Procedure in the paper back Haynes manual is completely different to this! You still can’t get the alternator out of the engine bay! The procedure in this video will make it possible to remove the alternator. Just a shame I didn’t just check online instead of looking at the book first!
Hi,
what diameter are the substitute threaded rods used to support the lock-carrier while in service position?
Cheers, J.
Pretty sure they're M10
@@HaynesManuals Great, thanks. I'm interested to see how this works out. I've the Haynes manual and this to work off so hopefully I have it covered. (fingers crossed..)
@@HaynesManuals Yep, I can confirm they're an M10. On the 2010 1.6tdi CAYC anyway. Although, there was a solid metal pipe that hindered sliding the lock carrier forward unfortunately.
Why is this step necessary?
What tire are you taking off the driver side?
The front wheel
driver side for RHD, passanger side for LHD
He's going to take off the rear wheel while working on the front 😂
Dude I’m taking the whole car apart just to get to the alternator
