I agree with you 100%. They should reboot YB and make it more about being a celebrity aka The Boys. It was a huge missed opportunity. I always loved YB and StormWatch.
I thought both were great. I think too often that the early stories published by all of the guys at IMAGE in the 1990's get a bad rap because most forget that they each were introducing a universe and cast that had no previous history in the public eye; and every single story had to start somewhere.
If you read the first five issues of ACTION COMICS, THE AVENGERS, X-MEN, and any of the decades old universe starting point comics; the storylines and characters need time to get a foothold and have to stand on very little exposure.
TEAM YOUNGBLOOD#1 has the benefit of a year of universe building when compared to YOUNGBLOOD#1; which should be considered "the very first peak through a keyhole into a radical new comic universe never seen before", in my opinion.
I think Youngblood 5 is where it finally picks up. It was the issue from Jim Valentino during Image X-Month that got me really hooked. He brought that celebrity feel to it. Plus, Troll was a great addition, even if a lot of people don't like him. He was a comedic Wolverine figure, in my opinion.
@@CryptoComics things definitely improve in issue #5, it's just #1-4 are like the foundation to a very chaotic universe. (which is never boring)
This could be better adapted as a long anime series as well; especially if they include adult themes as introduced in BLOODSTRIKE and "Project: Born Again."(a black ops program from the same government that backs YOUNGBLOOD) Lots of story potential that would make great Netflix original content. It is really a shame that deal fell through with Rob Liefeld earlier this year.
@@nicolekoch1332 If I was given the keys to the castle, I would write the Netflix series so that it fluctuates between a reality television show and a traditional superhero film. All of the action like a Marvel movie, but all of the exposition and character development scenes like Mtv's Real World or Dog the Bounty Hunter with shoulder-mounted cameras catching Younglbood in their "natural state"/
I managed to pick up a first printing of Youngblood issue 1 from my local comic shop
I really want to read the re-written version of Youngblood #1 that's only available in the collected edition. Rob teamed up with a dude to create new dialogue that was supposed to make less of a mess of the team's debut.
@@CryptoComics replying a year later.... I have that hardback version of Youngblood and enjoy it very much. I also noticed they did brighten up some the inks in those faces in the first issue which is indeed an improvement. I only wish they had used the cover to issue one (not the flip side) for the hardcover. I think it is a much better image than the one they went with (think they went with issue 3's cover?). However, there is a page in the back that has that cover recolored so at least we do get to see what it would have looked like. (EDIT: I just happened to be curious enough about it now to google that hardback and it looks like they do or did offer it at one time with that first issue cover... maybe it's a different print run than the one I have... hmm they seem to be expensive now too.)
I found issues 1 through 9 of Team Youngblood in a bundle for 15 bucks, is that worth the price

Coming from someone who has the first couple of issues of youngblood and one issue of team youngblood, team youngblood looks a lot better. Although youngblood was the first issue of Liefelds whole universe. Without it we wouldn't have anything else of his like brigade, prophet, supreme, etc.
There is a remastered version of YB #1 that only comes in a hardcover collection. Rob and another writer completely rewrote the story so it wouldn't suck as much.

i luved both..have both....not sure how mnay issues i went with both but i latched onto younblood and team youngblood....i want these characters as action figures in modern time like black series star wars, etc...these will be super bad ass action figures
Hey, as for knowing about the characters first, that's no fun. I think it's better if it's revealed as you go. But, that's my opinion. 90s was a different day, but it was great as well as now.
