My first car was an LC GTR. The biggest fuck up of my life was selling that beast. This beauty is my dream car.

I think the brake upgrade and the 253 would have be the perfect choice for this car. You are 100% on the money with those wheels, there could not have been a better choice. To then retain the original interior, it looks perfect.
As others have said, its a pity you did not let the engine note entertain us in the background rather than the music. If only Holden had done this them self.

I've heard this car and it's awesome hearing a V8 from a little Torana! Congratulations Shane all the years of hard work now you can enjoy forever!

A particularly well done resto, amazing that a car enthusiast would think to let us hear the car rather than the crap in the background.

What a SICK car!!! Reminds me of my old LJ 4 door that got stolen in the mid 2000's from High st Thomastown, Vic. It was a Cobalt blue LJ, with a 253- that I changed for a 383. I had 13" Sprintmasters on the front and some very rare 14" HT or HG rally pack wheels that looked identical to Sprintmaster, just an inch bigger. Oh I miss that car. Stinking cops didn't even care it was gone. Didn't want to see the vid footage from the business next door that could have identified who stole it. I knew exactly who took it- the guy who sold it to me stole it back after I spent $15000 swapping the motor. Lovely, huh?!? I never got over losing that car

i have a 202 with triple carbs and i love it to death. I always considered dropping a V8 in it but never did. lucky for me i have a HG monaro with a V8 but id rather drive the torrie any day if i want to really drive.. The Monaro is great for cruising and drags but the torrie is awesome for fanging like brocky

BLOODY AWSOME! 😎👍 I'm no holden fan but a true lover of cars and can appreciate them. The work you have done and the effort you have gone to shows in a great example of an aussie icon with a twist. Something I think that should've been done from factory, but that's just me. Great job ☺

Cool car and great engine choice - keepin it in the family. I'd put in a T5 or a 5 - speed Tremec though to make it more highway friendly.. But I wish I bought a GTR when they could be had for 2 grand, they are going for just insane dollars now, that goes for most pre 75 Aussie muscle! But Rare Spares are such an asset these days for restoring classic Aussie muscle. The branch near me actually buys up all the bumpers, doors and panels from wreckers and enthusiasts for aussie classics and has them rechromed / media blasted and rust repaired and then anti rust primered.

i found a '70 lc gtr on the side of the road with a collapsed front right lower ball joint. The drivers front wheel had laid over and he just pulled off the road, slammed the door and wrote for sale and his number on the back window. september 1987..$500. still got it.

I was offered an original LC GTR when I first got my licence, 32yrs ago. But the engine had been thrashed, the suspension needed work & tranny was dodgy. I was 18 and didn't have the $5k the bloke was asking for, plus I didn't think it was worth what he was asking.

    • @lpme126

Oh, I don't know. What I learned from this video was he wanted a nice cruiser with a V8 sound that the 202 won't give him. If you watched the whole video you will know he went to great lengths to make it legal, so I imagine that was the largest capacity he could install in the relatively light Torana and keep it legal. Now, if he wanted to drag it, different story. However, that's clearly not what he was building here. A credit to the owner, good job Shane Jones!

I'm sure you know brock, bond and Firth originally fitted a 253 in the LC xu-1 that was used for rally and latter changed to the 308. What hes done has merrit imo.
