  • Here is what our furnace looks opened. We first start a fire using small pieces of wood, and then drip in oil into the incoming air. The oil allows the furnace to sustain a constant temperature while only burning wood will make the temperature drop as the available surface to burn decreases. In this video, you can actually see the green flame produced when melting copper. Other colors of flame were given off (purple, blue) but are harder to see in the video.

    I like the way your oven has a deep rim around the outside.
    I'd like to see more detail of the the crucible and the air supply.
    Of all the videos I've watched, this looks like the best design for me.
