I laughed when i saw that there is an option to choose that in the quest.
That’s how I loved Paimon in that character story: she was like the person who had common sense to turn it on and off to see if it works or not.

@@silver5962 there might be parallels but in this case it's quite literal, the raiden shogun is just a robotic puppet, while Ei is inside her sword, although they both are the Raiden Shogun, as it also happened while Ei's twin sister was alive, they were both the same to the eyes of the people and to the world

I've been dying to talk about this. The difference between the Raiden Shogun and Ei can be heard in their voicelines, especially the desserts lines. Anne Yatco did an absolutely wonderful job with her duality
EXACTLY! Her voice is so sweet when she says 'desserts!' 😭😭
Now add in the story quest where she Voices the Shogun, Makoto and Ei and you can still hear the differences.

Ei and Raiden's dialogue on food makes me just think of some comedy skit where Raiden is going on about how food is meaningless and she has no favorite, while Ei sticks her hand out of Euthymia, smacks her with a frying pan, and says "Desserts. It's Desserts."

You can see clearly the difference in the naming of the "Birth Date" and "Birthday" where the former is when the Raiden Shogun is talking and the latter is when Ei is talking. "Birth Date" sounding too technical, something a robot/puppet would say while "Birthday" is the normal casual one, something Ei would say

Quite literally is. This video is already spoilers but here is some more.

The actual person in the game people interact with is a literal puppet the Electro archon made a long time ago. Having given up her physical form for her pursuit for eternity she made the puppet to maintain that pursuit while containing her actual personality in her own personal world which is basically her own mind. So yes two personalities because the outer one is literally just a husk following its programing, while the inner one is an actual person.

Much like how Morax is the original name and goes by Lex Lapis with the mortal name of Zhongli.

If you noticed her dialogue has emotions, chances are Ei is the one who is speaking- not the puppet. The puppet is kinda edgy and mostly serious tbh. This will remove your confusion whether it's Ei or Shogun who is speaking.
It's actually quite easy to distinguish who's speaking if you're using the JP voicelines.

@@sen2815 I am on the English version but I can still distinguish between Ei and the Shogun. Ei's lines are way more sweet and filled with emotion while Shogun is mechanical and cold. It's not that hard although I understand some people may find it difficult
If Raiden can clone herself you got to ask who is making copies of Katherine for the adventurer's guild throughout teyvat? Its either one of the harbingers doing or Katherine is actually a clone/puppet of someone important.

No, if you remember Katheryne told us when we arrived in Inazuma that there aren't three different clones but it's just her teleporting or something like that. I don't remember the exact dialogue but it was something like

Then she went on to imply that there's only one so it's safe to assume she keeps porting from one place to another

So the voice lines are actually the traveler greeting or asking our characters. Like "What's your favorite food?" and then they would answer respectively with what is in their voice line.
This aspect of the game confirms we won't get a playable character unless they become friendly with the traveler.

I mean technicallyyyyyyy, you can ask someone who hates you what's their favorite food, and they would still answer. Answer would still be "What's it to you?" or "Piss off", but they're still anwers.

So basically comparing Ei and Raiden Shogun is basically like comparing normal Mei and Herrscher of Thunder Mei on the outside, got it. Now all we need is her meeting a Kiana face that's clingy to her and she'll undergo her cooking training arc!

Another nice detail is that when you place Shogun in your teapot her personality is cold towards you. But after you complete Ei's unlockable story quest Shogun becomes Ei in teapot thus changing the overall interactions(not that shogun has much interactions available to begin with).
Raiden sounds like a very strike woman that kids would avoid like the gross veggies.
Ei on the other hand sounds like a sweet heart that just what to be your friend.
Reading the comments is sad. How are y'all so confused about everything. Baal had a twin sister. The sister's name was Makoto, the baal we know now is named Beelzebul or Ei. They served as the archon together. When Makoto died it left Ei to be the sole electro archon/Baal. Calling them both Baal would be correct since the people of inazuma never knew they were twin gods and called both Baal. The current baal (Ei) created a robot/copy of herself which serves as shogun in her place. The copy/robot is what she calls shogun. The playable Baal we the player play as is either Ei or it is her copy Shogun. That is why her answers are different. Some answers are by the copy and others are answered by Ei herself.
Ei use her spear sooo i have a teory
When we use the spear we are Ei and in the full power(when we use a sword) is the shogun raiden her attacks are more faster and are like anger then the spear part

In the second stage of Ei fight, she uses her sword. So she also uses it, also she defeated Orobashi (snake god, not sure how to write it's name) with her sword

Honestly, based on the voicelines, and since Ei is inside the sword, we probably have both teh Shogun puppet and Ei herself. No idea if they swap or if we just talk to Ei from the sword too (as she called us in her quest)

You know, ever since we learned that she was called the "Raiden Shogun", I've been wondering why she's called the "shogun" and not the "emperor/empress" because a "shogun" implies that they are the one actually leading the nation for the emperor/empress, the latter of which is merely a figurehead. Then the revelation that the physical Raiden Shogun we see in the real world is actually a puppet happened, and then I realized the connection.
Ei is the "emperor" - she is technically the leader of the nation but leaves most if not all the work to the puppet. She is the symbol of Inazuma and everyone recognizes her as such.
Meanwhile, the puppet is the "shogun", as she is acting on the behalf of Ei herself. Not to mention that shoguns are military leaders as well, and we can see how the shogun compares to Ei when it comes to duels/battles. Ei does not kill if it isn't necessary, but the shogun is a bit less merciful. The shogun is also more serious and emotionless compared to Ei herself, as expected of a military leader, as well.
This just blow my mind

@@DaffaTemiyah He's considered the weakest because of what he stands for and how it opposes the method of how an Archon should function. Venti is the God of Freedom, famously he freed Mondstadt from Decarabian's tyranny at the cost of his bard friend dying so he assumed the form of his bard friend, whom we know is called Venti, so that he could at least keep playing the lyre. But as the God of Freedom he doesn't directly rule over his nation like Morax or Baal do with Liyue and Inazuma. According to Venti himself, an Archon's power is by his capacity to rule the city, but since he stands for freedom he doesn't rule his nation, so in comparison to the other Seven who rule their nations directly like Morax used to before becoming Zhongli, and like Baal (Beelzebul but that's a complicated story) currently does as the Raiden Shogun, he's the weakest. But in his glory days he could play his lyre and channel such strong winds that it reshaped mountains and blew the cold ice away. He blessed Dvalin with enough power to take down the dragon Durin, whose corpse later became part of the mountain we know as Dragonspine.
Now he's a drunk bard, but I'm pretty sure walking around playing music for wine and watching his people be free is something he wants more than to rule over them
I kinda expected he will be relevant to the story. like making a prank at Raiden shogun by using a fake Vision. I mean he did pulled a prank at zhongli at the expense of both Lieyu and mondstadt

I still haven't beat everything but my theory was baal looked herself away partially in her mind to protect herself the trailer made me think this more. Not sure if I'm right yet lol.
Actually the lady in the trailer was her Twin sister, the real Baal. Electro archon before she died.
She locked herself away because she wanted solitude and to preserve eternity.
An example Yae gave us is that Raiden thought if she left to go to the plane of euphemia without saying goodbye to Yae, their friendship would forever remain as she left it. Unchanging and eternal
Spoilers:
There are two original Electro archons. They are twins. Baal as the main archon and Ei the shadow. Baal died 500years ago so Ei took the whole job but she made a puppet to be on the surface world while she eternaly meditates on her euthymia. The inazuman doesnt know this.

So our pulled char in fact are both, some of the voice lines are from Ei, some from the Raiden Shogun.
In her personal quests, Traveler also asked her about if Raiden Shogun is her, Ei said yes, as she never intended to give Inazuma control to someone else.
So yes, it is in fact better to think Ei split her mind and put in both.....

I think Ei is not controlling the Shogun continuously. It's more like she leaves the Shogun on automatic pilot
I think it's left to the player to decide, considering the Baal in the teapot is explicitly stated to be Ei, whereas the playable has both "shogun" and "Ei" like dialogue for everything.

I personally think it’s a combination of Ei walking around, and the Shogun puppet doing the fighting.
