I work at a store and people really do steal more than I thought. I find empty boxes of medicine all the time. The weirdest stolen item I've seen was an empty box of laxatives.
Just last week this lady came up to the counter and I rang up 2 items for her and then she asked me where the dove baby soap was. I told her where it was and then she grabbed her bag of stuff and walked to "the baby aisle" very quickly. I didn't even see her leave, but she never came back. In my store we're not allowed to point out that people are stealing because they might have a weapon.
Sorry, 3 years late but I gotta say that that's horrible. If you can't confront people who steal, they'd just always get away with it.
