Thank you for your service, Airman. I’m a former Airman myself. I came here because my 2014 is acting weird. Replaced brakes and all, but now it’s sounding like something underneath is about to come loose..
@@Damontejackson9160 I forgot I even commented on this. Yeah, my 2014 tranny failed. Just got rid of it as a whole, I have a E46 now. Best wishes bro lol
They need to recall these getrag transmissions too Not to mention the damn rack falls apart at 90k The strut mounts have their own problems too Great trucks! Love my stang but she’s had quality control issues
I did fix the problem. The 2013 mustangs all have electric power steering so there is always a possibility of water intrusion especially when they're so low to the ground. I ended up having to replace the whole rack and pinion because of said problem which will run you 900 to a 1000 including the core. You could take off the electric power steering box, but in most cases with water intrusion the damage could go far beyond whats replaceable. All i have to say is good luck with fixing the problem yourselves because i had a hell of a time myself.
April 1st, 2019 I am a 2013 Mustang V6 owner and I started hearing this noise on my car after replacing my front struts about a week ago. I’m not sure what caused it but it’s definitely annoying. Rack and pinion replacement. About $1,000+
omg you went though most of they video before you showed the sound, then you only showed from inside when you say you hear it better from somewhere else. Now since this is years later what was the fix..........................
Me too! I replaced my front struts and all of a sudden my steering wheel started making the noise. I took my car to 3 different mechanics here in So Cal and they all told me the same thing. Rack and pinion problem:/ Kind of expensive to repair with labor but I’m definitely not trying to do it myself
Ramiro Martinez nah man. I paid someone to do it. The part was like $1,100 but it sure does feel nice not hearing it anymore. It was getting worse the more I waited
Have 2012 gt with the same noise coming from the left side. No lights or indication of sensor failure. Any problems in a 2012? Just started hearing this noise last week. Any recalls out on this?
i have a 2012 and there’s a grinding coming from near the steering column. it started on the right side and now it’s when i take left and right turns. i also feel a vibration in the steering wheel and gas pedal
I think you should spend even more time talking and less time showing the noise. Not sure if you fixed this issue yet,but one way to to tell if it's coming from the rack is as follows. With vehicle running turn wheel back and forth listening to noise. Shut vehicle off while continuing turning wheel. does noise dissipate? If so, it's in rack. could be a number of things though. Seized ball joint or tie rod end. Bad lower steering shaft. Strut mounts. Even dry steering column boot can sound loud. Though you did say it sounded like it was in center of rack.
Did you ever got to know where the problem was coming from? Like from which part of the steering rack? Please let me know! I have a 2014 mustang roush and it's having the same exact problem
Carlos Ariza you will have to replace the whole rack and pinion along with the core or have someone who knows how to repair electric power steering rack and pinions for mustangs
had he same problem on my 2014 gt, since it's electric water somehow damaged it and caused it to slowly deteriorate and failed as I was backing out of my driveway and the steering rack completely locked, thankfully not while I was driving
@@tennyboy13 Hi, I removed the Bearing from inside the rack and discovered the problem was due to water intrusion(Rust). I searched everywhere but couldn't find a replacement, so I had to replace the whole rack. I did it myself and it wasn't that hard.
@@Elshani91 same, the rubber seal is broken on mine, opened it, it was all super rusty in there. Must be the problem. I'll be replacing it this week too (with a secondhand one, almost same OEM number, hopefully no problems after that). Thanks
Replaced my DR33-3D070-GD (or CD) with DR33-3D070-BB and works perfectly. (For Mustang GT 2014 Only difference is the plastic caps (blue or grey or yellow) on the steering arm. Some are wider some are smaller, that is because of the inch wheels you use, you can just pop them off and on the new one and doneee :))
Jeffrey Platto mine also V6 and I have the same sound. Did you fix it Bro !! Ist dangerous to drive with , it's only noisy but not affecting my wheels turn 😁
