love watching your videos but...I really hate doing this ...the EVF is the same as Z9 in terms of brightness, not better than Z9..the Z9 EVF has max brightness of 3000 nits, which is over 10k lumens converted....maybe you meant 3000 nits?
Have I just been watching a first review of a brand new camera which is aimed at people who actually know what is what and what to do with RAW files, and then sat fascinated by about 10mins of talking about skin softening! Holy Moly! What on earth has a feature like skin softening got to do with the brilliance of this camera? Pretty much not one photographer worth their salt shoots professional digital files in anything but RAW... or at least they seriously should not be doing so. Don't get me wrong, the need to do this in fast moving Press work or sports or even event photography might need this, i.e. where deadlines need to be met, but even here shooting should be done in RAW+JPEG. What in this mortal coil have features like this got to do with purchasing decisions for cameras like this! Sure made me giggle! Nice first review though.
Haha the Z8 has some of these options for just what you mentioned. People or occupations that don’t have the luxury of time or know how to do certain things. Our phones have many of these things. The pros will turn it off the average person may not. Thanks for watching though!
@@GeekCulture The average person will NOT be buying this camera - your review about the skin softening is basically rubbish! The rest of your vid is interesting though so well done on this. The other thing to note here is that EVERY part of your review concerning 'that look' is irrelevant as anyone who knows anything (and in the 'occupation' will be shooting RAW. 'Occupations' have time to deal with RAW file (or at least they should or they should not be in the occupation!) - but at least you are correct in saying that 'people' do not.
Great review with some examples of the camera in use for both photo and video use. It’s interesting how they don’t have pricing for Asia yet. Curious to see if they will keep it similar to US or price it higher.
Easier to use in some cases. All touch enabled. Nikon Menu system is quite packed with features so best to take some time to set up the camera the way you like
11:30 - I noticed a few times that it took a couple of seconds to focus when panning from another location. I wonder if the 'focus acquire' time can be increased in the camera (assume it can) or is this just an in-built thing?
It can be adjusted. Our camera team had very little time with the camera system to set up properly. In some markets media could have more time with the camera. For us it was a few hours.
I've asked this so many times. What the hell is so hard about changing a battery. Remember file, I do, 35 shots and you took a minute to change the film.
Actually, the EVFs in both the Z8 and Z9 are the exact same, peaking at 3000 nits. Converting that to lumens, we're looking at both EVFs peaking at 10,278 lumens.
Only thing I want to know what this does with the D850 price. The Z8 is not really a D850 replacement but still. The D850 will be the one the last dslr's, no D880 or something. And to be frank there is nothing they can really improve. Even the Z8 has the same resolution. It's time to slayer the D850 price.
Actually I feel the Z8 is the D850 replacement. Faster in every sense, improved processors, better video, Z mount to take advantage of better optics and smaller
Not me. It's silly. Just buy the Z9 and have the grip you're going to need already there. :P It would be nice if they made a camera that's higher-end that's strictly for low-motion photography (Portraits and Weddigs and the like) and almost ignore the video.
You made me go check the specs for S5ii. And no, not even close. Panasonic only does 4k60p not even 120. Also the S5ii requires a fan, which is a no no to me. It means it is not weather seal and also, the fan will eventually break and the camera over heats. So nice try lol.
The video looks a little washout. Autofocus tracking is still not the most reliable. No flip screen or preferably A7RV screen and no recording via USB-C/External SSD.

Can't go wrong with any brand's cameras these days. The z8 looks nice.
Indeed

Can't wait to hold it on.
It’s really good to use
Magnificent review! This camera is essentially a stacked sensor flagship (Sony A1) but at the price of an A7RV-like prosumer.
Thanks! Yes you are right :)
Nice video as always!
Appreciate it

Thanks Wayne! Yes pricing not known yet.
Is it possible to program any button reachable by the right thumb as "MODE"? I prefer to change modes single handed.
nice review, thanks
Thanks
Interested in this camera. Never used Nikon, how is the menu system compared to Sony.

No issue with it from our perspective

I see that "hot card" sign which is a bit concerning, again it's at 4K 120fps tho, so maybe it'll be fine at 60fps.
Yes and we didn’t set the temp on high. Also it’s very hot in SG. Prob around 40 celcius at the time of this video
The autofocus on this video is pretty bad. Any specific reason?
Video settings. Looks like it was set to slower transition focus. Comment above by the channel explains it.

That could be the Z7 III, a camera more suited for those who want ultimate image quality and don’t need all of the speed. We will see.
It’s hard to ignore video now. The video features is one major factor why the Z8 is so attractive right now. It has pretty much everything
Parasonic s5 ii x better hehe
[Nick Dual]
Hahaha nope. Sorry. Good camera but doesn’t compare
It’s not even close my guy.

Pre-production camera as mentioned in the video. Light was very harsh so we were trying with the ND we had.
