Even though they lost the series this is still a testament to Magic's greatness. With no one else stepping up offensively, Magic puts the team on his back and single handedly carries the offense. If you need 40 out of him, he could do that and still play team ball. Truly a great player

Magic averaged nearly 20 a game. He could easily have averaged 25 a game if he wanted to. He chose to be the leader of showtime instead. He only cared about winning. Not personal stats.

Doubt it, he has the offensive skillset of a confident Ben Simmons

@@XChronicHashyou’re dumb… magic could get to the paint anytime he wanted and had excellent touch around the basket. Also, developed a nice little set push shot that worked. If he was open he usually made it. He already average about 20 a game and ben Simmons can’t shoot a lick. I’ve never seen him hit it past 8 feet. Magic actually became decent from three and long twos.

why dont players now practice hook shot, its damn near unstopable if you are tall enoguh and master it, lebron could be way more dominant if he actually tried to improve his hook shot and use it more

    • @lani1asa2

Pre-weightlifting Jordan was better. Magic was amazing due to his size, skill, basketball I.Q., and winning attitude. But, Jordan's athleticism prior to lifting the weights was just an unfair advantage over basically everyone in the league You could stop Magic, but you couldn't stop super athletic Jordan. Jordan also had the great ball handling skills, defense, competitive drive, etcetera. The way I see it is Magic and Jordan are a wash when it comes to offensive skill and basketball I.Q. While Jordan was a better shooter, Magic was a better passer and could probably drive a little better just due to his size. But, Jordan's great athleticism is a little more of an advantage than Magic's size. The athleticism is what made Jordan such a great defender. In fact, if LeBron is better than Magic it is only because LeBron is more athletic. The other thing about Jordan is that he is meaner than Magic, which comes in handy in competitive sports.

@@scottdavidson7543 I'm 43 years old. I grew up in L.A., Compton and Inglewood to be exact. So, I was the hugest Laker fan as a kid. I have great childhood memories of watching Laker road games (which came on regular television) and seeing the Lakers come back from 15 or 20 points down to win a game in the last minute, or even second. My large family and I would erupt as Magic would hit yet another miracle shot. I remember the days, back in the mid to late 1980s, when Magic was considered by many to be the greatest player of all time. As great as Jordan was, he really couldn't be considered the greatest of all time because he had not won a championship. With all that being said, although Magic was an absolute basketball prodigy, there was just nothing anyone could do with Jordan when he was in his prime. Magic won on three different levels (high school, college, and pros) in a four year period. Magic went to the NBA finals in 9 of the 12 full seasons he played in the NBA. I would venture to say that Magic was a better driver than Jordan once Jordan got bigger and became a mid-range jump shot shooter. Magic was able to use his great ball handling skills, high basketball I.Q., and large size, to bogard his way to the hoop like LeBron. However, despite all of that, Jordan was still the greatest. I remember not wanting to watch the 1991 Finals because I just knew that there was no way the Lakers would be able to beat the two super athletic stallions the Bulls had in Pippen and Jordan. One more thing- Up until 1991, and probably until 1993, Jordan had the ability to jump in the air on a jump shot, then hang in the air until the defendant descended to the floor, after which Jordan would release the shot. I remember my brother and I thinking it was unfair that he could do that because it pretty much made the man unguardable, and therefore, unbeatable. It was like, no matter how well the Lakers were playing Jordan could pretty much get off a basically uncontested jump shot at any time, thereby neutralizing any run the Lakers might try to go on. Think about it... The Lakers have just worked like crazy to get a good front court shot from Divac, Perkins, Worthy, or Campbell. The Lakers had to get past the suffocating defense of Pippen and Jordan, but, through their great professionalism and Magic's Magic, they were able to get a nice lay-up or five feet shot from one of their bigs. Then, on the next possession, the Bulls don't have to play great ball, but they can just give the ball to Jordan and he can jump up, wait til Scott descends to the ground, then get off a good, clear, shot at the basket. Such scenarios had to be totally demoralizing to the Lakers as they were to me and my brother back in 1991. In this way Jordan was like Kareem in that they both had pretty much unstoppable shots. But, Jordan was a much more diverse player than Kareem. So, while I agree with you that Magic was phenomenal (probably top 5 in history), I think a prime Jordan is better than anyone in NBA history.

@@lani1asa2 your response brought back a lot of memories for me too. All I can say is if I have the first pick in an all time draft I'm taking Magic 😁. The rest of my team will LOVE playing with Magic. Can say the same for Jordans teammates? Olympic scrimmages were a totally different mindset so I don't think that's as compatible to my scenario as it seems

@@lani1asa2 Not only was Magic a better driver than jordan, but a much better playmaker,In fact to this day I have not seeing anyone run with the ball the length of the court with such control of it in making the right play, wether throwing a dime of a pass or taking it coast to coast for a layup or dunk as the Magic Man.And in his first 5 or 6 years he was a blur on the RUN, super quick.Nobody can match the Lakers of the early 80s when it comes to speed,Magic,Norm Nixon,Coop and Worthy were just greyhounds. In 1991 ,James and Byron were injured, they played but were just bodies going through the motions, so you lost about 20 pts contribution from each your shooter and your postman ,thats tough to overcome.Just check game 3,4 and 5 and focus on James and Byron way of playing and u should be convinced.Magic did not look like his oldself,he looked tired and slow without a true backup point guard.Maybe bad knees or semi hamstring, but maybe time have finally caught up to Magic,9 trips to the Finals in really 11 years(1981 32 had knee injury) playing that style of run and gun basketball since 1979 sure took its toll.It was the Bulls turn, with younger blood in Pippen and Horace grant to start their 90s
Run.As great as Michael was, give me 32 all day everyday to start a team. And a prime Lakers Team of the 80s over the Bulls,Celtics,Sixers,Pistons etcc.It is Showtime🏀

You can also say Kareem won 5 titles with Magic. Magic was the best Laker player in the mid-late 80's. Kareem was a shell of himself by this time, his last 8 years he had no rebounding titles, no defensive player of the year awards or regular season MVP awards. He only had one move...the sky hook. Offensively and defensively Kareem was getting dominated by other centers like Ewing, Hakeem etc. He had one good series in the 1985 Finals but other than that it was Magic who carried the team. No Magic no 5 titles for Kareem.
