This movie is a real classic, speaking as someone born in the late 90s. the impact this movie left on me growing up is indescribable. As for the more modern expansion involving the TV show and new movie I surprisingly don’t hate it. On a basic level I’m happy that DreamWorks extended the storyline so that way it is official canon that Spirit and Rain really did have at least 1 offspring. Now I’m not a big fan of the narrative they decided to take his Son’s show and movie. But I don’t hate because it’s confirmed that the new spirit is *not* supposed to be the same original spirit, totally different horse. But I must say the original themes of the original movie is only loosely present in the show and new movie. And the original vibe is nearly nonexistent in either the show or or new movie. So I think that’s something they really need to work on. But considering “Puss in boots the last wish” exist I have faith that dreamWorks can tell newer stories for older franchises that still match the vibe, tone, and themes of the original movies that they are based on.
