I feel like parents push off their own feelings onto their children. In the first case a child isn't going to know what they're feeling form moment to moment that's unrealistic it's OK for them to be uncomfortable sometimes. Because it's within that uncomfortability is where we learn how to deal with life. You're not raising children you're raising future adults, childhood is a short season. In the second case, he's doing the same things pushing his own feelings off on to his children, in a way. He only understands how to deal with his feelings through activities. He thought that being a coach and taking them to different sports like soccer, and baseball would give him a understanding of his children, and thus making him a great parent. But he is hiding a part of himself because he never discusses who he truly is. He needs to express himself to his children. So now things feel a little foreign. They are now teenagers with harmons and thinking they know everything about the world which all teenagers. They are moody and different little creaturess. Finding out that they aren't into sports now must feel like a betrayal in a way. Kids today need people to be open with them because they go to the dark place really qickly now days. Do things that they like learn their interests. Let them know that the divorce isn't their fault, let them know that you're lonely sometimes because things changed. Get to know them so they can know you not just as their dad, but also as a man.
