David
Emailing you now.
Congrats! Lucky you
Thank you, J Fin. I'd been researching these recently, looking to expand my capabilities with astrophotography, so the timing was perfect. And I feel very fortunate to have won "something" - especially this. Thanks again to RMSP and their ongoing support for all of us.
If only companies could write instructions as good as you demonstrate the product! Thank goodness for RUclips and thank goodness for this channel! Can’t wait to see other amazing videos from you.
Because Astro photography has the potential to allow our audience to see something they might never otherwise see in the way that a device like this makes possible.......it's a whole relatively untapped art form.Beautiful!
Loved the first live stream on Astrophotography. Living here in town I've gotten to attend several lectures there in the basement but with live streaming and RUclips I don't have to miss any. I really appreciate the expand info on star trackers in this video especially on the counter weights on the iOptron Sky Guider. I was trying to decide between the Sky Tracker and the Sky Guider. Now I know which way to go. Thanks.
I learned so much already from the video. That tracker definitely takes things to a whole new level. Thank you for the continuous education.
Ever since spending time every summer growing up in the Bitterrrot Valley and being able to see the Milky Way for the first time I’ve loved the stars! I took my first Milky Way shot ever in Darby, MT and I’ve been planning to try to make a diy tracker in hopes of getting a tracked shot. Thank you so much for your instructional videos, they have been incredibly helpful!
I'm so excited for the other astrophotography classes! Its is cool that you guys are doing this!
Great video. I started looking for one of these last year and this seems to be the best one in this price range.
Nice concise description of how to install and align a tracker. I've taken several Milky Way images, including a panorama, and I think successfully, but all w/ hi-ISO and ~20 sec exposure times, and stacking 25-50 images for noise reduction. Last winter I purchased very long telephoto and one night I turned it on to the Orion Nebula, but couldn't get a long enough exposure time for any kind of usable images. Been looking at getting a tracker ever since, specifically either of the iOpterons you discussed. Your video removed most of the apprehension I was having when contemplating the alignment. Thanks so much,
I attended RMSP 15 years ago! Astrophotography is something I greatly admire and have yet to tackle in any serious way, I would love to work with a set up like you just showed, I need a new and exciting photographic adventure. Nice video, and great explanation.
Great info and a great explanation of how to setup and track. Getting back into astronomy after a hiatus. It's great to see all the info available to relearn the science and the art.
This would be awesome to get to the next level. My 14 yr old is excited to start shooting more Astro nights with me it’s brought us so much joy and closer together. She was actually showing me this item the other day. I was surprised at the research she’s doing on her own and planning our next night out. This would be a wonderful surprise if we won this. Best of luck to all.
Thanks for the excellent video. Last year I took a trip to photograph the Northern Lights and was hooked on Astrophotography. Now looking at what equipment is needed and your video was just want I needed to understand the Sky Glider.
Makes me even more excited for 2019’s Eastern Sierra class! And have a group of 7th graders learning about astronomy that I look forward to at least introduce the 25 second high ISO shot to!
Great video. Was thinking of getting one of these for Xmas and always wondered exactly how you go about setting them up.
Great video! You really packed a lot of information into 12 minutes. And nicely organized and edited too. It was all surprisingly easy to follow. Now I feel like I definitely need to expand my astrophotography horizons. I’ve only done stationary, single image shots of the night sky so far but have always been curious about the process you described here.
What a great tool. I've watched a few video's on it and the value is tremendous. Thanks for reviewing it. I'm just getting started in astrophotography and the iOptron Skyguider Pro is the tracker!
Nice! Yep, the SkyGuider is a fantastic mount!
Hey Forest! This makes me so excited for the other Astrophotography classes! Keep up the great videos!
Awesome video! I've been researching about astrophotography and how to capture the milky way. This tracker would definitely help with my budget setup. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for posting this. I have been thinking about trying asltrophotograpy. My previous efforts were back in the long distant film days when the "Experts" cooked their film actually super cooled it to make it more light sensitive.
Few weeks back I watched your lecture "Astrophotography Basics" on youtube. Prior to watching that video, I could not imagine that astrophotography is possible with just a DSLR. Now I know that DSRL on a mount like iOptron SkyGuider Pro can take long exposure shots of deep sky object. I am getting into the astrophotography. Thanks for your inspiration and guidance.
I am Canadian so as per rules, I am not not eligible for contest..
Thank you for the walkthrough. I've been debating on ordering one of these off of Amazon when I've got enough cash, but have been wondering at the difficuly of the setup..
I first discovered RMSP through their presentations for B and H. Their Lightroom videos are by far the most helpful, for me at least, that I have ever seen, including the Lynda LR courses. Thanks for making so much material available to us all.
Thank you for your videos. I watched the long one you did for the meeting. It was very informative and very clear!
I’m so glad I found this video, I’ve been slowly learning how to shoot the stars. The Milky Way is so beautiful. A Sky Tracker would really help me take it to the next level. Thank You for explaining how these work. Very informative and Thank You!
So happy to find this video! Planning on heading to dark skies to try some deep sky and have been oggling the iOptron Pro! Really appreciate all of the videos from Rocky Mountain School of Photography. I had no idea that photographing nebulae and galaxies was actually possible. Totally new world for me and I hope to become super proficient.
Great overview! So glad I found this channel! Now I have a way to combine my interest in Astronomy with my passion for photography.
Great video. I've always been amazed at astrophotography, and had no awareness of this tracker equipment. Your video makes getting great shots look achievable!
Big fan of RMSP and have attended RMSP lectures on astrophotography in the past - I've learned a tremendous amount that is directly attributable to being able to take shots in the field. Haven't used a tracker before, but looking to take the next step. Thanks for the instructional videos!
Astrophotography provides an amazing backdrop that is not only uniquely beautiful , but also gives earthly compositions an exquisitely galactic scale. It’s ability to capture a piece of our small blue dot against the enormous cosmos around us is beyond measure. To see so much more than we can with the naked eye is one of the things I love about photography. It would be awesome to add such a tool to my kit and explore this universe of light around us even more.
This is a very well done video. It made a complex process much more understandable. Nice job.
Awesome review! Thinking about getting one myself for camping trips. Thanks again for all the information.
I have been wanting to get into astronomy again, but need to update my rigging. This piece would help me considerably in my travels.
While I haven't attempted astrophotography yet, I've always wanted to try! I've seen these BEAUTIFUL images of the night sky and I've always wanted to try and take one. Fingers crossed!
Thanks for showing how to use an astrophotography tool. Your video was great. I’ve always wanted to get better low noise pics of the sky. However, it looked to hard to use. You have made it look simpler. Thanks.
This was a great introduction to the tool! I think a follow up of actual field use would be extremely helpful too! Ive really been enjoying your content as of late. Keep it up!
Sounds very easy to set up and use. I would like to try this at some point in the near future. Thanks for sharing the video.
You actually inspired me to purchase a tracker with the live workshop you did a few months back. I currently have a (very used) Celestron advance GT that is so heavy and bulky, it makes it very difficult to handle in the field. I would be forever grateful to take a smaller, more manageable tracker into the field.
Great video. I am familiar with the problems of star movement an d noise. This looks like the best solution.
Just getting started with astrophotography! This would be a great jump start. Thanks for putting this on!
I have always been amazed by tracking systems for astro. Great video and very easy for someone like me to comprehend! If I am blessed (which being alive is my biggest blessing) I may be the fortunate person that can pursue this intriguing field of my craft with a HUGE head start! Thanks again!!
I was a Navigator on a ship for many years and love looking at the stars. Now that I have taken up photography as a hobby the two loves have come together and I hope to someday get the "noiseless" photos of the stars. Your video was great
Great video on putting the Skywatcher together and clarifying a few questions about operation.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome quick video on the basics of mount setup! Amazing how much iOptron fit into a small portable package. This would be perfect to use during camping trips and show the younger kids what's "up"! ✨😎
Would i need extra weight using canon m50 with sigma 150-600 lense
you answered my question that none of the instructions , or the other tutorials covered THANK YOU !
You are welcome!
Great video and explanation, clear and concise, one of the best I've seen. Thanks!
Awesome video! I've been researching about astrophotography and how to capture the milky way. This tracker would definitely help with my budget setup
This would be so awesome to have!! I’m still learning astrophotography and really appreciate all the knowledge shared on this channel!
Thank you so much! You guys are awesome! I'm always disappointed with my astrophotography because of the star trails and grain. I think this would really help! Keep the great videos coming!
Solid overview! Been a while since I looked at these, and they seem to have come a long way in a couple years. Would love to give this a try when I visit the Sawtooths next month...
I have dabbled in the realm of astrophotography once before at the international dark sky park in northern Michigan and had so much fun doing it. I was able to capture the Milky Way but it took too much editing to be able to truly see the outstanding nature of it. With a tool like this I would be able to capture much more amazing photos of the stars!
That was an AWESOME explanation of how to set up and align my tracker (skyguider pro), much better than videos several times in length, too!
Thank you!
I just recently purchased the Canon 70-300mm zoom lens and looking to get into astrophotography. The iOptron Sky Guider Pro would be ideal in completing my setup. Thanks for sharing the video and look forward to exploring more on the topic of astrophotography from this channel. Keep up the great work and hope to see you in Atlanta in the future!
I’m new into Astrophotography.. But omg your videos are so very informative. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and helping me to improve my photog. Looking forward to more videos from you. 🤗☺️
Excellent description of how to utilize the correct equipment to achieve amazing photos using these Astrophotography add-ons. I have always wanted to try these long exposures with my Digital SLR. The tracker that you demonstrated would make the shoot much easier. Thank you for the demonstration
Living in an area with less light than most, I've done some night photography, but this seems to make the process much smoother.
Awesome Video...i was researching about guide mounts as i want to get into astrophotography and this mount came up on top in quite a few reviews. it will help me in my work ...keep it up...thanks for the great tips.
Wow! This is super interesting and definitely an area of photography that I would love to get into. I've done some long exposures of the moon before but this would really up my astro game.
Wow! So exciting. This is a type of photography I have always wanted to try. My dad showed me some atrophotgraphy when I was young and I have always ben fascinated by it. Eager to start making some cool images with my new iOptron Sky Guider Pro!!! WooHoo!! Thank you RMSP!
I subscribed just yesterday to learn how to advance from night photography to astrophotography... really good information so far, going to try some of the first steps this weekend!
I have always lived in the city until now. I never really got a chance to see the sky at night, but now I can. I would love to get started in night sky photography. :)
I am majoring in astrophysics at UCLA and I have always loved photography. I love doing long exposure photography of cities at night and nature. (Getting the beautiful silk-like water or the gorgeous city lights) I have always loved astrophotography and I take pictures of the night sky often and would love to get out and do it better. I have been trying to up my gear to better increase the capability of my astrophotography!
I have tried some VERY basic astrophotography and am fascinated by it. Would love to be able to explore the infinite possibilities! Good luck to everyone out there.
Thanks for the overview! I've been looking for something like this since I sold my telescope...
The only practical way to shoot the night sky without having to worry about things like star trails. Good job!
It is the one thing I can use to keep me in the game, I get bored of portrait photography far too easily. I always appreciate an opportunity to make a time lapse.
I have always been fascinated by the stars and the night sky. A few years ago I finally figured out how to take long exposure shots which blew my mind, but they are not as amazing as they could be if I had the sky guider. However, being a high school student I do not have much money to splurge on new photography equipment (it is very sad). Thanks for the great content! :)
This would be absolutely perfect for capturing some sweet star shots on my Shenandoah National Park adventures this year! I’m always super impressed with RMSP’s outreach to every kind of photographer and I had so much fun participating in the high school photo contest last year and the year before. Hopefully I could have fun experimenting with this beauty as well! Thanks for this great instruction and for all you all do for passionate photographers like myself!
Amazing instructor and amazing video...thanks Forest!
Great videos! You are a very knowledgable instructor and you deliver content in a very user friendly manner! Thank you for sharing and have a great day!
Wow, you took a subject that could have been ridiculously boring and made it enjoyable to watch. I've always loved astrophotography and would love to love it more by doing it myself. Thanks for the video and I look forward to watching more.
I've dabbled with star trails and lunar eclipses but would really like to do more intense astrophotography. I've been tempted to get one of the iOptron devices, but was always intimidated because I didn't know how to set it up. I loved seeing the detailed explanation here, based on actually how someone would use it, so thanks for that! Videos are much better than user manuals ;-)
another fellow Montanain here just dropped by to say thank you for the very detailed and informative how to video. just purchased one of the full kits super stoked to take my astro photography to the next level
Awesome, thank you!
I was trying the astrophotography, but the tracking was always my problem, and stacking short exposure pictures does not add up the signal, but gives me the average.
Thanks for the instruction and demonstration.
Thanks for another great video as a old guy you bring hope to the future of photography have a great day
You are full of information Forest! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!
I am getting started in this hobby and your videos are very informative. Thanks a lot for the time.
Very helpful video, building my DSO kit and found your original video on astrophotography. Well done!
Omg I could track all the things :O with long lenses :X Also I love how excited you looked balancing the counterweights
Astrophotography is aspirational for me. I've improved my photography of astral bodies and what an uptick with an iOptron Sky Guider Pro!
Great, informative video as always. Forrest has helped me with some great advice before and with this mount I'd have a better chance at following it! Thanks for the videos and all the help.
Awesome video, Forest! You make everything so much easier to learn and progress. I’ve done some night photography but this would be so great to try and get shots of Orion or andromeda - something I’ve always wanted to try. Keep up the great work! :)
Quick, and concise. So, once the Polaris is adjusted to the dot in the polar scope, the Sky Guider Pro needs to kept in "on" position, even if the photos to be taken are an hour or so, from the time the Polaris is adjusted.
I would love to learn how to do astrophotography and that cool tool will get me one step closer! Oh, and you guys rock!!!
Very informative and clearly explained video. I got interested in astronomy in grade school. Photography came later in life, but two years ago I took the RMSP class on night photography in Zion. This would be such a great tool for photographing stars. We live in dark sky country, so it would get a lot of use.
Enjoyed the video and would love to have the tracker to expand my night photography. I have looked at many different devices to track the night sky and the ioptron looks like the best I have seen.
Why haven't I heard of this tool!! I've attempted astrophotography but had no luck with clear photos. c
Clearly explained instruction. maybe I'll get one even though!
Wow. You just opened a whole universe to me!!
Astromazing! RMSP once again blows my mind. We live in the tundra of MN and I love the dark and cold that we have here. This affords us to be able to shot amazing astrophotography. With this tool from iOptron my photos can only improve! Thank you RMSP!
Living in the amazing state of Wyoming, I have little to no light pollution and can't wait to begin astrophotography. I use a Canon 1DX for my wildlife photography, but have no astrophotography equipment to go with it. This has long been a bucket list item for me. Since my stage 3 cancer diagnosis, I've been working down my bucket list and would love to be able to cross astrophotography from that list.
SkyGuider Pro helpful “How To” synopsis. Have heard many positive reviews about SkyGuider Pro simplicity, build quality and tracking capabilities for wide angle, longer exposure astrophotography. Going beyond the single well-planned Astro shot. Tracking seems so natural an evolutionary step to the next level! Love the flexibility, portability and options for better wide angle nightscape and larger deep sky object capture this iOptron product creates. Definitely on my list for use with right camera an optics! TY
I love astrophotography. My only shots have been with a home built barn door tracker with and old range finder when I was in high school!
Another great video. Have been interested in astrophotoraphy since going to the the observatories in Mauna Kea and Fort Davis
Using a tracker for astro sounds sweet! I currently used Starry Landscape Stacker for my images. The tracker must take it to the next level. Would love to try it out.
Great video! I would love to use this to teach myself and my kiddos about astrophotography.
Needed one of these when I was taking pictures of the eclipse!
Hey Forest! Pretty excited to see that you have a channel, the giveaway is just a bonus honestly. I am hoping for clear skies in Boulder this winter though, good seeing at 5300+ ft.!
Astrophotography was the first kind of photography I did back in the film days and I've been doing it ever since.
Oh man! Great video! Thanks for being such a great resource in Missoula!
