Castrovalva saw all the 5th Doctor’s first new companions struggle to save his life. The Caves Of Androzani saw the 5th Doctor struggle to save his last new companion’s life. That’s a most ironic comparison between the beginning and the ending for a Doctor’s era that in certain ways was the most companion-driven era in the classic series.
I got to meet Peter Davison at a convention once and I gotta say he’s a very nice man. Although he may not be my favorite Doctor, I do have a soft spot for him and love his stories such as The Five Doctors and Earthshock.

Also his new high top sneakers seemed awfully worn when they first appear - had no idea these were recorded out of order! Wpbt channel 2 in Miami aired all of these and at the end we were getting 7th doc stories a week after they aired in uk

Wasn't super impressed with PD at the time, but the wisdom that comes with hindsight has educated me and now I see what a class act he was. Following Tom was never going to be easy. But he didn't try to out-Tom Tom (That would have been impossible), but instead went for a more subtle and totally different approach. Not an immediate hit, but a grower.
Can I maybe just randomly say, that the Doctor, Adric, Nyssa and Tegan are amazing together?! They are so funny and just like I've already said, amazing! T-T
The fact Tegan is meant to be returning for the 60th anniversary is going to be brilliant and she's referenced in Matt Smith's era as well when he says to Clara about a 'Gobby Australian' he had to get to Heathrow Airport
They’ve all had a really crap day, Tegan spent ages getting lost in an impossible spaceship while her aunt was murdered and Nyssa’s entire home planet got destroyed by a monster who was wearing her father’s corpse. I’d probably want to get away as soon as possible too.
These episodes never get old for me. Peter Davison had some of the best classic Who stories IMO. Four to Doomsday and Kinda make this season of Who one of the very best.

Christopher had the huge job of bringing who to a new generation. Jodie was the experiment that people were ready for a female doctor then proceeded to make her woke with crappy writing

No, he isn't. His era is. He is my least favorite Doctor, but I do not hate him. Some of his stories are very likeable, I love Castrovalva, and also his confrontation with Davros.

I feel like this opinion is almost unspeakable... but when you hear so many old-who fans complaining that new-who isn't a patch on this- when this is almost unwatchable.
I know that this era of the show is much beloved but it feels like they changed the director every 10 seconds. It’s so jarring how disjointed every scene is and the special effects are incredibly half assed compared to in Tom Baker’s era. Not hating on the actors really but they were clearly not given much to work with here.
Ugh the beginning of the downfall of the classic era. For me Peter Davidson is the worse Doctor of all time like he doesn't feel like the Doctor not even a little bit and in Big Finish he is boring along with his stories.

Castrovalva is a great story to start off with the 5th Doctor the regeneration happened back on the episode Logoplios but countied On Castrovalva
Thing is though, his character doesn’t settle until Kinda.
