@josestralis420 Interestingly, this is not a "restored" machine, it is a well maintained original low hours machine. The company that used to own it didn't use it very much. There are a couple things to repair on it, but it is generally in very good condition.
@generationll a55 camera, 8 gig stick holds about 90 minutes in HD MP4. However, all prosumer (affordable) HD cameras have a sensor heat issue that limits how long you can run it before cooling, ~15 minutes on a hot day, then a brief cooldown. Only the Sony Pro-HG Mk2 memories are fast enough to keep up with the HD data stream. Pro cameras have liquid cooled sensors, slightly more expensive. .
@canvids1 I'm friends with the owner/operator, will probably shoot onboard next year. This time I just wanted to get some good tripod video of it working. Note that it has a one-person seat, instead of the old sofa design, so the passenger has a rough ride. I messed up my back a couple years ago shooting onboard of that D8 2U at Brownsville (not posted yet). Operator gets a foot thick cushion, passenger gets a shop rag to sit on.
@UnitCrane514 9+ hours, 3.2 gigabytes HD. Started it last night before turning in, still wasn't done this am. I've had a lot of problems (image artifacts and videos that stall) with YT standard upload, now use their h-t-t-p-s version. The HD ones are done with the W7 movie maker, which is a big step back from the good one on XP, but the XP one won't handle MP4's or Sony's fancy format.
too bad the D9 operator wouldn't let you up in the cab to video then he could have shown you how everything works. When I worked heavy equipment I used to let poeple come up and visit and they were just in awe of what it was like in the cab and how you operated it.
Damn, I'd be embarrassed to even be near that thing, much less have to drive it, they need to park and scrap that wore out piece of junk..... Damn thing is so old and rusty, just listen to it squeak when it drives forward or backward.....
D9 CAT, the machine that changed it all way back in 1955. Nothing like it.
The Cat D9 is responsible for opening up the HWY's of the USA and also the developing world.
Beautiful D9, thanks for sharing.
A proud and majestic sight; the high-tracks just don't have the robust elegance of the long-tracks.

This is a great running old school Caterpillar. Looks great, too. I wonder how old it is?
Belo trabalho.
you need to drop the blade and hog some dirt and make the turbo really whistle!
Wow that dozer is in realy good condition, for how old it is.
Listen to that D9's turbo sing .

would a d9 that old have as much power and earth moving capabilities as a brand new 2013 high-track d9 dozer?
Maybe not but I'll guarantee it won't sound as good and reliability wouldn't be the same no electronics in this ole girl.
Is this at Zagray Farm museum in Colchester,Ct.”
A fine machine
