First time I've ever heard a car salesman actually say something pretty damn cool. That fan does scavenge a fair bit of power from the crank pulley and upset the balance for high revving etc. Nice to see you really appreciate the heritage and pedigree of these cars.

I wish we got holden manaroa's, torana's and XA and XB falcons over here in the states. Im glad my dads an aussie and owns a Manaro GTS 350 with its 350 built to a fully forged 383 stroker with 530hp and an real XB GT 351 with its 351 cleveland built to a fully forged 600hp 408 stroker. both cars have been in the U.S since 1986. My dad also the original owner to both cars. power brakes and steering make it fun to drive. both cars restored on 275 front and 295 rear BF Goodrich white letter radial T/As

The A9X would the top muscle car, Having driven a GTHO Phase 3 and a A9X back in the early 80's, (The Torana had a fully worked over 308), A9X has to be the best all round muscle car ever made here, even thou I'm a ford fan from 1970s

had one for many years a 4 door caribbean turquoise always knew that they would jump in value but for family reasons[needed money] sold it for a song still the biggest regret of my life. I loved that car and drove it almost full boot everywhere. Had the 2.60 statesman rear end ratio and combined with m21 it would do 55 kph in first gear at 3000 rpm ,110 at 6000 and 165 at 9000 rpm . I swap out the original engine for a while replacing it with possibly the most radical L34 platform race engine in the country at the time with 11.5 to 1 compression running on avgas 115 octane able to reach 9000 rpm. It ran an Ignition Developments L34 dizzy using 2 500000 volt
308 to 9000 rpm????? It sounds like you turned a 308 into a Formula 1 engine
Biggest heap bullsh-t i have ever heard,race engine with a 2.6 rear end and a 308 reving to 9000,i and other guys i know couldnt keep them together reving to7000

This A/9X isn’t it the top 33 race models, only a street going model, I have been looking for an authentic race model for a while and this torana is beautiful!
I had a customer trade in a hatchback Torana like this in on a motorcycle in the late 90’s, I remember it was white and red with the Marlboro cig packet design on the bonnet, I wholesaled it off to brisbane street machines for $8,000. I’m guessing it’s worth a bit more now 😂😂

Who the fuck thought brown trim on a blue exterior was what drivers wanted? All black interior with white or red inserts in the seats & door panels would’ve been a far better choice.

Back in the earliy '80s a small used car dealier near where i lived in Chadstone, Vic. had a yellow 1974 L34 four door on his lot for about 12 months. No one wanted to pay the $7k asking price. Today? 370k?, 470?k???.
Could be the Sunbird model kitted out like an original.. The Sunbird models were 6cyl and all had Tan interiors and prone to rust in and around the pillars of the hatchback door...Is this claimed to be an original V8.!!!!!

500000 volt accel coils .It was disgusting how sick off its head it was able to drift anywhere anytime.
Why are the other ID Tags painted they didn't come out that way thank you .

Would sound more like a V8 with a twin 3” exhaust system, not the slim 45mm system that’s on it now. Let it breath!
sound does not equal horsepower; too large an exhaust pipe actually loses power by reducing the extractor effect in the primary pipes.

I’ve always thought hatch back toranas looked very similar to mk2 ford escorts. Just bigger.
Considering they came out 2 years after the mk2 escort which would be about the time frame in which you could take a car a copy it really doesn’t help holdens best car.

Sadly the who ever painted it knew nothing about A9X Hatches
Problem 1, A9X didn't have window molding. Problem 2, the blackout around the edges of the bonnet are wrong for a A9X hatch indicating the "original" paint is a respray. Never ever seen an interior with this colour combo, did they run out of the black trims or brown dash and consoles? lol. Who's the original owner and what's his story with the weird interior? Credit for using the proper cluster with the brake light bottom centre and for not using one of those rare spare after market steering wheel centre caps with SS logo,which never existed. Problem 3, rebirthing is just far too easy, especially for an owner with a written off A9X 😁.

A9X came with a 10 bolt. That was one of the main reasons for this car to exist. Not a big fan though
