The Sena Eken Schieber Awards continues to spread equal opportunities in education for young women

The Sena Eken Schieber Economics Awards was established in 2015 by George Schieber to honor his late wife, Sena Eken Schieber, an aspiring economist who made a mark in the field of Economics. Created uniquely for female students specializing in Economics, the award supports their graduate studies journey in the United States at high-ranking universities. Just as George envisioned, 19 young women are following in Sena’s footsteps as future economists, striving to be the best in their fields since the award's establishment. While awardees have continued their careers in Economics since graduation, each and every one of them is motivated to make their mark in their fields.
We’re delighted to announce the 2024 Sena Eken Schieber Scholarship recipients: Ayse Nur Battal, Kardelen Cicek, and Dilsu Tanal.
