A Mustang Story Episode 2 Evolution of The Mustang Summit

From a one-time educational event in 2022 to a dozen planned Summits incorporating yearling adoptions across the country in 2025, The Mustang Summit is a comprehensive program for Mustang promotion, adoption and education. This episode features scenes from several key events during the 2.5 years of hard work and dedication from a team of professionals and experts under the leadership of Founder Lisa Diersen. Coming full circle, the episode begins and ends with a group of 6 yearlings ready for adoption, transported to a Summit in Albuquerque by Sky Epperson of the Mustang Adoption Academy in November 2024. We dive into scenes of just a few of the stops in between, including the Inaugural Summit in Sacramento CA, the first adoption event in Westcliffe CO, the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo and the Summit in Aiken SC.
The Mustang Discovery Ride ended on a California beach in November of 2022 with Lisanne Fear and her team of Mustangs. A number of people joined her for that moment, including her foundation Executive Director Lisa Diersen, fellow rider Claudia Owens, Documentary filmmaker Julianne Neal, and a host of Mustang riders and trainers. This group of Mustang lovers gathered in Sacramento the following week for the EQUUS Film & Arts Fest, celebrating horses in film. Lisa made the decision to take advantage of the situation, providing the space for these trainers and professionals to showcase their work and share the power of Mustangs and other equines, thereby creating the first Mustang Summit. This first summit featured demos on packing, safe handling, polo, body work and more, with collaborations between trainers and their programs. Since that day, the Summit has evolved into a showcase of demonstrations, training sessions, panel discussions and education, alongside an adoption event for up to six lucky Mustang yearlings. Six trainers spend an hour each day with their assigned baby in preparation for life in a new forever home. To date, more than 20 top Mustang trainers have helped place over 40 Mustangs. The number increases exponentially with each event. It’s a win-win for Mustangs and their people.
